Aidan: rtaylor92: Was the recall of Troy's mayor supposed to be national news at some point? I feel like this story and its presence on Fark is supposed to indicate that we are should have some frame of reference as to what the hell the author (or the submitter) is talking about. So some partisan mayor got recalled...and? Was there something awful she did? I see no reference in the article to the headline's claim about homosexuality (unless I missed it).

I have mixed feelings about recalls regardless (you voted for this person, you should suffer the consequences Troy)

Ditto. I work north of Troy (like, a mile away at most), and I still haven't the faintest idea what precisely made this woman a bad mayor, barring the idiotic comments she made. A faint bell rings in my head and sounds like "big money troubles", but I can't remember for what. A primer to bring folks up to speed would have been appreciated.

Turning down a few million in Federal funding for a bus+rail transit center on the border with Birmingham was kind of a big deal for the people who care about such things, and her hateful comments managed to offend just about everyone who isn't a teabagger. I don't know that she's any worse than the rest of the reactionaries who came into office over the last four years, but she made national news (briefly, of course) for being so public about her primitive views of sexuality. There are plenty of reasons to mock Troy, and having a whackadoodle mayor wasn't helping one bit.

Homosexuality is only more dangerous than smoking if you live in a place where people say things like "homosexuality is more dangerous than smoking."

Hahaha local news websites are so adorable.

Holy crap this was Troy?

Man. It's amazing how much of stupid SE Michigan drama you miss when you live one effing county over.

/Troy, I would be disappoint, but I remember Y2K

Ah, thank you. I think I may have been thinking of somewhere else (massive budget shortage?) because I do know a bit about that, and of course the Troy library thing.

BronyMedic: EnviroDude: Every homosexual that died of HIV in the 80's agrees?

Ryan White frowns upon your stupidity.

Ryan White did not acquire HIV via unprotected sex either.

Got another point that isn't relevant?

EnviroDude: brantgoose: They say that each cigarette you smoke shortens your life expectancy by four minutes.

Show me the math.

Every homosexual that died of HIV in the 80's agrees?

So the non-homosexuals who dies of AIDS don't exist, or maybe it's the AIDS part that's the problem and not the gay? Or maybe it was the assholes that maintained that the disease was killing all the right people? You know, the people who let it get dangerously out of control and spread in the population? Most them were straight. So, really, what you're saying is that heterosexuality kills, right.

God, that was shattering. Thanks for the link.

Anti_illuminati: Selena Luna: Anti_illuminati: brantgoose: 1. One dick sucked reduces your life expectancy by .... minutes
2. One vagina humped reduces your life expectancy by .... minutes
3. One slice of cheesecake with fruit compote and a 12 ounce cup of espresso reduces your life expectancy by .... minutes
4. One book by Danielle Steel read reduces your life expectancy by .... (not counting time lost reading)
5. One hour doing laundry reduces your life expectancy by 60 minutes.

That's all I got.

I'm having trouble answering this one because I don't know if the question means the actual time hands on or one wet cycle of laundry (my washer takes an hour and my dryer takes 1 hour, 15 minutes). If it's the second, then that really only takes me about 10 minutes, including the time to wait for the machine to fill.

I'm guessing some people need to sit in a laundry mat and wait.

Oh, I forgot about that. Okay, so one hour less for them.
