Expensive, and with very little artistic value. His work strikes me as what Norman Rockwell would paint, if he had a lot less talent and was a complete political propagandist.

So, let me get this right? Obama is Thrall, the great leader from humble beginnings that was hunted by rabid white people for years, and after holding the world together with his raw power, rises to save the it from apocalypse?

OK I guess I could see that, but it's a bit of a hyperbole.

The picture referring to Dan Savage's online effort named 'It Gets Better,' which was a campaign to help prevent suicide among gay teens who were being bullied in school, or were just going through hardship in general while still young. The attempt was to reason with depressed kids by telling them that with age they will eventually come to accept and be comfortable who they are, and will find others who accept them as well.

I had to go to McNaughton's site to find a large source image to make a .gif.

I don't know... Mitt Romney is too much in the background, I would expect him to be more prominent, and the 'martyr' vibe to be at 11. McNaughton's a Mormon too, and I believe he lives in Utah County, which is to Utah what Utah is to the rest of the world when it comes to Mormons. As a result, I would expect him at this point to be painting something where Romney was in a big glowing pool of light, maybe with even a halo or a crown of thorns.

CSB:
I think we printed stuff for him at the place I worked at when I first moved to Utah, we were down in Provo, and did all of the local artists' stuff, Jesus Christ, there were shiatload of pics of Jesus Christ... One dude named Simon Dewey would crank that shiat out like crazy, actually pretty good work, but after a thousand of the same print, it got a little freaky. There was one day where one of the best artists had his new 'Jesus' come in check the new prints. After you''ve been looking at a print of Jesus all day, it causes a little bit of alarm to look up and see the dude walking in the door.

The groovy / insane roll over explanation for the rooster is that it's a reference to Rev. Wright because he once said America's chickens have come home to roost.

Personally, my favourite part is that the best he could come up with for the repeal of DADT was a guy in uniform looking like he's not really enjoying his slice of gay wedding cake.

I was wondering why all of my images resolve to a picture of Hitler.

Compared to his previous works, "Obamanation" is utterly incoherent, without a single consistent or meaningful message. I believe that President Obama's re-election has caused Mr. McNaughton to become even less connected to reality than he was previously.

Captain Darling: [img94.imageshack.us image 484x640]

WTF is this guy's problem?

I just read another article about how rude politics has become, and the author noted that it's been in decline "since Watergate".

And guess what, here's Mr. Nixon again.

Hey...funny thing about Nixon?

He was Republican. It was the Democratic National Committee that was STOLEN FROM and ILLEGALLY WIRETAPPED by outright thieves, then covered up by Nixon.

I know, I know, you couldn't tell from that illustration, could you? With Obama talking to the portrait of the only President in modern memory to actually have to resign in disgrace over something that caused quite a bit more suffering than a blowjob? Why, you would have thought they were busom buddies!

Of course, it only makes sense that the Republicans would want to disown Nixon. RINO, and all that. Not only was he formally disgraced, why, just look at his record!

Pro-regulation (the EPA and OSHA, among others, were founded under him), anti-war (cut and ran out of the Nam! Negotiated with China and actually cut--CUT!--the number of nookular weapons in the US arsenal!), pro-niBONG (supported desegregation of schools and affirmative action! And now look what we have thanks to equal educational opportunity-a mulatto that got to Harvard and is now running the show! Dicky, how COULD you?)
Therefore, Nixon was definitely the libbyest lib that ever libbed, and must have retroactively been a Democrat and therefore Obama's hero.

/this is the ARITHMETIC that conservatives do to make themselves feel better

near the bust of churchill, a birth certificate:

Conspiracy theories have run rampant with Obama's mystery regarding his origin of birth. Most of the questions were started under his own Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, during the Democratic Primaries. Called, "Birthers" by the liberal news media as a means to discredit them, these people eventually succeeded in pushing Obama to release his long form birth certificate only to find out through an investigation of the Maricopa Police Department that the document was a fake. Recently it was discovered that Obama had been a citizen of Indonesia when raised by his mother abroad. What is all this?? Obama has spent millions to keep his college transcripts sealed among other things. What is he hiding? There has been no definitive conclusion to this investigation. No court will touch it and no member of Washington on the Hill will consider it; the political fallout is too great. We may never know. This is either the biggest misunderstanding or biggest lie ever perpetuated upon the American people.

