I hate Rick Reily with an unexplainable passion.

Rick Reilly is a print media icon in an internet world. Hell, if you count the ESPNification of sports media into the equation, he's at least two media generations behind.

I really hope his shoulder injury is nothing serious. I really want him to be back for the annual grudge match against those farkin ratbirds.

/anyone else notice the Steelers and Ratbirds meet twice in three weeks?
//the second game is going to be a 3 string cripple match.
///going to be a very short post season for both teams.

The look from Steve Young is tremendous, you'd think he just caught Reilly raping puppies.

It's quite explicable:

I'm assuming that ESPN has a huge "as reported by" scoreboard in their newsroom.

Second prize is a set of steak knives.

Not looking so good...apparently it could take significant time to heal. That's bad news.

Maybe Ricky could do a little real reporting and find out what the injury actually is instead of "breaking" the story he hurt his shoulder which everyone who saw him walk off the field "broke" long before his Twatting.

Rick Reilly is the worst combination of Chris Berman, Dan Patrick, and Peter King.

I dont mind Patrick and King. Patrick is a lot better since getting away from the ESPN machine. King can be a moron....but he's no where near the level of Derp that Reilly is

Rick Reilly has been going down hill since before he left SI for ESPN, but at least he's irrelevant enough that I usually don't have to hear his name. Bill Simmons, on the other hand, is that terrible combination of being god awful at his job yet also being quoted constantly by idiots.

As for the actual story, sucks for the Steelers that Big Ben is out, but as long as they sneak into the playoffs with a bit of health on their side, I wouldn't count them out.

Reilly is their second highest paid "talent", behind Simmons. At least with Simmons you could say they get their money's worth

Rick Reilly berates suicidal athletes?

I remember back in the day when I'd get SI in the mail I would start at the back page first for Reilly's column. Since he's been at ESPN I've read, at most, three of his columns. He really has become irrelevant. Although, with each major sport having it's own dedicated 24 hour channel, ESPN itself has pretty much become irrelevant. I watch it for MNF and that's about it.

And yes, Steve Young's death stare is priceless.

Rick Reilly takes himself far more seriously than anyone else does.

At their worst:

Berman = Loudly obnoxious
Patrick = Afraid he will collapse into a singularity of smug
King = His Pokemon binder of sports insiders, let him show you them

//At times all of them, including Reilly, can be redeeming. At least Dan Patrick is usually funny.
