As a Terp fan that watches Maryland play Duke twice a year, they try to get more charge calls than any other team I have ever seen. They get more bogus charge calls than any other team we ever play. If they had to play for Big Ten refs the whole season, they would probably take half the charges they take courtesy of ACC refs.

Between the flops and all the times they move under a guy who is already in the air, it's ridiculous.

"Veterans and talent," Krzyzewski said. "Now, I wouldn't mind having some of their guys. And I'm sure they would like to have some of our guys."

Yeah, maybe one.

And I thought there wasn't a way for Calipari to ratchet up his douche level. Just because he's stopped making any pretense that he's coaching a college game doesn't mean everybody else has to follow him into hell's perdition

Krzyzewski!

Douche-off 2012!

Isn't "flopping" part of the game of basketball? You sell the charge, big whoop. Why are people just now getting their panties twisted over this kind of thing?

Also, Kentucky basketball ain't what it used to be...

True. They've actually been following NCAA rules.

Blame the NCAA. UK didn't make the rules.

No. That's why the NBA is supposed to be fining and suspending for it. This isn't soccer.

I guess American audiences will never be satisfied till the game isn't a game anymore, just an exhibition of rules and procedures.

So how does that work with the charge calls? Are guys allowed to fall down on mild contact in a charge situation? What if they let out a yalp even though it didn't hurt? Suspension or not? Are guys still allowed to sell the contact on contested layups? Will play have to stop so a review can determine whether or not the reaction was directly proportional to the contact? The authoritarian part of my brain is dying to find out!

Oh, and a cheater who shouldn't be allowed in an NCAA stadium, much less locker room, is talking about a cheater who also has the refs in his back pocket?

How INTERESTING!

I wouldn't necessarily call K a cheater although I'm sure Duhon, Maggette, and Thomas will be brought up. Most coaches attempt to work the refs, although K is the only one I've seen call a TO to chew on the refs (he still wasn't in his team's huddle when the cameras came back from commercial) and not get at the very least a T. Most major programs get the benefit of the doubt from refs, and there have been plenty of studies about how the crowd influences the calls from the refs. However, I'm not sure any of that can explain a few instances like Greg Monroe's one game against Duke.

You (and most UK fans, it seems) have the wrong impression here: For Duke fans, we pretty much only care about Kentucky briefly, if at all, in March. Last night was an anomaly, albeit a fun one to watch. But most of the time, we barely know you guys are there.

Also Gerald Henderson was just trying to block Hansbrough's shot.

This is very true, you guys cared about UK very briefly last tournament. Maybe not even for a full forty minutes, since it was pretty obvious Lehigh was going to win with about 10 minutes left in the second.

Not much time to think about UK, I'd imagine, with usually one, maybe two rounds if you're lucky?

Well according to K, the person who got the worst of that exchange was Henderson. However, being a (complete) douche/asshole still doesn't make him a cheater.

I am 100% sure Henderson has cried himself to sleep over inflicting that injury every night since the event passed.

Just like I'm 100% sure Krzyzewski is gonna hand out hugs and candy to everyone on Franklin Street.

Still not Duke, near 20 point blowout loss to Arizona in the sweet sixteen.

It's too bad, you miss out on alot of great College Basketball by trying so hard to not care about programs outside of Duke.
I'm not Duke fan, but I did cheer for Duke twice last year when they played North Carolina, and while I think Austin Rivers is way overrated, I still thought it was awesome when he hit that 3 against UNC at the buzzer.

You're ascribing too much emphasis to what I said- Kentucky fans seem to have a passionate hatred of Duke and feel that it's mutual. It isn't, that's all. I watch other conferences when I can, but I don't have a dog in the fight so don't much care who wins or loses. But then I'm not even a proper Duke fan, really, as I'll cheer for Carolina in March.

FWIW, I agree with you about Rivers. Great first step, but if steps two and three didn't give him an open lane, he threw it into the second row. I was really, really surprised he left that early. He didn't need the money, I figured dad would tell him to stick around longer and learn how to play first. The Hornets could've done better with that pick.

/and as for Mason Plumlee testing the waters, honkey please
//he had Turkey or Spain written all over him

Vacated, no, but he was supposedly aware of boosters giving gifts to graduating players. It's ok, though, because he jumped that burning ship after getting his AD fired to head to his aww, shucks, golly-gee home state.

For those who don't know, zarberg is referring to the Kansas program purchasing suits for their graduating players to interview in (according to them).