Fair enough. I'm struck be how literal everything is. There is no metaphor, and there doesn't seem to be much meaning to be divined or interpreted. He should have just painted the rollovers into the work itself. It is plodding, pedantic and not much better than what a 10 year old could do with Photoshop. There is no room for viewer interpretation - you may only interpret that Barack Obama is bad, and there is nothing that motivates a viewer to question or challenge themselves.

The groovy / insane roll over explanation for the rooster is that it's a reference to Rev. Wright because he once said America's chickens have come home to roost.

Read the description for Quadaffi. Apparently it's not good that we took him out, or BinLaden. These were unprecedented aggression, apparently.

Then he used the Resolute desk "as a footstool", although McNaughton ignores the fact that Bush did the same farking thing.

Gaddafi was not on most people's favorite person list. He was a brutal dictator that was involved in past terrorism and at one point was a nuclear threat. In 2011, after the Arab Spring Uprising in Egypt, a similar rebellion began to emerge in Libya to overthrow Gaddafi. As the tide began to turn in favor of Gaddafi, Obama chose to lead a NATO attack against Libya to help the cause of "democracy" (for humanitarian reasons of course). Not only was the attack an unconstitutional act of unprovoked aggression, but again, as in Egypt, we see the Muslim Brotherhood and other radical Islamic organization jockeying for power. It's the old frying pan into the fire scenario. Obama believed he was legally justified in his actions because of a UN treaty from 1983. Does the UN trump the US Constitution?

So this guy is in favor of keeping brutal dictators engage in terrorism in power because "democracy" is bad? It pretty much sums of the conservative view of Libya. Yeah, we can't stand them Mooslimbs, but Gaddafi was bad enough that it was okay for Reagan and others to bomb him, but not oust him. Now that he is ousted, that was obviously the wrong thing to do and we surely don't want to commit any troops or assets there, unless it is kick ass State Department staff, then we need to put in a few brigades of troops, a carrier group and dedicated sats over the area. After all, we we want to help those that are really embracing western values and we value all their lives, but now that some violent minority has been caught doing a terrible deed, we need to glass the entire area.

//tldr: Whatever Obama does, it was wrong.

This guy is seriously butthurt about everything.

Read the description for Quadaffi. Apparently it's not good that we took him out, or BinLaden. These were unprecedented aggression, apparently.

Then he used the Resolute desk "as a footstool", although McNaughton ignores the fact that Bush did the same farking thing.

He's also apparently a Birther is the First Order, as evidenced in his "description" of the Christmas Tree.

The flight of jets to the left of Air Force 1.

Obama sells 30 billion dollars worth of F15 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia

Is this bad? Bush sold them some, as well as precision munitions and other military hardware. They already had 70 F-15 and this was to update those and add something like 80 more to their fleet. Were these special halal models that will be able to take over good Christian places later?

I'd say I was confused, but I know the only reason it is bad to now sell arms to an ally is because anything Obama does is bad.

Why would a conservative buy a piece worth a lot of money... and therefore be something you'd want to display (presuming you are proud of your purchase), but yet have it be something that fills you with illogical rage every time you see it?

Who the fark would put out big bucks to buy a McNaughton original? Do they have rooms dedicated to Obama hate?

I'll tell you one thing, Obama is a god to some people and it is the conservatives. He is their god of irrational hate.

Ed Gruberman gets it. The Hebrew word transliterated as ‶Messiah" literally means, ‶the Anointed One." Sarah Palin actually was anointed under the hands of witch-hunting Ugandan minister Pastor Murthee specifically to lead America in the name of Jesus! The Dominionists were so sure that it was the Manifest Will of Almighty God that McCain win in 2008, and that God would shortly thereafter ‶call him home" (he did, after all, have melanoma, far and away the deadliest of the skin cancers, twice!) leaving the LORD′s Anointed Palin to ascend to the Presidency to lead this nation ‶back to" (their version of) Jesus.

And then, the unthinkable happened: McCain (and thus Palin) lost! The LORD′s Anointed went down in defeat! The Manifest Will of Almighty God had somehow been thwarted! But how!? Who or what could do that!?

Now do you understand why Obama was often called ‶the Antichrist" (a phrase that does not appear anywhere in the Bible, for the record)? Who else could thwart the Manifest will of Almighty God?

In another thread this weekend (I think it was the Southern Governors thread), one FARKer repeatedly challenged another (a right-winger) to come up with a reason other than racism to explain the virulent hatred of Obama. The right-winger never came through, but I personally think that this reason trumps the racism angle (which is icing on the cake for many right-wingers).

