Blues_X: Go all in, and give it to Scorcese.

Eastwood. He's comfortable with westerns and war movies, is old enough to remember the original movies, and can make movies with a sense of loss and things ending.

Much more important is who they get to WRITE it.

And Lawrence Kasdan is still alive. He gets my vote.

qorkfiend: Joss Whedon.

Am I the only one bothered by how much hype there is for Whedon? The Avengers is an excellent, EXCELLENT movie, but when you strip away the amazing action sequences and some of the witty dialogues, the plot itself was very basic and familiar. It was actually very similar to the cartoon Avengers movie that came out couple years ago. Whedon did good by not screwing up the movie and hiring people to coordinate the action scenes, but he is no Christopher Nolan.

Ohh! Stephenie Meyer would be great for this.

We already have midichlorians making up the Force. Do you want your Sith Lords to sparkle next?

I hope yous trollin, subby.

But anyway, how about Terry Gilliam? Sure, it would have an ending bleaker than Empire, but it would be fantastic.

/or Michel Gondry to do a sweded version

If it ended up being Brad Bird or Guillermo del Toro I would shiat a brick.

Sure, del Toro is involved in about 2 million projects right now, but it would be AMAZING to see his directing style (to say nothing of the amazing creature designs) implemented into the Star Wars universe.

and Brad Bird directing would be an absolute good.

Your Zionist Leader: ManateeGag: he can keep waiting. pick kevin smith!

Why, so we can get a movie about two stormtroopers whining about guard duty?

DH-437: "Somebody blew up the second Death Star."
RG-269: "Bunch of farking savages in this galaxy."
RG-269: An invasion of that magnitude would require a helluva lot more manpower than Sauron's army had to offer. I'll bet there were independent contractors working in that thing: bowyers, Oliphant trainers, cooks.
DH-437: Not just orcs and goblins, is what you're getting at...
RG-269: Exactly. In order to get it conquered quickly and quietly they'd hire anybody who could do the job. Do you think the average Uruk-Hai knows how to build a catapult? All they know is killing and white handprints.
DH-437: All right, so even if independent contractors are working for Sauron, why are you uneasy with his destruction?
RG-269: All those innocent contractors hired to do a job were killed - casualties of a war they had nothing to do with.
RG-269: All right, look-you're a blacksmith, and some juicy Isengard contract comes your way; you got the wife and kids and the two-story in Gondor - this is a Isengard contract, which means all sorts of benefits. All of a sudden these left-wing militants blast you with ghost arrows and wipe out everyone within a three-mile radius. You didn't ask for that. You have no personal politics. You're just trying to scrape out a living.

I would agree with you, but he'd just end up re-releasing the original Empire Strikes Back.

/not that that would be a BAD thing....
