As a New York football Giants fan, I agree.

In the past 2 games, Tony Romo is 44/61, 72% completion rating, 3 TD 0 INT.

Last game, he did this.
Romo evades (4) Tackles and completes a 20 yard pass on 3rd and 4

If you're going to green something just to take a shot at Tony, at least wait for one of the weeks where he has an INT or something.

2012-11-13 10:58:43 AM
Yes, article writer, he's thrown 13 INTs.

Of course, nine of those came in two games. So for the vast majority of games, he's been pretty solid. And then in a couple (one of which was against the league's best defense) he sh*t the bed.

/I'd say that he's only played three home games this season...but at home he's thrown 2 TDs and 10 INTs
//wow that's an off-balance schedule, though

2012-11-13 11:03:26 AM
What do you mean by special? Special like short bus kids?

IAmRight: //wow that's an off-balance schedule, though

It's getting easier, finally.

Tony's had more INTs this year, but his o-line is the worst it's ever been and he's been hung out to dry by his receivers on most of them. Dez Bryant has been responsible for a large number of plays that should have been TDs not being so, or routes that should have been completions turning into INTs.

I'm not worried about them really. I think they're probably missing the playoffs this year, but they've made some good moves lately so they can improve through the draft.

2012-11-13 11:07:18 AM
Pittsburgh was the only remaining team on their schedule with a winning record, and it doesn't look like even that's going to be a problem any more.

When the Cowboys win their next 7 games, everyone's going to think Romo's a god.

Until he plays a real team in the playoffs.

Then it'll be full-on LULZ again.

After looking at the Gmen's remaining schedule I'm going to fully place all of my Farkbucks on the Cowboys to win it.

then again...never place money for or against the Giants. just don't do it.

Yup, you really can't do that as they're a team that consistently plays to the level of its competition.

I'm kind of surprised at the Romo-hate. When QBs fail under other nutjob owners, they're really just lumped into the organizations failure. Not sure why Romo is outed so much as a failure when the real issue for the 'boys is Mr. Jones..

Because, as another poster noted above, Romo can be really good for one or two games and then completely fark up for the next three, only to return to quality later, frustrating everyone around him. Hell, Romo's brain is wired in such a way that he sometimes have godawful WTF moments every few downs or at pivotal parts of the game.

Yes, you can blame the line, but even when he had decent protection, he was never the great QB that Cowboys fans argue that he is.

It seems that from Cowboys "fans", the hate is because he is not winning Super Bowls, from outside of Dallas, I think people reacted negatively to the ESPN narrative that Romo was the next Brett Favre as most people were really tired of Brent by that point. Also, I think some of it comes from the perception that on paper, the Cowboys should have been a playoff contender during Romo's tenure. Now, I am sure several Cowboys fans can expound upon why none of that is Romo's fault, which I totally agree with**, but he still takes the punishment for it.

TL;DR - Haters gonna hate.

**Trey, Di, do you hear me? I agree dangit.

Confirmation bias, really. Everybody thinks Tony is erratic, so when they watch and he doesn't do anything wrong, it's completely ignored. But any time he has an INT it's "THIS GUY ALWAYS farkS UP!"

And in spite of evidence to the contrary, he still has this aura about him that he's unreliable in certain situations. He's just as good at pivotal parts of the game as he is the rest of the game.

Tony's had a few bad games in his career - and sometimes he will throw an INT at a critical part of a game... but so will Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or John Skelton or anyone else. But he's had far, far, far more good ones and statistically he is a very good QB. He's just got the problem that he's been labeled as a "choker" and the only way he can lose that moniker is if he wins a Super Bowl Ring - something you can't do unless the rest of the team is pretty good too.

Grabbed Romo as a bye sub for Rodgers since I had Austin anyway. Missed out on Flacco who scored 30 more than Romo. Boo you Romo, boo you.

Well, I mean, they have been to the playoffs several times, and into the 2nd round twice. But you're right, Cowboys fans don't like anyone who isn't winning a Super Bowl. For example, Danny White was a great QB who took the Cowboys to the NFC Championship game twice and everybody in Dallas uses him like a punchline now.

worked. Didn't know that trick. I would like to ask the reason that works but I'm already thankful enough and an explanation wouldn't amount to anything anyways.

I don't care what the record is after this season but Garrett has to go. Not one drive in the no huddle offense and that's when the offense is actually marching down the field.

Tony also had 2 TDs and completed 72% of his passes. This is the kinda crap I'm talking about. He gets ZERO credit when he does well and all the blame when they lose.

Romo isn't the problem with the Cowboys, most of the time. It's just unfortunate that the times when he is the problem are generally the bigger games that get national attention. The problems with the Cowboys are Jerry Jones, Dez Bryant, and lines that love to commit stupid 5 yard penalties.

That said, I'd really, really like it if the Cowboys finished the season on an 0-7 slump.

Or at least if my beloved Redskins could have a 3-game winning streak starting on Sunday.

Not really. Every QB throws INTs. When Romo throws an INT, it is usually a spectacular, WTF INT, the sort of things that Favre or Hasselbeck would throw (Holmgren called them "whirlybirds"). He also has godawful moments where he seems to draw a complete blank, calling the wrong audible or sending the ball to a route that wasn't there (which is sometimes the WR's fault).

I have no problem with Romo, but I don't understand the talk that he is a "great" QB, or much less a good one. He's okay, slightly above average, but he just seems completely befuddled at times. It's as if he has a concussion that comes and goes.

The only guys who matter to the media/most fans are in order:

QB
Head Coach
Best Defensive Player
Diva Player
Possibly a coordinator if he's been in the league 20+ years, gets a bump if he is a former head coach
Anyone who gives good sound bites

If fans really paid attention to their teams, Brian Daboll would not be employed. Who is Brian Daboll? He is the Chiefs' O-Coordinator. Here are the Football Outsiders' DVOA ranks for the offenses he has been in charge of:

2012 - Through Week 9: KC - 32 of 32

2011: MIA - 23 of 32

2010: CLE - 21 of 32

2009: CLE - 22 of 32

Personnel clearly accounts for some of this lack of success, but why the hell does this guy keep getting hired?

The Cowboys really have the table set for them this December. Any Given Sunday and all that, but if they can't make a charge into the playoffs with what they have left, particularly given what may be a serious injury to Roethlisberger, then well, that's a real problem.
