Besides the abuse of the newsflash tag, lets get this out of the way....

Normally, adultery, no one gives a shiat. But, the commander of afghan US forces could be open for some blackmailing. Keep it in your damn pants, soldier

I figured it'd be a white woman, not a black male. But whatever floats his boat, as the military is now cool with doors that swing that way too.

Based on the pictures, I think rack might be more appropriate.

Negative. Article 134 of the UCMJ is very clear on the subject.

Man, the right-wing blogs are going crazy with conspiracy theories over this. My brain locked up due to over-exposure to derp before I could get that far into it, but apparently Obama is trying to cover up something to do with Benghazi by.. framing his generals for adultery, I guess? It probably makes sense if you've been crying your eyes out for a week and want any excuse to scream "I TOLD THOSE LIBS HE WAS A MUSLIM!!!" on forums.

People enjoy sex, and will pursue it.

We, fully knowing this, still gasp in horror / get poutraged / fingerwag at this behavior. More at 11.

Interestingly, one of the justifications for not letting gays in the military was that they would readily give up secrets for a hot piece of ass. Must have been projection.

good to know that every member of government is a shiathead

Don't worry, subby. The military doesn't exist to protect the country (lucky for us, there hasn't been a challenge to our national sovereignty since the War of 1812). The military, these days, exists only to defend the empire, so, in reality, the worse they do their job the better off you are (that empire belongs to somebody else and YOU are the one who pays for it... the quicker it dies, the better).

No Cman has the right of this one NORMALLY noone gives a shiat. But when you dun stuck your dick in the crazy........well that's what the reg is there for. It is not usually a problem but when it is it's actually got some pretty harsh punishment to go along with it.

Current body count on this one is 8. Does anyone know if General Allen is married? because that would be 9 people who are going to be negatively impacted because Broadwell had to be queen biatch on campus.

It is not the sex itself that is the problem: it is the fact that a private affair opens the soldier in question to blackmail, and even if you decriminalized adultery in the military, the fact that the adulterer(s) in question would want to keep the act secret from their spouse(s) remains.

Apparently it's Obama's fault that the adultery happened because, coming from Chicago, he has poor morals? I don't exactly understand, maybe one of our Fark Independents can graciously explain it for me.

Have none of you people ever hear of a security clearance? The whole point of one is that they know you can't be blackmailed, if you're having an affair you can be blackmailed. Not too mention what exactly did the highest person in the CIA spill to this woman? Plus if you're in that high of a position you should f*cking know better, so his judgment is sh*t.

According to a senior U.S. defense official, the FBI has uncovered between 20,000 and 30,000 documents - most of them e-mails - of "potentially inappropriate" communication between Allen and Jill Kelley, the 37-year-old Tampa woman whose report of harrassment by a person who turned out to be Petraeus's mistress ultimately led to Petraeus's downfall.

How the fark did they get any work done?

The essential problem seems to be that he appears to favor generals who can't keep it in their pants. No conspiracy in that, but certainly it calls to question just what sort of background checks are being run on these guys before they are being given senior commands.

If you want to look for a conspiracy, ask yourself why Eric Holder knew about the Petraeus affair well before the election, but sat on it until Election Day. It's not a stretch at all to believe that Holder told Obama and that nothing was done about it on purpose.

What does the loss of security clearance have to do with the UCMJ reg? The loss of security clearance had more effect on patreus's situation and was probably the impetus for his resignation as he was in a civilian position. The loss of security clearance could be the least of general Allen's issues if it is decided to use him as an example for the military justice system.

Not every single possible outcome or concern is going to be listed in every single post and to expect that your personal pet issue to be the only issue that should be discussed is actually quite silly.

So moving on

Yeah I'm sure the president handpicks generals based on their potential to have sex.
