I feel the same way about her that I feel about Jude Law: I can't never tell who she's supposed to be without a caption reminding me that she is not a generic cartoon of a human being. She's just beige.

Unlovable, one-dimensional c-word.

Go away.

"It needs to be equal," she told the magazine of what she's learned about relationships over the years.

It's probably because I'm an old fart, but there's something funny to me about the term "over the years" being applied to a 22-year-old.

It only has to mean at least two.

She looks better with whatever hair color that is than she does as a blonde.

I prefer her without pants anyway so we both win!

She needs a good arresting in the rain after crashing her truck into a train and killing her dog while drunk.

With someone that young, it should be "over the months"

Meh. She looks completely uninteresting with straight hair.

Much better.

Alison has been known to look frumpy, but has enough talent to make you not give a damn about that.

I don't know how true that is, really, or how likely she is to find that situation right now. Taylor has a need to be in control of as much of her life as possible; the thought of something that's out of her control going wrong scares her. She's said as much. A relationship necessarily is going to have at least part of things happen out of her control. The range of control she's looking for- enough control by the guy to make him an equal but enough control by her to satisfy her inherent need for control- may be too small a window to hit.

And let's be honest: at this moment, she is quite possibly the single most powerful person in the music industry and, in fact, the entire pop culture universe. That can't really be gotten away from. Not entirely. No matter who she gets with, there is by nature going to be at least a little bit of a power imbalance going in, not only in the abstract, but also because both sides know what Taylor is going to do if/when the relationship goes sour. She may just need to accept that imbalance to some degree.

No, seriously, she says they're constricting and uncomfortable.

She thinks that "relationship drama is creatively fertile"?

//"Creatively fertile" my ass.

You know who never gets interviewed in the gossip columns? Sane people living normal lives. It would make for boring reading.

When you get to be a big enough celebrity, they start seeking you out anyway. Not everyone's able to handle it. Taylor doesn't even Google herself anymore because she knows she's going to run into... well, Fark threads about her and such, and she knows if she sees a 'who should Taylor date next' article, much less any sexual speculation, she's going to break down crying.

Taylor can handle it- outside of the long string of abortive relationships, she's still a very intelligent, very driven woman with a stable support circle- but she knows she needs that support circle to help tackle the nasty stuff before it reaches her.

You forget I'm probably Fark's self-admitted designated Swiftie at this point. I'm cool with that. If you had to pick one pop-culture figure to be basically everywhere and be idolized and imitated by a generation of people, better Taylor than a lot of the other options. (And yes, I know there are more important things. While I'm in this thread, I'm also working on a blog post concerning those secession petitions.)

She writes her own songs, and plays her own instrument. That puts her head and shoulders above most of what is on the radio today.

You're in luck. She's been fighting one for a couple days now.

Not that you'd exactly notice. Here is sick Taylor doing an interview on the British program 'Try To Be Polite To The Crazy Person Rambling Nonsense At You'. I swear to you, that is Taylor in the middle of a cold.

I'd gladly be the subject of her next hit song. Provided of course the reason for our breakup was having to wipe my splooge off her chin.

Thing about Taylor's interviews is that they are relatively "normal". None of this pretentious/tortured artist bullshiat.

I think that's the thing the hipsters here can't stand about her. Sure she seems to have a lot of bad romances, but she's just nice. You have to be a drug-addled whore to get their respect.

/guess I'm a "Swiftie" too

She is very well-spoken and polite. She doesn't come off (even slightly) as being a head case. She doesn't come off as being "precious" or uptight, doesn't try too hard or lose her cool. She is impressive in the way she handles herself. I have only seen her interviewed twice, once by Letterman, when he told her she "smelled like old wood" (she laughed) and once by Ellen DeGeneres, where Swift got pretty agitated when the host kept showing pictures of Swift's ex-boyfriends and firing questions at her, but she handled the situation without any major problems. She is a very cool customer and making bank, all at 22. Kudos.
