I don't know, 2000 McCain would have done a damn sight better than Bush. Not a big fan of 2008 McCain though.

Bob Dole Has a Distinguished Record of Leadership in Civil Rights
As President, Bob Dole will continue his strong commitment to protecting the civil rights of all Americans. During his career, he:

Supported the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Voted for the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) of 1967. The act protects older employees and job applicants from age discrimination in employment. In 1990, Senator Dole supported the expansion and clarification of the ADEA to protect older workers from the loss of their employee benefit plans due to age discrimination.
Played an instrumental role in extending the Voting Rights Act in 1982.
Led the battle to pass the Americans with Disabilities Act, which is the first comprehensive federal law which protects individuals with disabilities from discrimination in employment, public services, transportation and telecommunications.

Introduced the Equal Opportunity Act, which prohibits the use of racial and gender preferences in federal contracting, federal employment, and programs wholly administered by the federal government.

Bob Dole believes that we have made great strides to end discrimination in this country, but that we still have much work to do.

Snarcoleptic_Hoosier: Needs more sparkly background gifs and embedded midi files

Sometimes I miss the 90's Internet. I'm not ashamed to admit that I embedded my share of midi into my webpages, maybe even had an animated gif or two. (More than two. A lot more.) I was in college then, and it was a crazy time, when your computer was cutting edge if it had a built-in modem and every week our mailboxes overflowed with AOL disks promising a thousand hours of free internet.

I probably saved my first webpage somewhere, on a ZIP disk no doubt, and looking at it now would be like looking at a high school yearbook from the 70's or 80's. We thought we were so cutting edge, the epitome of cool, and now we have no choice but to shake our heads and be grateful that we know better.

So thank you to whoever posted this page. That really took me back.

No, this came from Network Solution's whois database. It could be that the owner changed registrars in 2003.

I answered this earlier in the thread, it's a company that rehosts old presidential websites and ads

You mean you've never had a hard, throbbing Kemp shoved up your trembling, tight Dole?

Maybe so, maybe no. Dubya billed himself in much the same fashion as Dole, it was 9/11 that changed perceptions and brought the crazy out. It wasn't just in America either, after two big buildings got demolished (Sorry to say the deaths, however tragic, were less numerous than several acts that sparked no political shifts) nearly every country in the world regressed. To be fair Dubya had already "primed the pump" with his cowboy diplomacy and pushy demeanor (especially in Israel) but it was a major change.

For instance in Japan, politics had shifted enough that the public schooling system was finally prepared to start teaching the Rape of Nanking as a thing that happened in history. 9/11 blew that away, along with many other "hard right" turns in public policy.

It's never one thing, and it's hard to say what a President McCain would have been like, but 9/11 changed everything, if only because we let it.

That's true. I guess my memory of 2000 McCain was overshadowed by 2008 McCain.

So what's worse, having them think you tried to look at porn or having them know you tried to look at the Dole/Kemp `96 site?
