xanadian: Yeah, but don't expect the price of gas to fall anytime soon.I also recall that the US is currently THE leader (or near the top) in gasoline exports. It's supposedly one of the factors that's driving up the cost here at home.
GT_bike: Marcus Aurelius: Lando Lincoln: By ramping up production of shale oil?Yeah, that's just what we farking need.Humanity is so goddamn dumb. Not to worry, we're building the Keystone XL pipeline so we can export it out of the country tax free. So, problem solved, right?/ok so its stupidActually Obama and his buddy Buffet oppose it. That way we can help Buffet reap $47 billion in cash. Just his train operation (BNSF) is up wildly at 72% where he hauls coal, oil and sand. Coal to the power plants. Oil to the refiners. Sand to the Frackers.http://seekingalpha.com/article/992421-berkshire-hathaway-keeps-chugg i ng-along-thanks-to-burlington-northern-santa-fe
GORDON: The Keystone Pipeline has been going in in direct defiance of orders from Obama's EPA. I have been waiting to see what becomes of that.To suggest Obama has been championing fossil fuels is beyond ludicrous. Resource recovery technology has been outpacing the regulations to slow it down, and renewable energy production is actually going nowhere in spite of the billions thrown at it.But... I am now embracing all liberal policies in order to get the country to implode faster, so I think Obama needs to get the actual ARMY into the midwest to destroy whatever illegal pipeline they have laid, and then seize the entire petroleum industry so we can have a sane government running it with America's best interests in mind.
kronicfeld: It's the future conditional pluperfect subjunctive.
Surool: I'm starting to think all those Republicans saying Obama was bad for the country might not have been telling us the truth for some reason.
skullkrusher: Surool: I'm starting to think all those Republicans saying Obama was bad for the country might not have been telling us the truth for some reason.in other news: drill baby, drill is good for American now
way south: When did we go from "peak oil has passed and climate change will ruin the world" to "Obama has made gasoline the new economy and it is good"?/I thought we were supposed to be a leader in exporting renewable energy technology.
Mad_Radhu: Wow, I had no idea that Obama's Get Out the Vote software, Gordon, had become sentient and had turned against its creator. Well, at least that is better than Orca, which could barely count to potato.
BalugaJoe: Gas will still be unaffordable.
david_gaithersburg: My truck has this sticker on it, because I care.[a248.e.akamai.net image 380x345]
david_gaithersburg: So is this where so called progressives begin screaming again about how Obama is actually a Republican?Personally, give him time, he'll put a stop to this.
Lupine Chemist: xanadian: Yeah, but don't expect the price of gas to fall anytime soon.I also recall that the US is currently THE leader (or near the top) in gasoline exports. It's supposedly one of the factors that's driving up the cost here at home. Why do people think that not importing/exporting oil will somehow magically change the price on a global market? The US exports gasoline due to extra refining capacity, not to keep low prices from 'Muricah!! If you want a vision of true oil independence in North America just look at Canada. It doesn't change any of the things people think it should change. But hell, Americans in general think that most of the gasoline in their cars started in the middle east in the first place.
skullkrusher: Fracking for freedom!
Maud Dib: skullkrusher: Fracking for freedom!I drove through the Eagle Ford field last weekend on the way to and from the beach.Got-damn trucks everywhere hauling fluid and sand. Took a big rock to the windshield from one...pissed me off.
Amusement: Gas won't go down to $2 cause taxes. Propane might, and wouldn't that make summer grilling a bit more funnier?
xen0blue: I think a better analysis of the situation would be "US to become biggest producer of oil DESPITE obama"
coeyagi: david_gaithersburg: My truck has this sticker on it, because I care.[a248.e.akamai.net image 380x345]And my vehicle has a "15" dick looking for a good time" bumper sticker on it too, doesn't mean I'm saving the world.
