Step 1) Create Ideology
Step 2) Lose Debate on Ideology
Step 3) Distract audience with claims that opposition is "Communist"
Step 4) Claim that opposition is calling you names
Step 5) Profit?

Shocking. Someone who hasn't had a new idea about economic policy since he was 12 still talks like he's 12.

Romney is about as relevant as Sarah Palin and Dukakis at this point

...and I don't mean Academy Award Winner R Olympia Dukakis. She's more relevant than any of them. And she may be dead.

Note he doesn't sy "inaccurately".

Enjoy your relegation to irrelevance, Mr. Norquest.

I would say that he did.

And the Romney/Ryan campaign did a shiat job of explaining why additional rounds of tax cuts were needed, and how they would be 'revenue neutral'.

Mr. Norquist wrote a revolutionary, brilliant tax plan when he was twelve years old.

Mitt Romney IS a soulless corporate raider. That is fact beyond dispute.

It's pretty hard to sell your candidate when he's got baggage that large.

I am old, and remember that he was commissioned by Lord Reagan to found and oversee the sacred order of Americans for Tax Reform.

ATR gained prominence as a rallying organization against HillaryCare in the 90s. Norquist helped Newt Gingrich write the Contract With America.

There may be more, but I can't be arsed to go Google it.

He can't. That'd be a lie.

Just remember, Republicans. The people you elected in Congress believe a pinkie swear made to this man is more important than the well being of the United States of America and it's citizens.

But please continue to believe that the real reason the baby is crying is that you haven't shaken it hard enough.

2012-11-12 01:16:56 PM
Well that's nice considering what he really is is a shiathead.

2012-11-12 01:18:12 PM
Off topic I know but has anyone ran numbers of Republicans dying of shock or despair after the election? Surely there are heart attacks and suicides related to this.

Which, incidentally is also when he first learned the phrase "poopy head".

I just knew that subby added that word in the headline, but Norquist never actually said that. I was convinced that the writer at CBS was lying when that word was added to the headline, because someone of his prominence would never say anything so stupid and juvenile on a national broadcast. I had to watch the video to prove that these people were misrepresenting his statement. Nope. He really farking said "poopy-head" on a national news panel talk show. And this is one of the guys that are driving the party.

Do they really need this clownass any more? They ran hard on anti-tax and got their asses kicked.

But palling around with terrorists and then planning to kill your grandmother is totally cool, right Mr. Norquist?

Oh, ok. Good save.

2012-11-12 01:23:31 PM
I remember when I first started hearing about Norquist. I imagined a well-seasoned political strategist, key player in conservative think tanks, that sort of thing. I was surprised when I first saw the real man in video interviews, because, to put it bluntly, he came across as a bit of a goober. Then he said that his tax pledge idea came to him when he was twelve and riding the school bus home. Then he said that when he was twenty-one, he decided that nobody has anything to learn about politics after that age. I found myself trying to figure out how such a large swath of the GOP is beholden to a man who is direct, honest and proud about the fact that he stopped accepting any new ideas before the age that a person can have any genuine perspective about themselves and their place in the world.

I'd assumed it was sometime in his late teens or twenties that he'd just shut off his own contemplation, but no. The man uses the phrase "poopy-head". Fourteen-year-olds don't even say poopy-head. This guy's mental development stalled a long time ago.

Before the election: This is literally the most important election of our lifetimes! If 0bama wins, it means nothing will stop him from mandating more Kenyan socialism and communism!

After the election: Yeah, he won but that doesn't mean anything.

Nor have they made a case as to why we don't need more revenue.

I still think we need a new law. No contingency military operations without a corresponding and steeply progressive temporary tax increase.

I think anyone with a better brain than a tea party moron can tell that the idea of "narratives" is bullshiat.

This explains why Norquist has such a hard time understanding that Romney did this to himself.

POOPYHEAD!!!!

When I was twelve years old I thought that every person in America should vote on every single decision made in the country a direct democracy. Then I grew the fark up and realized how ridiculous that idea is.
Grover however has not.

Plus add in the fact that Grover doesn't really want everyone to have a vote anyway...

Who could have guessed his insults would be as simplistic as his politics?

Philip Francis Queeg: Mitt Romney was portrayed as a poopy head by Mitt Romney.

Neither, he perfectly played the role of a sleazy dissembler who avoid consistency and disowned 47% of the population. He was only slightly less repellent than the whores for corporate interests stuffing his still warm public corpse down the memory hole behind Bush.

2012-11-12 01:32:51 PM
I had no substantive thoughts on politics when I was 12. I was normal.

2012-11-12 01:34:20 PM
Really, who among us can honestly say they knew that calling 47% of the American people lazy moochers and then refusing to tell the other 53% what your platform is would have any consequences for your image...

If you don't want people to think your candidate is Patrick Bateman try not running Patrick Farking Bateman as your candidate.

2012-11-12 01:37:56 PM
Heh. I thought the subby linked an article about Norquist complaining that the opposition painted Romney as someone he was not and was complaining about the negative ads. I am glad I read the article, I'd have never guessed Norquist really did say "poop-head".

I'm sorry. I never heard anyone refer to Romney as a poopy head during the entire election season. A dumbf**k, yes. Poopy head, no.

Ring of Fire: When I was twelve years old I thought that every person in America should vote on every single decision made in the country a direct democracy.

When I was twelve years old, our school did a time capsule project where we wrote down answers to a bunch of questions about ourselves on a sheet, which was taken and returned to us upon our graduation from junior high two years later. One questions was "what is your favorite band?" You know what I wrote down? The Spin Doctors.

If I were Grover Norquist, I would still believe that today. I would believe that The Spin Doctors were the high water mark of American popular music. No musical act could possibly live up to the standard of quality set by... The Spin Doctors.

Heard of a guy using it as his pretext for killing his wife and kids, but nothing much otherwise.
