If Rasmussen has him at a 54% approval rating then it must be at least 60% in reality.

N0bummer already won the only popularity contest that matters. Next up, socialism and gulags for dissidents. Our great nation will collapse just like the Soviet Union did--you can already see the parallels. Weak, ineffectual leadership, a ground war in Afghanistan, and the proletariat's knowledge they don't have to work for anything, they can just take it from the people who earned it.

Sure they do. An "Obamaphone" is another word that sounds like "Obama" - compare to an "Obamanym", which is another word that means Obama.

7/10

pretty good, actually. a little too well written. cheeto-fingers mashing a keyboard usually result in at least one or two typos. and you've got to throw in a "libs" or "democrat party" in there. but a stellar effort nonetheless.

That is probably skewed. I think Sandusky may beat congress in approval ratings. The people polled must be immediate family members and staff to get that high.

Obama was just elected president. You would hope that would give him a shot in the arm. Let's hope this honeymoon continues at least until he sworn in again. 100 day after would be good as well.

Fun game. Will he be more or less popular at the time of his inaugural than he is today.

I voted for Mitt Romney and I do not regret that; I voted my principles and my convictions against the Democrat Party and I do not regret that at all.

I am pissed off at Chris Christie, as far as I am concerned that fat piece of human excrement could die of a massive heart attack and stroke; and I would not even shed a tear. He threw Romney under the bus, by having that little "bromance' with Obama after the Hurricane. All because he did not get picked as Romney's running mate.

I see that Romney won the popular vote, but lost the electoral college. I still believe in the electoral college; it was installed for a darned good reason.

As a Christian; I fear for Israel, I believe that the process towards to the second coming of Jesus Christ for his Saints and his Church is going to be accelerated. Watch Iran, China and Russia; biblical prophecy is going to be fulfilled and quickly, get your houses in order and I mean quickly.

I weep for our Military, who has an complete pig for a commander and chief and hates them with passion. I also fear for our Country's fiscal mess, which is going to get much, much, worse.

The Elitists; The Podhoretz's, The Kristol's and the professional writers will do well, for the next four years. As for me; this mean that my parents are going to have to continue to support me. But, I am going to try to find some sort of work around here. I might try the Meijer's near here. I might apply for a job working midnight, as a stock boy. I don't know if I can get hired, because I worked for them long ago, and yes, it sucked. But, anything beats sitting in front of a laptop not getting paid.

I might just go on an extended hiatus, maybe till after the first of the year. Maybe not, I am still mulling that one over. Yes, this was a massive let down for me. I honestly thought, as did many others on the right; that Mitt Romney had this one in the bag and now, we are all sitting around shell-shocked.

Above all, I am still proud to be a Conservative Christian American, that will never change. The United States America is still the greatest Nation on earth. It just has a suck ass President that people stupidly voted for.....again.

In Korea, one of their favored culinary treats is called Kim-chi. It's basically cabbage that they put into a soup and then bury in the ground for a long time.

It ferments and goes bad and then they dig it up and eat it.

Consider this the Kim-chi of trolling.

Haven't read the post-mortem, but I recall Nate saying after 2008 that Rasmussen was the most consistent in their numbers (less variation from their mean), even though they were consistently off from where the rest of the polls were.

If my super-secret and all-kinds-of-weird-math model just uses Ras+5 and is more consistent that another poll aggregator/statistical model that uses every piece of data collected in the US from 1750-2013, which is the better model?

I did see that but Rasmussen was way off in 2010 and 2012. Rasmussen's first article after the last election was basically saying how phone polling doesn't work anymore. Seems like a pathetic thing to say after many people got it right and you got it wrong. Like blowing a PGA game and saying the sport of golf is broken in some way.

If nothing else, if they don't have faith in polling, why should we have faith in them. They kept on adjusting their methodology to keep the right happy.

If you know that the sight of your rifle is off such that a 100-yard shot will end up a half-inch below and left of (or..whatever, off by a consistent and measurable amount) your target, the rifle is good enough to use for sharpshooting - you just know to account for that error. It's my understanding that a rifle like that - assuming it's always off by the same amount and in the same direction(s) - is as good as a perfectly accurate one (again, for sharpshooting purposes).

Anyway, if they're wrong by different amounts every time (I'll say "within one election", because everyone changes the methodology between elections), that's a problem. Consistency - even in being wrong - is useful. Remember how so many farkers want to know what Bill Kristol/Jonah Goldberg/Bernie Goldman/whoever says just so they know to do/think the exact opposite? It's like that.

// and I guess we can't quantify how wrong they were until after the election
// though we can know by how much they deviate from the other polls/models before the election - does that yield consistent results?

I get the theory. Kristol is a good example. He is consistently wrong but now he is advocating tax increases for the rich so what am I supposed to do with that?

I'll take consistent accuracy over consistently precise inaccuracy any day.

Well, sure, but if we're asking which is more consistent...

// this is the thing people forget about statistics/data modeling:
// consistency is consistency, whether it comports with what you "want to" or "would rather" see or not

2012-11-13 05:43:43 PM
Imagine the problems with their economy if they did leave. Would they remain tied to the Dollar, for stability? Or would that defeat the purpose of leaving. How can they institute their own currency, Crocketts or Alamos or Dillos or try to scrape up some Gold or what? Would people like to be paid in Crocketts when one day they are 40 to the Dollar and the next day 100? Would they try to stabilize their new currency and would they have any reserves to do that? Would you have to carry around actual Gold with all the counterfeit and underweight problems? Or would they go on the "gold standard" for their currency? Everyone is going to try to hedge the new prices which will cause instant inflation. The whole thing would go down in flames with wild currency fluctuations.
