You can either read the linked post, or I can summarize it for you here: my friend Jeremy is going to die from cancer, and he's leaving behind 3 kids, 4 dogs, and a half renovated home. You can donate here.

I didn't want to phrase it that way on my post because it's not necessarily the most tactful way of sharing his story, and that post is going to be read by his family and friends, some of whom don't know that his situation is this bad.

We're trying to do everything we can to help his wife Samantha so that when Jeremy passes away, she won't be in complete financial ruin. They were already struggling quite a bit before this happened, so this has been a huge blow to them. They're very stressed out about finances.

I know it's not affecting my health, so it's asking a lot since you don't know these people, but they're good friends of mine and almost like family to me. I couldn't NOT ask. So if this story strikes a chord with anyone, or if you are financially able to give, any donations are appreciated, or if you can share it on Facebook that's appreciated as well.

Like I said in the post, we ordered yellow Team Jeremy rubber bracelets for anyone that donates $15 or more. The address information you input on the billing screen isn't shared with us. If you donated $15 or more, please email me at blahbethany[nospam-﹫-backwards]liamg*com with your mailing address and we will send you a thank you note and your bracelet that you can wear it in support of Team Jeremy. Please donate here.

I know TFD is a tight knit community, so I hope no one gives me grief about the fact that I haven't been around much over the last few months (for good reason!) and I'm poking my head out just to ask for money. But this situation is really impacting my family, and a good friend of mine, so anything you can do to help would be much appreciated, even if it's just posting it on your Facebook. Sorry I haven't been around in a while. I work 55-60 hours a week now with my new job and don't have time for much of a life, and never look at my phone at work. As you can see I never post on my once thriving BlahBethany.com anymore, so it's not that I'm only neglecting you guys.

thejoyofpi: He doesn't have life insurance?

He was actually an insurance salesman last year, and ironically sold my brother in law cancer insurance, and life insurance. Jeremy had it as well. He was laid off from that job, and they were low on money so he couldn't pay his monthly premiums. He just got a new sales job recently, but his policies lapsed so he isn't covered at all.

I know. He can't catch a f*cking break. He JUST started renovating their house when he found out, literally it's half-gutted. I can't think of the situation getting any worse than it is right now.

What kind of cancer? Is there any chance he will survive this?

:(

Stage 4 clear cell sarcoma, high grace. His doctors have flat out said that he's not going to survive it, and he can either die quickly and not be miserable the whole time, or go through chemo to delay it and feel miserable the whole time. They decided they're going to do chemo.

I forgot to mention in the post, but he's also being fitted for a prosthetic.

It's seemed a little slow today.

Sorry to hear about your friend, though. I lost my Dad and MIL to cancer within a year of each other.

Cancer blows goats.

A post about Kimichi just shot up to 18 posts so I'm pretty sure TFD isn't dead, people probably just don't feel compelled to donate, but that's OK. I tried.

It's what a good friend would do.

It won't let me submit the same link twice. I tweeted Drew asking him to consider greening it, so hopefully he will. We'll have to see!

I'm so sorry, what a sad story, I hope there's a miracle. The hurricane depleted my charity for the next few months. I think you should try to post this again though, maybe during a busier time?

That's truly horrible. The only thing worse than dying before your time is knowing that you're going to die before your time. Tragic. :(

I'm going to be a dick and say it: this is why you absolutely positively must have life insurance when you have dependents. It's absolutely insane not to have life insurance if you have dependents. In most families, there are small luxuries that could forgone to pay premiums and making those hard choices is part of being a responsible parent.

Sorry no monies.. literally.. wife had acute pancreatitis with a low functioning gall bladder... had to have her gall bladder removed... 20+ thousand dollar bill (which thankfully the hospital waived their part of the bill) she can't work (she has RA which might have caused that gall bladder thingy).. I don't currently have a job (almost done with welding school).

But if someone in Northern VA area can help get me a real starting/apprentice welding job in the area I would be happy to donate half my first months pay.. (over a couple months cause I'm behind on what I owe to others already)

Is there a direct donation site/source/etc available that does not include the 7% fee? I feel compelled to donate but I only make 7.50/hr...I Will donate twenty dollars (not much, but what I can spare) but I hate to have seven percent of that eaten by the fee. Direct mail with check or something? I don't care about the yellow bracelet or any tax deduction. I want to help, if twenty bucks would help?

if you look at her blog, there is a website link on the where you can send a check directly to the family.

Don't you love how organizations profit off of charity sometimes?
