Everyone knows it's the CONSCIOUS mind that constantly contemplates sex.

Silly Freud

KrispyKritter: RedPhoenix122: Sometimes I do math in my head when I'm out for a run. Seriously, don't know why, but it keeps my mind occupied. Sometimes it's calculating lap times and dividing it into segments, sometimes it's a lot more advanced.

i used to try to do multiple basic math calculations (and all sorts of other distraction things) in my mind to keep the steady flow of unwanted assorted shiat from being in the forefront of brain theater. finally had a breakdown at 38, got help, diagnosed bi-polar and a whole grocery list of not well. very thankful for dedicated medical professionals, pharmaceuticals and wifes insurance company that has spent a fortune on fixing me.

You being insane explains a lot about your posts.

Can't I combine the sex and the math and think of threesomes?

Combine this with the "Math causes physical pain" thread from a few day s ago, and things might get interesting . . .

The unconscious mind is responsible for performing all sorts of rote memory associations and only few of them are well connected enough to come into conscious perception. Most of them involve classifying things as good or bad (essentially a "moral" viewpoint that can be more elaborate) and then using simple inference rules like bad things cause bad things. Today some people deep down initially react to Romney as a liar or blacks as dangerous parasites.

Of course the math tables used for mental addition and multiplication are in the unconscious which is where they are accessed from, but the strange thing is that they have no emotional content.

Mental math, such as multiplying 2 2 digit numbers. is often seen as a prototypical example of conscious reasoning, however it is a vast aberration. Almost all conscious reasoning does not proceed by deductive rules but instead is an effort to find justification for whatever the emotional prejudiced unconscious feels is right.

I know I once woke up scrambling for paper and pencils because I'd figured out how to get a bit farther in a q-mech homework problem...

Only once, though.

/Also, I hate equation dreams.
//If they were useful equations? Yeah, that would be nice.
///Repetitive strings of complete gibberish sliding through my mind in place of a dream tends to make me feel tired when I have them, though.

Anyone who is surprised like the author is simply not educated enough to form a valid opinion on the subject.

It's long been known and exploited that your brain is faster than your mind. It's the freakin' basis of speed reading. It's also well established that your brain alerts you to weirdness as a priority. A single wrong ripple in a flowing river full of similar ripples could be the only warning you get of crocodiles lurking.

The only new information is that it doesn't seem to work as fast with addition. Maybe even the brain is bored with simple addition problems.

Maybe it's thinking about both. Have you seen the number 0? Kinky thing is justing asking for it. Leaving a opening right in the middle. Just tempts you to do something.
