I dont understand the rooster.

Well, there's a lot of things in this thread I don't understand, but I feel I should at least understand the rooster.

/McNaughton used to have groovy / insane roll over explanations on his site...

It might be reference to the apostle Peter denying Jesus Christ "thrice before the cock crows."

It could be that he visited Fark and misinterpreted all of the "Keep farking that chicken" comments.

It's a reference to Jeremiah Wright's "chickens coming home to roost" remark.

Yeah, he's still butthurt over Wright.

Dimensio: Parthenogenetic: antidisestablishmentarianism: Speaking of McNaughton, has he put up any new work?

Yes. The latest is "Obamanation"

[i.imgur.com image 850x573]

Compared to his previous works, "Obamanation" is utterly incoherent, without a single consistent or meaningful message. I believe that President Obama's re-election has caused Mr. McNaughton to become even less connected to reality than he was previously.

Well his "interactive link" for the picture is up now. I'll be the first to admit that I was wrong, this really IS one of his pieces. I agree with you. Normally his shiat is crazy, but ordered. This one's all over the place. The rooster, for example, is supposed to represent Jeremiah Wright.

While his art is technically well done, a true piece of art is much like a comedian's joke - if you have to explain the punchline, you suck as an artist.

There should be some kind of conservative-painting-drinking-game.

McNaughton's work is expensive?

Why would a conservative buy a piece worth a lot of money... and therefore be something you'd want to display (presuming you are proud of your purchase), but yet have it be something that fills you with illogical rage every time you see it?

Who the fark would put out big bucks to buy a McNaughton original? Do the have rooms dedicated to Obama hate?

Captain Darling: [img94.imageshack.us image 484x640]

WTF is this guy's problem?

I just read another article about how rude politics has become, and the author noted that it's been in decline "since Watergate".

And guess what, here's Mr. Nixon again.

Hey...funny thing about Nixon?

He was Republican. It was the Democratic National Committee that was STOLEN FROM and ILLEGALLY WIRETAPPED by outright thieves, then covered up by Nixon.

I know, I know, you couldn't tell from that illustration, could you? With Obama talking to the portrait of the only President in modern memory to actually have to resign in disgrace over something that caused quite a bit more suffering than a blowjob? Why, you would have thought they were busom buddies!

Of course, it only makes sense that the Republicans would want to disown Nixon. RINO, and all that. Not only was he formally disgraced, why, just look at his record!

Pro-regulation (the EPA and OSHA, among others, were founded under him), anti-war (cut and ran out of the Nam! Negotiated with China and actually cut--CUT!--the number of nookular weapons in the US arsenal!), pro-niBONG (supported desegregation of schools and affirmative action! And now look what we have thanks to equal educational opportunity-a mulatto that got to Harvard and is now running the show! Dicky, how COULD you?)
Therefore, Nixon was definitely the libbyest lib that ever libbed, and must have retroactively been a Democrat and therefore Obama's hero.

/this is the ARITHMETIC that conservatives do to make themselves feel better

near the bust of churchill, a birth certificate:

Conspiracy theories have run rampant with Obama's mystery regarding his origin of birth. Most of the questions were started under his own Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, during the Democratic Primaries. Called, "Birthers" by the liberal news media as a means to discredit them, these people eventually succeeded in pushing Obama to release his long form birth certificate only to find out through an investigation of the Maricopa Police Department that the document was a fake. Recently it was discovered that Obama had been a citizen of Indonesia when raised by his mother abroad. What is all this?? Obama has spent millions to keep his college transcripts sealed among other things. What is he hiding? There has been no definitive conclusion to this investigation. No court will touch it and no member of Washington on the Hill will consider it; the political fallout is too great. We may never know. This is either the biggest misunderstanding or biggest lie ever perpetuated upon the American people.

Fair enough. I'm struck be how literal everything is. There is no metaphor, and there doesn't seem to be much meaning to be divined or interpreted. He should have just painted the rollovers into the work itself. It is plodding, pedantic and not much better than what a 10 year old could do with Photoshop. There is no room for viewer interpretation - you may only interpret that Barack Obama is bad, and there is nothing that motivates a viewer to question or challenge themselves.

The groovy / insane roll over explanation for the rooster is that it's a reference to Rev. Wright because he once said America's chickens have come home to roost.

Personally, my favourite part is that the best he could come up with for the repeal of DADT was a guy in uniform looking like he's not really enjoying his slice of gay wedding cake.

Read the description for Quadaffi. Apparently it's not good that we took him out, or BinLaden. These were unprecedented aggression, apparently.

Then he used the Resolute desk "as a footstool", although McNaughton ignores the fact that Bush did the same farking thing.

He's also apparently a Birther is the First Order, as evidenced in his "description" of the Christmas Tree.

And then there's the farking golf... A "record" 108 rounds. In 4 years. That's 26 rounds a year. A four farking hour round of golf ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS.

What a load of horse shiat. this is this dude's most off the rails painting yet, it's not even fun to spot all the hidden images and try to figure out what they mean. Now, it's just squeezing one out for the masses on the great canvas toilet.

Gaddafi was not on most people's favorite person list. He was a brutal dictator that was involved in past terrorism and at one point was a nuclear threat. In 2011, after the Arab Spring Uprising in Egypt, a similar rebellion began to emerge in Libya to overthrow Gaddafi. As the tide began to turn in favor of Gaddafi, Obama chose to lead a NATO attack against Libya to help the cause of "democracy" (for humanitarian reasons of course). Not only was the attack an unconstitutional act of unprovoked aggression, but again, as in Egypt, we see the Muslim Brotherhood and other radical Islamic organization jockeying for power. It's the old frying pan into the fire scenario. Obama believed he was legally justified in his actions because of a UN treaty from 1983. Does the UN trump the US Constitution?

So this guy is in favor of keeping brutal dictators engage in terrorism in power because "democracy" is bad? It pretty much sums of the conservative view of Libya. Yeah, we can't stand them Mooslimbs, but Gaddafi was bad enough that it was okay for Reagan and others to bomb him, but not oust him. Now that he is ousted, that was obviously the wrong thing to do and we surely don't want to commit any troops or assets there, unless it is kick ass State Department staff, then we need to put in a few brigades of troops, a carrier group and dedicated sats over the area. After all, we we want to help those that are really embracing western values and we value all their lives, but now that some violent minority has been caught doing a terrible deed, we need to glass the entire area.

//tldr: Whatever Obama does, it was wrong.
