Some on the right are concerned that the petitions to secede, posted on a White House website by angry voters, are setting conservatives up as easy targets for the mockery of liberals.

Even without these petitions, we would still have plenty to mock.

Montana, Wyoming, or Idaho would probably all fit me pretty well.

I'm already in Michigan, but any of the Great Lakes states. As long as we got fresh water we'll be okay, plus we have a lot of production facilities if we ever need to start pumping out tanks and what not.

This.

I happen to like Connecticut. Actually, Storrs, Connecticut was rated the safest place in the US a couple years ago. They factored in tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, drought, I forget what else they threw in there. Storrs, CT And I like our state. The politics, (leaving Waterbury out of this), The liberalness of the place. The natural beauty of the hills, the closeness to NYC and Boston, a day's drive to Canada, it's a great place to live.

Plus there's tons of edible wildlife (deer) and good farmland. I think we'd be OK.

As a Canadian, I'm pretty happy right where I am, but if I had to choose an American state to live in California was nice when I was there. Well, southern California. Also Washington, for obvious geographical reasons, would be a lot like home here in BC, visually.

2012-11-14 02:13:43 PM
Probably Washington, so I could have Amazon.com, Costco, and good coffee.

2012-11-14 02:14:37 PM
Wisconsin or Michigan. Preferably Wisconsin.

I'm fine here in Iowa. But know this: we will blow the bridges to keep Illinoisians out, tho.

Wisconsinites are cool, tho, so long as they bring New Glarus.

I'd get a bunch of fark.com people together and form us one HELL of a smuggling network, that's what I'd do. I'd want to turn us all into very rich war profiteers.

Hawaii of course.

Definitely not SSRPA or PRMD. I'd say Delaware but if the country were to break apart, they'd need to start taxing everything.

Pretty bold assumption to assume those petitions are only being signed by angry Republican voters.

Hawaii....except they hate white people there. Very beautiful, but very racist place. You can get the crap beaten out of you or die just for the crime of being white.

You're 100% right. There's also completely non-republican Tea Party voters and completely non-republican Libertarians who would totally vote for ANY candidate republican or no so long as their platform and voting record were 100% in line with Republican platform and voting records. Like the completely non-partisan NRA who endorsed the republican who had signed an assault weapons ban over the democrat who had expanded gun rights. We can't forget those guys. They're probably all on the petitions too.

If California were to secede, would states that are currently under obligation to hand over all their water to hydrate LA be allowed to stop the flow? Would Mulholland dam go dry when the Colorado River stopped in Arizona?

I've heard about this before. When I first learned of racism in Hawaii my reaction was, "Whaaat? Racism against white people?!"
