Good LORD, there's 350,000 uncounted ballots in Maricopa County ALONE?

You mean it's possible...just POSSIBLE...that repugnant sack of possum shiat Arapaio might still lose?

2012-11-12 06:01:07 PM
By the way, the Arizona SOS office is showing nearly 2 million votes cast now.

No, there'll be no chance once election officials there get finished with the ballots.

So nearly A THIRD of Arizona's votes haven't been counted? Yeah, a bunch of you Farkers owe Florida an apology right about now. Our system sucks balls, but not that badly.

2012-11-12 06:54:29 PM
Ahh, Arizona. We might have to apologize for that one, I'm willing to bet they looked at the Mexican elections and thought "These guys are unto something, here".

So THAT'S where my vote went!

Everyone knows that Arizona has become some weird Texas crazy and Florida crazy hybrid. All the other states are off the hook while Zona holds the mantle for craziest state. Florida tried this year but they couldn't match Arizona's craziness.

That's, like, a bigillion votes. That means Obammy looses and Dick Cheney is the president of the universe.

A red state like Arizona has 600,000 votes yet to be counted? This is an outrage! They're obviously rigging the election!
A blue state like Caifornia has 2,000,000 votes left to be counted? They're letting democracy run its course, and ensuring that every vote is counted.

Yawn.

How is a "State" like Arizona allowed to exist to begin with---I mean, after all, if they've got THIS many uncounted votes in ONE COUNTY, I wonder how many times this same thing has occurred int he past?!

2012-11-12 07:01:35 PM
Far from being an accident or incompetence, this is exactly the sort of situation voter id laws are intended to create. You dump hundreds of thousands of votes of legitimate American citizens into provisional ballots and then put the burden (making sure that it really is an actual burden) on the voter to get their ballot counted.

2012-11-12 07:02:24 PM
I am glad this is coming to light; if there is a change Arpaio can lose then the votes need to be counted quite carefully.

It would be a serious crime if all the voters were disenfranchised by some corrupt criminals in office.

Just to be clear to those of you who are hell-bent on voter ID -

This is the result of the laws you so desperately want. The vast majority of these uncounted provisional ballots (hundreds of thousands) are people who voted provisionally because they did not have the proper ID at the polling place. A quick recap here:

Normal voting procedure:

1) Voter comes to polling place
2) Voter signs application to vote
3) Voter fills out ballot
4) Voter puts ballot in counting machine

Now, we institute ID requirements:

1) Voter comes into polling place, without acceptable ID
2) Voter fills out provisional ballot paperwork
3) Voter fills out ballot
4) Voter seals ballot inside provisional envelope
5) Election judge takes sealed envelope and paperwork, seals that into another envelope
6) Provisional ballot envelopes get sent back to headquarters separately to be counted (maybe) later
7) Within a few days or a week, voter brings ID to election office
8) Election official goes to find voter's provisional envelope
9) Election official checks ID, fills out more paperwork
10) Different election official(s) determine whether to count ballot
11) Republicans complain about "bureaucracy" and "government inefficiency"

Additional time to process hundreds of thousands of provisional ballots: Weeks
"Voter fraud" prevented: Probably none

On top of all that, in the event that a significant portion of a particular demographic is forced to vote provisionally and thus artificially inflate or deflate a candidate's standing and change the result over the course of provisional counting, derpers now have a new excuse to claim "fraud!".

Keep these things in mind, people.

As Rachel Maddow has been talking about all week, the situation is this way in many states because Republican partisans want it to be this way for political advantage.

Note that you don't see this type of thing in Illinois in either the bluest (Cook) or reddest (DuPage) counties.

Yeah, well, 300,000 is... like... a lot of fingers and... even more toes. They've had to send out search parties for people with extra fingers and toes to help them count.

So far it's neck and neck and it might all come down to counting a peculiar lump that we're going to count as a toe until someone gets the industrial Wart-O.

Lt. Cheese Weasel: I'll take 'when is a mandate not a mandate for 200' Alex..

I don't even understand why the partisans are biatching about a mandate in the first place. Obama is president, the Democrats control the Senate, and the GOP controls the House, that's the facts. The two sides will do what they have to do politically so they can get reelected and the mandate talk is just nonsense partisans not in power argue about.

so, what you're saying is that they may or may not have the results correct, due to the provisional ballot process put in place by those in favor of the voter ID legislation(R-etards), and this could effect the results of the elections based upon the documented cases which point that the masses of which the ID legislation would encompass, the vast majority are of minority status, and would logically vote Democrat. The end result of all this being the untimely cessation of the voting process, with the candidate representing his/her constituents, whom having been the least effected by the legislation, coming out on top. At least until the votes are counted, should they escape the inevitable fire which will magically be traced to their exact location as the ignition point.

/did I get everything?

Arizona: the Florida of the West!

I hope that every one of these votes is counted, and that they may change some outcomes (although, I'm sure that would lead to legal challenges and re-counts and... basically, Florida all over again).

No surprise here. Arizona is overrun with funny business.

It's not just on the state level.

The local governments at the city and state level operate like banana republics. They send out building inspectors to shake down the wealthier parts of the city. They turn up every month or so with some petty bullshiat "violation" they didn't notice before.

Meanwhile, in the poorer sections, there are all sorts of illegal additions made out of scrap. Obviously not code and obvious from the street. But the city doesn't give a fark because those people won't pay the fines.

And much else. I go to Mexico often. Mexico has less bribery and the police are friendlier, too.

2012-11-12 07:28:19 PM
I should have ended my last comment with the point that I know several Mexican and Latino and Black gentlemen who voted for Romney, and all of whom said with a straight face that he was the one who was the closest to their ideals and values.

/they are rich, by the way.

^ California has 6x the population. If California had 3.6m uncounted that would be a better comparison... well, you know, if 2m of those were from a single county.

CA: 23M votes counted, 3.3M votes remaining (source). 12.6% uncounted.
AZ: 4.2M votes counted, 600K remaining. 12.5% uncounted.

But Republicans are the devil!!!
