Is this all because of Cassady being slow as frozen shiat? Why can't Marvel instate a policy where they don't solicit books until at least 75% done?

They're trying to work Darth Vader into the story.

I have to admit with Cassaday's track record, I'd have assumed that they had at least two or three issues in the can. Or there was a narrative structure in place to deal with all the delays.

Uncanny Avengers...? WTF?

*dives into Wikipedia*

Things that have stayed the same in the X-Men Universe since last I looked:
1) Wolverine is in every farking X-Man book.
2) Jean Grey is alive.

Things that have changed in the X-Men Universe since last I looked:
1) Everything else.

I went into a comic book store last weekend. I didn't recognize anything.

When did I get old?

He took over the Xavier role and is now head of the Jean Grey School of Higher Learning. Kitty is his co-head, and he's got a team of X-Men who are the teachers. This all takes place in Wolverine and the X-Men, which is the best X-title in years. Other than that, Wolvie is Wolvie... Oh, and Kitty is dating Iceman now, sorta like X-Men 3, only they're older. But seriously, this is a great book.

Meanwhile, Cyclops went all evil and stuff, killed Xavier, and became the Dark Phoenix for a while...long story there. He's basically the new version of Magneto now.

The Avengers basically came to realize that they couldn't keep ignoring that the X-Men exist, and after this last big crossover, they decided to blend the teams, so you get the Uncanny Avengers - half Avengers, half X-Men. Captain America is on the team, but it's led by Havok, which is a pretty solid choice, and it's got Rogue, Thor, etc...pretty good idea on paper.

There's still a bunch of different Avengers teams, but basically most of the Marvel heroes are now part of one of those teams somehow. Iron Man is even going off to join the Guardians of the Galaxy in a move totally not intended to play into getting attention for the movies.

That's about it. The big shakeup is that the X and A teams are now one, which honestly isn't that bad of an idea.

MARVEL NOW.....or later

It's kind of shiatty that the supposed flagship title of this initiative will have experienced delays on three of it's four issues right out of the gate.

Oh well, I am looking forward to Thunderbolts more anyway.

Huh, sounds interesting. Maybe I'll catch up a bit now that I've fully abandoned Fables. Dear Lord did that series ever go downhill in a hurry.

Sorry to say but both of those things are untrue. Jean is still very much dead and while Wolverine is in a TON of comics, he is mostly split between 1. his solo book, 2. Uncanny X-Force (which is ending), 3. his "main" X-Men book Wolverine and the X-Men (which is just a formality since that book is primarily about the students in his new school), and his Avengers appearances. He's actually not in most X-Men books.(Uncanny, Astonishing, Legacy, Adjectiveless, etc) aside from occasional appearances.

LiQuid!: Jean is still very much dead

Close, but a version of Jean is now very much alive in the new Bendis All New X-Men. It's a time displaced Jean from before she ever became the Phoenix, however, who along with the rest of her team (Cyclops, Beast, Angel, Iceman), who are still in their teens, is horrified of how things turned out for them.

Meh.

The Avengers basically came to realize that they couldn't keep ignoring that the X-Men exist, and after this last big crossover, they decided to blend the teams, BLEH so you get the Uncanny Avengers - half Avengers, half X-Men. Captain America is on the team, but it's led by Havok, Oh, fark you! which is a pretty solid choice, and it's got Rogue, Thor, etc...pretty good idea on paper.

Yeah, because the term "Avengers" hadn't become ambiguous enough without throwing all the X-Men in there.

Geez, I'm apparently one of THOSE kinds of nerd. Apologies.

Yeah well as of the time I made that post the comic shops weren't open and that wasn't true yet lol. Also that doesn't count!! Time travel junk and alternate universe characters don't count, otherwise there's a version of Jean currently alive in the AOA ongoing...
