Dirtybird971: Israel is a bunch of thieves and bullies it seems to me. They decided they were going to take Golan Heights and were surprised when Syria got pissed? I mean if Canada decided to take Maine or Washington the "real 'mericans" of the USA would do the same shiat Syria's doing.

I'll be labeled anti-semitic but I think Israel causes more problems than most others over there. And supporting them for any reason is played out.

A better analogy would be if Canada was bombing Buffalo and the USA decided to go take Toronto and not give it back until Canada stopped bombing us.

And people wonder why Israel is pretty insistent on holding on to the Golan.

As far as Israel 'deciding to take the Golan', it just shows a complete ignorance of history and the behavior of Syria literally violating the ceasefire thousands of times from 1948 to 1967 using the Golan Heights as a base to attack Israel and prevent Israel from settling in its legally owned demilitarized zone on our side of the border.

If artillery shells were not landing in the Golan it would be a no lose situation. Assad and the Brotherhood are throwing skulls at each other, and Iran and its proxies are making themselves very unpopular in the Arab world supposring the Chinless one.

I do think Assad it trying to provoke the IDF to play the 'fighting the Zionists' card as did Saddam during the first Gulf War with his Scuds.

the Golan Heights, which tower 3,000 feet above the Galilee, to shell Israeli farms and villages. Syria's attacks grew more frequent in 1965 and 1966, forcing children living on kibbutzim in the Huleh Valley to sleep in bomb shelters. Israel repeatedly protested the Syrian bombardments to the UN Mixed Armistice Commission, which was charged with policing the cease-fire, but the UN did nothing to stop Syria's aggression - even a mild Security Council resolution expressing "regret" for such incidents was vetoed by the Soviet Union. Meanwhile, Israel was condemned by the United Nations when it retaliated.
