D. A. Pennebaker, he is not.

He's worked hard informing people for a long time - now it's time to make a trainload of dough. Good for him.

I just watched his softcore gay porn documentary -- the one on Netflix with all the muscled and/or hairy and/or bearded guys. It was good for rubbing a few out (on consecutive nights, not all in one sitting of course).

How do people think he pays for all of those hard-hitting documentaries?

If it wasn't for him, I never would have known McDonalds food is unhealthy.

It goes to show Spurlock isn't a one-trick pony.

I will endeavor to use the insult "hair-farming milk baby" in my everyday vernacular.

/wish I'd known it today at the post office

What's the problem? Its about time someone blew the lid on the "pop music machine" that uses focus groups to determine which repetitive, artless sounds are most appealing to impressionable pre-teens, then mixes in imagery of sanitized sexualization. All the while causing irreparable psychological harm to its youthful performers who are not emotionally equipped to deal with the sudden, extreme, and often brief stress of stardom, only to be discarded to the scrapheap of fame to make room for the next "thing".

What's that you say? Its yet another 90 minutes of crappy concert footage of whatever act is currently selling well on iTunes, slapped together and called a "movie"? I guess we all have to eat.

Yep. documentaries sometimes take years to do, and, for him, that probably means turning down a lot of well paying jobs in the process. With this, he's got probably a week of prep, one or two nights of shooting, two weeks editing, and he gets to cash a six figure check.

He's just getting a little financial breathing room.

Hell, Michael Moore used to direct music videos between documentaries, and part of the "Paradise Lost" series was financed by the filmmaker's fees from that awful Blair Witch sequel.

There wasn't a whole lot of "truth" in his previous work. Supersize Me was anything but realistic.

He forced himself to finish meals that were more than he would've ordered normally. He didn't keep a diary of what he ate. He liberally ordered shakes and cokes. The movie was intended to shock and was successful. Critics estimated he ate 5000 calories a day. Anyone would be sick and gain weight by eating that much of any food.

And at the end, he blindly accepted his wife's equally bullshiat "detox" diet. Spurlock is one of the few people who deserve the term "libtard." Did McDonald's go under? No. He just inspired more of his ilk to think less and criticize others for not following their dogma.

"This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band," said director/producer Spurlock. "To capture this journey and share it with audiences around the world will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of."

Lol how embarrassing.

He actually did more harm than good.
Matter and fact, Supersize me is a lot like Romneys entire campaign, full of BS.

Morgan Spurlock is the guy who overheard somebody say, "Judging by the crap they put on television these days, millions of people would tune in to watch some random idiot stuff his face full of McDonalds and get fat," and thought to himself, "Challenge accepted."

Anyone who thinks that Morgan Spurlock produces hard-hitting, intelligent documentaries really needs to develop their critical thinking skills.

FYI, Super Size Me is completely phony. I'm pretty sure people have already explained why in this thread, but just in case, I'll give you the short version: no food log, tons of sugary drinks that are available anywhere, and forcing himself to choke down as much of the food as humanly possible instead of eating naturally and letting the unhealthy food do the work.

That was the whole point! He did it to show that fast food is very unhealthy, including soda. He ate every bite to demonstrate what happens when you over eat, and to show how easy it s to over eat at a fast food place. The point. You missed it entirely.

More accurately: the sensationalist pandering, you bought it completely.

Pretty much the type of ignorant, facile post I'd expect from someone dumb enough to buy into Spurlock's work. My dislike of the film has nothing to do with fashion or trends. Try watching it again, I think you'll be surprised at how manipulative and dishonest it was.

So, McDonald's ISN'T super unhealthy?

Of course it's extremely unhealthy for you, no one is questioning that. So much so that a talented man could easily make a "Food, Incorporated" type doc completely destroying them. Another, much hackier choice, would be to exaggerate, distort and manipulate to make a similar case.

It's not the message itself that was flawed, it was the wildly egocentric, self-aggrandizing and dishonest way that he delivered it that is at issue here.

My 11 year old just asked me, "What direction do five gay guys walk in?"

Even she gets it.