So, they mockingly call Obama the Left-Wing / LIEberal / etc. ‶Anointed One" aka ‶Messiah" out of basically the mother of all sour grapes, because their own Anointed One got soundly defeated, just as it seemed so certain to them that God was finally about to ‶take America back."

Example: the one about the kid making a clay pony in the Dicky Dawkins Day School as part of learning about evolution has as its reference ‶Luke 17:1−2." Know what that says? It's the one where Jesus says that it is better to have a millstone tied around your neck and be cast into the depths of the sea than to cause a child to sin (or to ‶offend" a child, according to the KJV and some others).

Check ′m all out!

Unknown_Poltroon: COMALite J: This is why the Republican Party would do well to never, ever, mention the word ‶Teleprompter" ever again!

That was farked up. Really frightening.

More than you know. More even than Ben Swann said in that video, and in his follow-up which talks about the DNC doing something similar (the unfortunately far more famous but far less serious incident with the vote over symbolic language in the Democratic Party platform mentioning God and recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel [that ‶vote′s" ‶results" were also pre-scripted in the teleprompter as shown by video). In that one he rightly points out that both the RNC and DNC bosses have, by these shenanigans, renounced any claim to the whole concept of a Democratic Republic (the terms their very Parties′s names are based on!). All that matters to them is that they retain power over their Parties, even at the cost of losing elections. The will of their delegates, and the voters that elected them, no longer matter in the slightest to them.

But here′s what Mr. Swann missed, or at least, didn′t mention:

• First off, just how big is a ²/3 supermajority? Many people think that it′s not all that much bigger than an ordinary majority, but it is. For an ordinary majority, you only need one more ‶Aye" vote than the total of
‶Nay" votes. 50% + 1. Not so for a supermajority.

Do the math: 1 + 2 = 3, right? Well, ¹/3 + ²/3 = ³/3 = the whole! Since 2 is twice as much as 1 (1 + 1 = 2), likewise ²/3 is twice as much as ¹/3, so it follows that for a ²/3 supermajority, for each and every ‶Nay" vote, there must be a bare minimum of two ‶Aye" votes!

For a floor voice vote such as both Conventions held in both cases, the ‶Ayes" would have to be audibly clearly louder and more numerous than the ‶Nays" to clearly indicate even an ordinary majority! If the vote only required an ordinary majority, the Chair could not declare it passed unless the volume and numbers of the ‶Ayes" were clearly and obviously louder and greater than the ‶Nays". That's for an ordinary majority, and it′s clear from these videos that neither Convention could legitimately say that they had even that much!

If there is any question as there would′ve been in both cases were the platform and rules changes requiring only an ordinary majority instead of the ²/3 supermajority that both actually required, the Chair is not supposed to simply declare the winner. S/he is supposed to hold a slower vote method that involves a clearer, more reliable means of counting the votes to make sure. At the very least, s/he should call for a show of hands! If that remained unclear, then a full-fledged one-by-one roll-call vote is in order, or paper or electronic ballot voting or some such (which American Idol has shown can be done in seconds with modern technology ― arguably even faster than a floor voice vote!).

For a ²/3 supermajority to be legitimately declared the winner of a floor voice vote without requiring resorting to show of hands or roll call or other voting method, the ‶Ayes" would have to be audibly clearly more than twice as loud as the ‶Nays"!! Listen to the video again: they couldn't even legitimately have declared ordinary majorities! No way in aytch ee double hockey sticks could they declare a ²/3 supermajority passage!

No, in both cases, the measures were soundly defeated! Yet the Chairs declared both as having passed, as pre-scripted in the teleprompters!

• In the RNC case, immediately after Bœhner announced the sham pre-scripted ‶results" of the ‶vote," there erupted shouts of ‶U.S.A.!! U.S.A.!!" Delegates later stated that they had previously been instructed by the Party bosses to shout that as soon as the results were announced.

Why? Listen carefully. At the same time as those shouts, you can barely, but clearly if you listen carefully, hear other shouts: ‶Objection!" and ‶Point of Order!" The rules of parliamentary procedure state that if the Chair hears either of those things said or shouted by anyone present after a floor voice vote or similar proceeding, s/he is obligated to immediately halt all further proceedings until the objection or point of order has been addressed. Those pre-arranged shouts of ‶U.S.A.!! U.S.A.!!" conveniently (almost) drowned those out, giving Bœhner cause to claim that he heard no objection (as the teleprompter had also been pre-scripted for him to say ― and note that he rushed to say it)!

