You know, say waht you will about the U.S. but at least it's not a crime to have sex with your adult child. Sure it's pervy and you can't MARRY them, but no one's going to throw you in jail for it either.

That being said she is the spitting image of her father.

O.o Eeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.....

The idea of farking my dad just squicks me out completely.

There have been studies done that if family are separated early enough, they don't develop that "family - don't fark" thing that people have. This has happened between siblings as well as mother/son and father/daughter pairings.

You would think the recent influx of Pakistanis etal would encourage those islanders to stop banging within the family and widen the gene pool a bit. But nOoOOoooOOoo. We still see these stories about British men with no chins banging away at female relatives with enormous chins. Don't get me wrong - I love Britain. It's a fine place. It's just not a single guy's dating paradise.

Just father as many children as you can early in life and disappear. Wait 20 years for them to track you down, then it's sexy time. Don't hate the player hate the game.

Look, we're all for men having sex with a legally aged girl AND her mother... but NOT if you're the father. Or married to the mother.

To summarize:
Biological father with the mother, have sex with daughter= incest, kill the sicko.
Married mother = quasi-incest, NO.
Sex with mother, then daughter, not married and no blood relationship: probably not a good idea
Sex with daughter, then mother, not married and no blood relationship: high five, bro!! You da man!

Did I get that right?

They are both adults and yet he goes to jail for the exact same crime she gets a suspended sentence for.

There really is some serious discrimination going on in courts, at least in so far as equal punishment for men & women.

Works the other way too - if you take non related children and raise them together, they develop the same sexual revulsion for each other that biologically identical siblings do. This is a big problem in some societies like rural China where a young boy will be matched with a wife at an age barely older than a toddler and the wife is raised with the boys family. When these kids get old enough to officially marry, they often don't want to have anything to do with each other sexually, going so far as running away and/or trying to commit suicide.

Um, I think it's because he's the parent and she's the child. That said, they are both adults and it isn't like he had extensive contact with her to manipulate her while she was a child. From a genetic standpoint they are both in the icky end of the gene pool. That said, from a manipulation of the relationship point of view I still have a harder time with Woody Allen, even although genetically he was in the clear.

But hot lesbian twins are still okay, right?

Man.... I have a really hard time with this.

She's 27 -old enough to make her own choices, and clearly not being coerced into anything. So ok, if you wanna be with your dad, go for it. At the same time though, they're probably gonna have kids, who will probably have genetic problems. But lots of people have genetic problems, and we don't tell them that they can't reproduce. So I can't really be not-ok with that either.

In the end, as weird and aesthetically unappealing as it seems to me. I guess I'm ok with this.

This is known as Genetic Sexual Attraction. It probably felt overwhelming - she was bringing a lifetime's longing to the relationship.

I've heard of this before. The normal emotional barriers are not in place if the parent vanished when the child was too young to recall anything and had no contact since. I've also heard of the 'Electra Complex' where a daughter winds up in competition with her mom for the father's affections. This one is more common than you might think and can lead to incest. Usually, it starts to show up during puberty.

I didn't know the Brits had laws forbidding incestuous relationships between two consenting adults. I would think by the time they reach adult hood, legally they'd be able to make their own decisions concerning sexual partners since one is not taking advantage of a minor.

I guess the few cases of kids being separated at birth, never knowing each other, then encountering each other by accident and not knowing they're siblings -- until much later -- could get them tossed in jail also.
Then again, technically, we're all, according to religion, the products of an incestuous relationship. Adam and Eve were the first people. They had kids -- and with no other folks about, would have married each other and spawned the human race.

This is a pretty good case for Intelligent Design and Evolution.

I suspect that the mental prevention most folks have concerning parental incest is due to close proximity of the parents for the majority of their formational lives. How much genetics plays in that, I'm not sure. Plus, we still have a great amount to learn about the sex drive and all of it's complexities.

BTW. Neither the Mum or the Daughter, IMO, are raving beauties.

Does anybody else absolutely despise the tendency for Brit papers to preface every caption with a one-word summary of how we're supposed to feel about it? ex. "Revolting ... Andrew was jailed for ten months and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register" and "Frantic ... mum Katrina has not heard from her daughter since January."

Thanks, Sun, I didn't realize that incest is gross, OR that a mother would worry about her missing daughter! I'm glad you cleared that up for me.

The Electra Complex occurs way before puberty and is typically resolved by late childhood. However, it is an unconscious sexual urge that does not manifest into consciousness.
Whatever is going on here is just farked up.

Freud had some good ideas, but was hamstrung by his inability to accept that people in proper Viennese society were abusing their children. (Not all of them, obviously.)
