Hi, Farkers. I've never attempted to mobilize our personal army before but this girl really got to me. A friend whose house was flooded has been trying to budget repairs on her teacher salary. She didn't have flood insurance so she's not covered. She asked her 8-yo daughter to fill out her Christmas list so she could add that to her budget. This is what her daughter wrote:

I'm asking for 2 things here: 1) How can I set up some sort of fund to help her (someone suggested indiegogo?) and 2) would you kind-hearted, generous Farkers please help in contributing to repairs so they can make their house livable for themselves and a puppy?

Thanks in advance. Any info/advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Aww, a puppy that stays small!

I've contributed to campaigns through Indiegogo before, and I've found them safe and reliable. If someone sets it up, I'll kick in.

As far as setting it up, I think people like to respond to incremental requests so that they can feel they're contributing to something tangible, so set it up in stages, e.g. We're asking $3000 for a new furnace. If we make that, we need $6000 for a new roof, etc. Smaller increments too, like $200 will help repaint the little girl's bedroom, $50 for puppy food and a basket, etc.
