If you stopped listening to Jim Rome back in the 90's and picked it up today, it would seem like you never left.

Rome is simply a one-note Johnny.

Speaking of politics being foisted on you by men in brownshirts......

Jay Mohr and the Sklar brothers are, sadly, much more entertaining than the Kyle Brand Appreciation Hour that the Jim Rome show has become.

no, he's changed quite a bit but for the worse. back in the day he had the rat family, mark grace on slumpbusters, he'd confront people (not saying it was good or right, but it happened) and now, it is horse racing, on-air reads for stamps.com, FixmyPC, Five Hour Energy, and worse yet, Kyle Brant adoration. recently, KB did a sprint triathlon and the way Rome washed his balls the next week, you would have thought KB singlehandedly iced bin Laden. Or, a couple Fridays ago, the last 20 minutes was KB on-air with Rome, musing about wehther KB would spend the afternoon golfing or going to the movies. it is sad. KB has no takes, no charisma, no nothing. bizarre how Rome is anointing him to take the show over.

i was a loyal streamlinker / jungle insider, whatever they called it up until a fwe months ago when it just got out of hand. so i'll catch segments here or there but the show is a pale imitation of what it used to be.

ha! great minds.....yeah it is pretty ridiculous. the moment I hear "KB, come in, grab some steel" that means i automatically move to the other STR station as I know there will be 20 minutes of ballwashing.

there was a moment a few months ago when Rome was like, "KB told me he didn't get any sleep last night, took a header walking into the kitchen, couldn't get back to sleep......KB. You ok? You look great. I mean, I can't tell you didn't get much sleep!"

nice cover, Jim.

the one shiatty thing about not having treamlink / jungle insider is when they host, i can't listen. i'll just catch bits and pieces (shiatty radio reception where i live). so that kinda sucks. but i have both of their podcasts so it kinda evens out i guess.

jay mohr is awesome
brothers sklar can eabod - which they may do already nttawwt

i don't really hate him for doing the same schtick for so long, it's what made him successful in the first place. do what works.

i also seem to recall a long while back that he talked of getting out of sports radio and into more of a current affairs type talk show. guess that didn't pan out, or was b.s. -- also, see above.

i think he actually likes soccer - but hasn't had a lucrative offer from mls to pimp it

like nascar did - he used to talk as much smack about nascar & 'necks as he ever had about soccer, then they gave him huge jack and now he's "converted".

While Sprint needs a full time tenant I hate the NBA. On the other hand collage b ball is huge so it might catch on here. NHL would be neat to have. The thing is the thou we would latch on to any winning pro team. Heck if we had a winning WNBA team I think we would cling to it like a life raft

Rome's schtick only works when you're a relative outsider. Back in the days of the Saturday AM show and up through the early days of the afternoon show he was offering a semi legitimate outside/different viewpoint to shiat like the fabulous sports hag and other "insider" kiss ass talk radio. Then, of course, they threw the big bucks at him and he was just co-opted into the giant suck ass PR machine and was revealed to be a cynical whore just like the rest of the boot licking toadies. And then he became the absolute biggest boot licking toady of all.

This one guy turned the Galaxy from absolute jokes into 90 minutes from hosting MLS cup. Keane and Donovan get most of the credit, but Christ, we were unbelievably terrible w/o Gonzo. He's got to get some caps. He's got to get caps in the Hex, or else Mexico might consider stealing him.

Romey Van Cienfuegos is just jealous because Futbol De Primera, ESPN Deportes and the Spanish language stations that talk about soccer get better ratings than he does in his home town.

Of course, the people that listen to Futbol de Primera despise MLS and the USMNT more than Romey Van Enano Resentido ever will. But it's still soccer.