Which leads to the even bigger issue that Mr. Swann didn′t mention, but first, a brief list of the differences between the RNC and subsequent DNC ‶incidents" (not to downplay how very serious what the DNC did was, but they are by no means equivalent):

• The DNC did not (to the best of my knowledge, anyway) hold the delegations of two whole states and the leader of the opposition on the relevant committee captive on a shuttle bus until after the vote had happened, clearly intended to stack the vote. The RNC not only did this (as Mr. Swann reveals in the video I linked to before), but also (as revealed in an earlier Ben Swann video) had earlier refused to seat another State′s delegates (because they were largely Ron Paul supporters) ― in other words, acting as if this proposed rule had already passed!

• Both the DNC and RNC pre-scripted the results of their votes, yes. But as I said before, the DNC one was about symbolic language in the Party platform, which, while it managed to rile up segments of the population, doesn′t actually affect much. The RNC vote was on a permanent change to the RNC rules that are designed to forever prevent any grassroots movement from ever again rising to power within the GOP. As Ben points out, had it been in effect in 2008, it would′t kept the Tea Party from rising to power and there would be no Tea Party Caucus today, and had it been in effect in 1976, Ronald Reagan would never have become President. The RNC one may not involve the news-bait sound-bite words ‶God" and ‶Jerusalem," but it had far more serious of an actual impact on the future of this nation.

• Both the DNC and RNC pre-scripted the results of their votes, but look at how differently the Chairs handled this. The DNC's Los Angeles Mayor Villarosa obviously wanted to do the right thing. He showed that he had a conscience. He knew that there wasn′t even a clear majority, let alone supermajority, voting for it. He apparently didn′t know proper parliamentary procedure, though, because instead of asking for a show of hands or roll call, he repeated the voice vote calls three times. Finally, he was told to just proceed to read the script and ignore what the delegates voted! Unfortunately, he backed down and did precisely that. I′d have a lot of respect for him had he stood his ground.

Now compare what Mayor Villarosa did with what Speaker Bœhner did: Bœhner simply ran roughshod over the express will of the delegates, which, even after their blatant stacking of the vote by blocking the seating of one opposition State's delegates through invalid procedural methods (acting as if this rule were already in effect) and holding the delegations of two other States captive on a shuttle bus, preventing them from being present for this critical vote, they still didn′t have even a clear ordinary majority, let alone supermajority! Yet, unlike Mayor Villarosa, Speaker Bœhner didn't even bat an eye nor show even a moment′s hesitation, not so much as a twinge of shame nor even of conscience, over what he was doing to his own Party′s delegates! He flagrantly ignored the proper rules of parliamentary procedure and of the whole concept of voting, and instead handed down the pre-dictated decreed outcome from the GOP bosses. Without even a hint of conscience!

• And that leads us to the really big difference in seriousness between the two: You just watched the Speaker of the United States Congress House of Representatives, arguably the most powerful directly elected person in the nation, completely ignore the very basis of democracy in a key vote for his own Party, involving his own delegates! This brings up a vital question: has he done this before, in Congress!? Has he sent bills on to the Senate or even the President that did not actually pass a majority vote of the House? Has he declared bills as not passing that did pass? We just watched him demonstrate how willing he is, without a hint of shame, to flagrantly perjure the results of a floor vote! This, mind you, for his own Party! These happen in the House as well!

Hope

This painting has so much negative that I had to find a way to suggest that there is always hope. You will notice that the oil spill quietly funnels into a crack in the ground and eventually leads to small green sprout. Just as the oil will eventually become clean waters and wetlands again, so shall our country become clean again. But this may, like the small sprout, require an act of God.

Thats right kids, don't worry about that BP spill killing the wetlands and fouling the water. It will become clean again. Its those damned, godless, job killing regulations that lie to you saying you can't feed your plants crude!

It did dawn on me on my morning commute, watching the exhaust from the cars in front of me frost, that oil does become CO2 and H2O. We can burn our way out of water shortages.

That's not a violation of parliamentary procedure, that's a felony.

True dat. Said bus driver needs to be subpœnaed and told that either he can take the felony fall himself, or he can turn in those who ordered and/or paid him to do it.

I'm a bit miffed that Jon Stewart did a whole segment on the far more famous but far less important DNC rigged vote, but neither he nor Colbert even mentioned this one to the best of my knowledge. Maybe they didn′t know about it.
