So, it wasn't really a prediction, it was more just a propaganda piece.

So, not much different than anything else on Fox News.

In this way, Dick Morris sees himself as having retained his credibility.

Too late, but glad to not be alone in my WTF.

This sounds completely believable.

So you're saying that you lied to your audience to make them feel better and to try to influence the election?

farking LOL

In the interest of fairness to Dick Morris, he IS a total farking idiot.

Dick would have been better off not talking about this issue.

"I think that there was a period of time when the Romney campaign was falling apart, people were not optimistic, nobody thought there was a chance of victory and I felt that it was my duty at that point to go out and say what I said."

When you start including "lying" within the context of "duty" you're doing it wrong.

Prediction: This admission will do nothing to diminish Dick Morris' credibility among those "some of the people you can fool all of the time" aka RW media junkies who comprise his target audience who still see him as having some sort of credibility or lessen his number of appearances on those outlets or on other corporate media platforms.

Hunch thing.

You know how sometimes you'd be better off if you just let something disappear into the past without talking about it?
You know those times where just the act of opening your mouth to talk about it makes it worse?

This is one of those.

So when is his next appearance on FoxNews?

So basically the GOP were just projecting when they called Silver a partisan for saying what he was saying.

It never occurred to them that he would look at data, and form a truthful conclusion.

The smartest thing he could have done was to claim a near tie so that everyone and his brother would show up to vote. A predicted landslide causes people to stay home and do something else.

It means that he isn't ignorant, he is just a dishonest asshole. He should have went with ignorant because Fox viewers don't give a shiat about that. Saying you are a dishonest asshole will just remind them of that slick salesman from the city that sold them that vacuum cleaner that cost $1,000 but broke the first time you tried to pick-up dog hair with it.

Lying is very important to them. You think they would be more careful about expending their credibility more carefully.

They have so little credibility left after the last couple of years. It should be treated as a precious commodity and only used for the most plausible/strategic lies. They blew it all on the election and they don't have enough left to convince Americans that more tax cuts are needed for the rich people to hire employees they don't need.

Well, if you need to pull something out of a hat later, the audience has already suspended disbelief. Perhaps you're too young to remember Florida in 2000, the famous Bush-Gore affair.

The statistical modeled exit polls predicted a Gore win, however the counting seemed off for some reason.

Everyone knows Morris is nothing but a Republican shill.

The funny this is that Fox News always introduces him as "former Clinton advisor" Dick Morris, presumably to create the impression that he will be speaking from a Democratic point-of-view.

2012-11-13 08:50:33 PM
And so Morris admits the central Fox objective. Reporting factual news isn't a priority, helping the GOP is.

2012-11-13 08:51:00 PM
"The people at Fox are not stupid," Joe Muto said. "They know when they have Dick Morris or one of these other pundits on predicting a landslide victory for Romney, the people behind the scenes know that it's all bluster. They know that this is sort of an entertainment. They know that a lot of these people are just hucksters ... we producers know that this is all a farce. The reason we don't step in and give a reality check to our audience is because that's terrible for ratings."

2012-11-13 08:51:05 PM
Dick Morris before he dicks you!

2012-11-13 08:53:37 PM
So either he had no clue what he was doing or saying or he lied.

2012-11-13 08:57:55 PM
At the close of the segment he had this gem...

"The Republican Party will recover because ultimately, this president's policies are wrong and they're going to lead to an economic collapse in the second term which is going to make the Republican Party look great"

Unreal. This is why Republicans like myself voted for Obama this election, because the people running the GOP and all the pundits are delusional, backwards, party-first assholes. And it is only getting worse.

How would a farking economic collapse make anyone look farking great you farking piece of shiat?!?

Ugh, what a Dick.

ManateeGag: how does that help? it hurts the campaign you mental farking midget.

It hurts the campaign if the campaign is stupid enough to believe it, but if they manage to get to this level they can't be that stupid- right? It could help increase the morale of the rubes base, and hopefully eliminate the sense of inevitable doom that the Romney campaign gave off for so many months. Even if Romney loses, keeping Republican voter turnout as high as possible could salvage some House and Senate seats. That's the thinking, anyway, and despite the election results I think he was right, at least from the propagandistic point of view. If the party and its surrogates had simply given up hope in Romney back in September or something, and let the country know how screwed he was, the thrashing they got would have been even worse.
