(Talking Points Memo)   Hey, remember that Senate race I conceded? Never mind. Also, could you count ballots a little faster? It's been like a week now   (tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com) divider line 9

I appreciate your trying, Arizona, but we already have a Florida tag.

I really hope Obama pushes federal election reform. There should be uniform policies, procedures, ballots and machines in all 50 states for all federal elections. This embarrassing banana republic circus sideshow needs to end.

sadbad: Is there one ninety year old woman with Alzheimer's counting every ballot in the state by hand?

And shouldn't she be busy with her duties as governor?

UNC_Samurai: months-long recount.

A precondition to a recount is a count.

Craptastic: FTFA: The latest figures show Carmona trailing by some 78,000 votes with nearly half a million ballots still uncounted. Victory for the Democrat would be uphill climb by any reckoning, but it's mathematically possible.

Confirmed. The math checks out.

At any rate, why isn't Arizona counting all their votes? Laziness?

Here's a brief article on the issue.

Relevant section: Nearly a third of votes cast in Arizona remained uncounted the day after the election. Most of them were probably cast by Latinos, organized and newly registered by multiple civil rights groups in the state to combat candidates like the notorious Maricopa County Sheriff, Joe Arpaio.

/Get out the latino vote turns into get out, latino vote!

LouDobbsAwaaaay: Once republicans were put in charge of this, we'd never have a fair election in any state ever again. At least the way it is now, no shiat-heel in Arizona can change the way the election is conducted in my state.

Yeah. I don't want the federal government RUNNING the elections, but there do need to be some minimum standards. I was shocked that people were in line for hours. That's straight up bullshiat and there should be penalties imposed on whomever is responsible. When I voted there was no line, and it took 5 minutes, that's how it should be everywhere.

As a side note, the story about the republicans who tried to 'test' voter fraud and got arrested was the funniest day after story.

At first I assumed that this was pure, footdraging derp. And then I read the article. Seriously Arizona? Over half a million ballots uncounted? Is there one ninety year old woman with Alzheimer's counting every ballot in the state by hand?

Every vote counts and every vote should be counted.

Hold your horses, all right? Election fraud takes time.
