I have been saying the same farking thing for months

MSNBC and Fox News DON'T care about news. They care about money.

There is no grand media conspiracy to destroy OWS and the Tea Party. They don't give a shiat about them in the grand scheme of things. All they want to do is showcase the morans of the group.

I have seen many make the claim that OWS was taken down by corporate media. Most of those claims that I saw originated on fark.

MSNBC has Rachel Maddow and other opinion shows, true, but I have never gotten the senese that they are a full-on propaganda arm of the DNC the same way I get the feeling that Fox News is working for the RNC.

The difference, and I think it's a very important one, between Fox and MSNBC in that regard is that MSNBC does a fairly decent job at making a distinction between their opinion and news programming. Fox doesn't make that distinction.

Fox News viewers aren't smart--that's why I have such a loathing for Fox. It's manipulating morons, and they know it. They convince people of vast liberal conspiracies that don't exist. They bring on "experts" to parrot right wing talking points and promote bullcrap like our president being a Kenyan Socialist, and how the movie 2016: Obama's America is probably the most important movie of this generation.

It's sick what they tell people for ratings.

The reason we don't step in and give a reality check to our audience is because that's terrible for ratings."

this guy is full of shiat, fox news was was the propaganda arm for the republican party even back when they were paying cable and satellite providers to carry their network. It's always been about pushing a narrative first and ratings second.

Back in April, Muto lit up the Internet with a series of anonymous posts on Gawker that lifted the curtain on some of the goings-on at Fox News.

Yeah, I remember the scandal when we found out that the bathroom at Fox News didn't have enough toilet paper.

I've been saying this for a long time, but the Fundies refuse to believe me: Adverts are the driving force behind ANY communication company, and the price of the adverts is directly proportional to the amount of people watching the channel.

Fox news is a business, and their goal is to make money. They do this with Ratings. Everything else, be it news or lies, comes secondary to ratings. If spewing lies, half truths and glorifying the inane makes ratings, then by God, full steam ahead, good sir! There's money to be made.

Fox News is more about entertainment than it is about information.

they aren't. advertiser follow the people, not the other way around.

if people watch, advertisers will be there.fox, msnbc...doesn't matter.

Advertisers only care (and by extension, the networks only care) when the program does something that could cause people to be upset and cause trouble for them, like boycotting.

Hey Fox News Mole... maybe you should have taken hidden pictures/videos during your time to prove THIS point, rather than taking pictures of the bathroom. That would have actually made for something interesting. Instead, it is just you with no proof playing he-said-she-said now.

They claim there is one, but the reality is it all is skewed quite heavily and blatantly.

And then they have those stupid "Bias Alerts" when something deviates from their narrative but they cannot ignore it by talking about Birth Certificates.

Fox News insisted it would be a Romney landslide. MSNBC *occasionally* admitted that Obama seemed to be slightly ahead in some battleground states, but the election was too close to call. If MSNBC is as bad as Fox News, why didn't they insist that it would be an Obama landslide?

Yes MSNBC is liberal, but it's absolutely incomparable to Fox News' division between ideology and reality.

unyon: More importantly, they don't pursue a story with dubious underpinnings, report it, and then recycle it as a talking point into the pundit shows as a means to give it legs.

Dubious underpinnings nothing. They take serious news stories and use their "hard news" time to push their ridiculous agenda with them. Benghazi, anyone? Even their supposed news time slots have been running with every half-brained conspiracy theory they can find in their desperate attempts to force it to gain traction.

Their favorite trick with the allegedly "hard news" time slots is to play the "just asking questions!" game where they force allegations into the form of a question and imply there's some inherent truth behind them. At least MSNBC limits their drum beating to their punditry and hammers on actual things that people they don't like have said or done, even if they blow things out of proportion from time to time for effect.

You have to be pretty goddamn stupid at this point to not realize that FNC is anything more than 24/7 republican propaganda or to think that what MSNBC does with their opinion shows is even remotely similar. FNC just isn't even hiding the fact that they're pure propaganda anymore.

I have to admit that even as a liberal, trying to take advantage of how easily these people are duped and subsequently separated from their money is very tempting sometimes. I just don't know if I could bring myself to contribute to the derp.

This is true. Think of slap bracelets. 4chan is the kid in class who first showed up with a slap bracelet. Reddit are the kids who saw 4chan doing it and went, "Me too!" and next week, every kid in class has slap bracelets. Fark is the kid who gets a slap bracelet six months later, after all the other kids are tired of slap bracelets. The other kids laugh at Fark, but Fark turns around and says, "Haha, joke's on you! I only wore it because it's so lame! I mean, slap bracelets, right guys?!" And then Fark slowly, softly lets one tear roll down its cheek as it cracks a big smile to mask the pain.

I never realized being on the bleeding edge of internet memes was such a noble cause. You make me feel like a 70 year old father trying to be cool with his 15 year old kid and totally missing the point. I guess I should really put more effort into knowing these things as they're happening, instead of living life, making money and paying attention to the world at large.

Thanks for waking me up from Real Life. I promise to be more in tune with the lingo of you young crazy kids, because I can be hip and whack, too! I'm dope fresh with my internet usage! And, that's the fly way to be, hep-cat!
