Meh. Prager thinks everyone who isn't lily white is a threat to civilization as we know it. And he hardly ups his "conservative thinker" cred for writing for Townhall. Same derp, different day.

The GOP is going to have a very hard time reaching out to minorities when so many members of the GOP don't like minorities.

Maybe an obvious point, but it's not the case that the GOP is against certain policies, and those policies happen to benefit minorities. They're against minorities, and thus any policy that happens to benefit them.

It's more complicated than that. Half the party is doubling down on the derp while the other half is trying to abruptly court the Hispanic vote (but just the Hispanics... they still don't have anything nice to say about blacks).

For a party that's become legendary for how thoroughly it enforces a unified message, this sort of schism is a good indication that their coalition is starting to break down.

That's really going to be a problem. They can't do without the white trash but the white trash isn't enough.

For conservatives, the issue is that for generations now, they have failed to make the case for their values.

Prager generally presents himself as an introspective guy. He may want to consider why conservatives have failed to make their case persuasively. I mean, conservatives are society's rugged alpha-dog leaders, right? Why are they so incapable of making inroads into media, education, and culture?

For simplicities sake, I was counting anyone who isn't a conservative white dude as a minority like they seem to be.

The problem for them there is that they're still viewing it from the same condescending standpoint as before, only saying they should support the DREAM ACT as if immigration policy was the only reason Hispanics voted overwhelmingly for Obama. And that it's clearly nothing more than pandering on their part.

From the comments One of the threads developing inside the conservative bubble is that teh rpoblem is that you just haven't sold your values. Its an utter farce, as Prager shows here. He simply assumes he knows what all those minority folks SHOULD think and do. He does not realize how little he knows about America. And he does not realize that the conservative bubble is springing leaks. For example, he blithely suggest that the only solution is for conservatives to do X and he just happens to have a book that explains it. People don't blindly fall for that stuff anymore

Aha! another book tour.

You'll get no argument from me. They've got this notion that Hispanics are "natural conservatives", but they don't seem to appreciate that those "natural conservatives" like things like social programs and safety nets. And, yes, the pandering is so utterly obvious that it's insulting.

He left out the all-important 'working class' part that goes along with that 'white male'. Romney got a much more limited number of the college educated professional white male demographic.

For conservatives, the issue is that for generations now, they have failed to make the case for their values. They haven't even conveyed conservative values to many of their children. And when they have, the university has often succeeded in undoing them.

Maybe your "values" should be able to withstand facts and analysis.

This election, the GOP's talk about Nate Silver was a microcosm of their problem. When the facts show the GOP is wrong, the GOP attacks the people that teach the facts.

We should missionize for the American Trinity (Liberty, In God We Trust, E Pluribus Unum) as least as passionately as the left has missionized for its antithesis -- Egalitarianism, Secularism and Multiculturalism. Or we will lose America as we have always known it.

You know in O'Reilly's intital rambling whine about the demise of the white male hegemony he said "minorities want things, they want stuff" there was not "free" qualifier in the rant. And the thing is, he's right. All people want "things" and "stuff" like a home, food, clothing and all the other consumer goods advertised night and day. Its as though he had the sudden realization that nobody wants to live under a bridge - not even minorities.

Yeah, it's like they think "practicing Catholic = socially conservative" or that small business owners should automatically fall in line with policies that benefit big business.

There's nothing to missionize. Those are 3 slogans. That is the most meaningless sentence I have read in a very, very long time. And I actually read the American Thinker links that get posted here.

I think it's going to be hard to persuade someone from Mexico that government is a burden. You don't take things for granted so much when you have done without things like roads and adequate education health care and police.

Marcus Aurelius: I WANT MY STUFF NOW

Seriously.

I've been told for the past week I'm supposed to get free stuff from rich people because Obama won.

I want a bored and lonely woman, blonde, 30-something, who has finally decided that only a black dude can give her the satisfaction always denied her by her persistently absent and sexually disinterested investment banker husband.

Come on rich white people. Chop chop. Obama has a mandate, so make with the sex kitten.

Communism doesn't really work that way. Especially not Homosexual Agenda Steamroller Communism. Instead of what you just said, what you're actually going to get is an illegal immigrant Danny Trujilo lookalike who was just released from prison. And he's on his way to "take yer gun", if you know what I'm saying.

dahmers love zombie: Egalitarianism, Secularism and Multiculturalism

Not too far off from "Liberté, égalité, fraternité" I really don't understand how someone can advocate against egalitarianism. I mean, opposing a secular state and a multicultural society is also pretty dumb, but an egalitarian society? We're taking a firm stand against "all men are created equal"? Or are we taking a stand in favor of "all white men are created equal"?

I think I know which one.

tallguywithglasseson: Prager University

Oh Jesus farking Christ.

Prager University is a virtual on-line non-profit organization founded in 2009 that produces five minute video courses on a variety of subjects, ranging from economics to philosophy. The organization was created by Dennis Prager, an American syndicated talk show host, and Allen Estrin, screenwriter and radio show producer, to teach fundamental concepts and right-wing values. They claim that media bias is strongly left wing, yet their poll, "Are you a liberal?" is spun so that all examples make the liberal position seem extreme.

Pretty much, yes.

A Referendum on Obama's Leftism
By Dennis Prager - May 1, 2012
Election Day 2012 will not be a presidential election. It will be a plebiscite.

Americans will not only be voting for a president (and a House and a third of the Senate). They will be participating in a plebiscite on the definition of America.
Guess you didn't like the answer, did you biatch.

You know what's especially great about this article? How its all about how conservatives need to stick up for their values, but it doesn't name any of their values until literally the final sentence. What are those value?

Liberty: Yes, because liberals hate liberty.

In God We Trust: Ok, you got me there. Adherence to faith and submission to authority for the purpose of organizing a social hierarchy based in obedience to a dogma is pretty conservative.

E Pluribus Unum: I'm pretty sure Obama literally says this in all his major speeches. He ends his speeches often with the "out of many, we are one" line. It's great. It's also not conservative.
