And after they declare independence... what song is it they want to hear?

I'm just shocked that we have so many people that take these petitions seriously. If you sign one you no longer have the privilege of wrapping your self in the flag and declaring your patriotism. FARK YOU! You are a crybaby traitor to the constitution you pretend to support. Your actions are seditious and your character is as weak as it gets.

Bobby Jindal quote from CNN.com today:

"It is no secret we had a number of Republicans damage our brand this year with offensive, bizarre comments - enough of that," he said, according to Politico. "It's not going to be the last time anyone says something stupid within our party, but it can't be tolerated within our party. We've also had enough of this dumbed-down conservatism. We need to stop being simplistic, we need to trust the intelligence of the American people and we need to stop insulting the intelligence of the voters."

MacEnvy: If there's one thing Tennesseans hate, it's socialism. That's why the Tennessee Valley Authority never took off, and the entire state died of malaria in 1935.

TN is bipolar like that, we make whiskey in dry counties, we love roads built by federal dollars, we love religious freedom (but only if it stays in the cities), we dislike socialism but love to put the state on the map for stuff like TVA/Oak Ridge/Smokey Mountains National Park/etc., we're an agriculture state but most of our growth lately has been manufacturing (and nobody complains about those jobs!), we love corporate freedom to rape the land but don't dare ruin our hiking trails or hunting grounds or pollute our water, we dislike education but worship our state-funded college football programs, Memphis/Nashville/Knoxville all almost have nothing in common with eachother, etc. etc. etc.

parts of the state even seceded from itself during the civil war, go figure

Every state with a live volcano in it thinks Jindal is an effing punch line to an unfunny joke. Pretty much the entire west coast. That line when he spoke it was a huge issue here, it helped cement the image of Republicans as completely stupid.

Volcano Monitoring Bobby, do you speak it?

Eh, the Constitution doesn't expressly prohibit seccession. So seditious may be a strong word. It is, however, the political equivalent of taking your bat and ball and going home because you didn't get your way. It's petulant, hypocritical, ignorant and very likely the country would be better off without those assholes, but I wouldn't consider them traitors. Small-minded xenophobes who consistently demonstrate a lack of good judgment and forethought, but not traitors.

I am curious how they'd feel about secession if Romney had won and all of New England wanted to secede. I've got a guess...

I don't think the 'fark you and GBTW' is the appropriate response. I think it should be a well-written, with all the details explained in plain terms of what will happen when a state secedes the country, and giving both the advantages and disadvantages of seceding the Union.

And then you add a photo with William Sherman, and write 'I'm coming for you' in blood.

Maybe there is nothing wrong with taking apart the NOLA public education system? When Chicago laughs at how corrupt your system is you have a problem:

If these secessionists were serious, they would be pushing for state-wide referendums so the people could vote on the issue and the rest of the nation could see that the majority wants to withdraw from the republic. The majority wants that, right? It's not just a few radical petulant children pissed off that they didn't get their way, is it?
