Going into town looks like more fun than getting back home.

2012-11-11 11:46:58 PM
Watching him take those stairs hurt my butt.

2012-11-11 11:51:22 PM
Were they drug tested?

2012-11-11 11:54:15 PM
That was insane. I wonder how many people were seriously hurt/killed doing that run.

basemetal: Were they drug tested?

I think you need drugs to try that shiat.

2012-11-12 12:36:21 AM
sure seems to slow up a lot. extreme, but not EXTREME.

2012-11-12 01:23:21 AM
Aw hell no.

/too old

I'm shocked at the lack of signage of the official track. Would seem pretty easy to get turned around.

2012-11-12 02:55:30 AM
Wow. That had Bad News written all over it. Congrats to them for pulling it off.

/goes great with Lionel Ritchie's "Still" playing in the background.

2012-11-12 03:36:55 AM
Wow. Just...wow.

On a totally different note... This is why we have zoning laws in America. Those crammed houses and little tiny alleyways in those outer poblaciones are like a labyrinth.

slayer199: That was insane. I wonder how many people were seriously hurt/killed doing that run.

None.

2012-11-12 05:49:18 AM
I ride motorbikes. Fast. But watching that was something else! I can't understand how those guys can even see where they are supposed to be going, let alone control the bike down a path like that. Amazing.

2012-11-12 06:37:40 AM
That was fantastic.

Now if I could just convince people not to think they are this guy when they get out on the trails.

2012-11-12 06:44:51 AM
WOW the "entertainment" tab is now a you tube aggregate...if that was George Clooney, it would make sense...

/ makes sense cuz it's fark
// "what else is going downhill fast?"

Yeah, where's the three hour video of him cycling back up?

/Was taught skiing by a Bulgarian ski champion who trained in Borovets before they built the cable car. He used to take three hours to walk up and two minutes to ski down.

I was going to say "seriously? this is like the 3rd or 4th time a video like this was posted", then I watched it. Yea, holy crap is a good title. narrow paths, poles sticking out everywhere, massive flights of stairs. That does NOT look fun.

There have been a few of the mountain biking threads like this one and this one, but this one is like a combination of the two. At least this time they had padding on the poles and no animals randomly roaming across the race path. Of course even with padding on the poles, there's still 100 other ways to get injured doing that.

Of course if they ever remake one the movie "BMX Bandits" (without the branding obviously), I'd hope they'd do something like this for the movie.

Cyclists: crazier sober than you are drunk since 1925.

They seem to keep pushing this stuff closer and closer to the straight-up suicidal.

2012-11-12 07:36:56 AM
Wow!

/Wow.

2012-11-12 07:41:23 AM
Pffft. I could do that.

/unimpressed

2012-11-12 07:47:06 AM
Nothing snarky at all.. That was some cool shiat..

2012-11-12 07:47:55 AM
Ow.Ow.Ow.Ow.Ow...

Considering most of that was run through a Favela (or whatever the Bolivians call it), the rider is lucky he didn't catch the odd pedestrian.

There isn't enough whiskey.

2012-11-12 07:51:49 AM
Fine, I'll be that guy...

Not that what he was doing wasn't way more than I could ever do... but it's like Red Bull just makes up random crap for people to do so they can slap their logo on it and call it exTREME!

2012-11-12 07:53:42 AM
It's good to see my Red Bull dollars going to good use.

Going back up probably isn't as fun.

Umm.. I'm usually all against corporate shilling but I give Redbull a pass as the shiat they shill is actually pretty farking extreme and they usually earn their product placement..

Young people these days. What you saw, was my way to school. Except I had to go uphill. On foot. With school rucksack and heavy shopping. In the snow. Uphill both ways.

2012-11-12 08:21:03 AM
I like how the padding on the poles is at the right height to partially protect the bike, but not high enough to do much of anything for the rider.

2012-11-12 08:23:26 AM
Still waiting for the excitement to start...

Holy carp.

/I've seen plays more exciting than this. Honest to God, plays.

2012-11-12 08:28:16 AM
I would have been impressed if the rider would have had a Milt Wilcox baseball card clothes pinned in the back wheel.

2012-11-12 08:37:04 AM
937 steps, speed-bumps, ramps and unpaved roads and the camera was more stable than anything jjabrams has ever shot.

vartian: basemetal: Were they drug tested?

I think you need drugs to try that shiat.

That's what the testing is for.

"Are the levels of drugs sufficient? Yes, ok he can go"

OnlyM3: 937 steps, speed-bumps, ramps and unpaved roads and the camera was more stable than anything jjabrams has ever shot.

That's a damned fact.

I did something similar to this ONCE in college; it didn't end well. Some of those red clay hills in SC have some NAStay rocks jutting from them, and when autumn rolls around, the rains wash out some vicious little gulleys that are hidden by the leaves, *juuuust* wide enough to catch a bike tire and wrench it right out from under you. At 35 MPH, that shiat hurts on impact.

degenerate-afro: At least this time they had padding on the poles and no animals randomly roaming across the race path. Of course even with padding on the poles, there's still 100 other ways to get injured doing that.

See, I don't get that. It's nice and all that they padded the poles, but for cryin' out loud, why bother? there are literally a hundred other terrible ways to die on that path. At least a pole impact has the potential for a quick death!

they actually use babies as brakes there...

Thank you so much for avoiding the temptation to blast some crappy music. I liked hearing the teeth chatter on the landings.

Mayhem of the Black Underclass: Um, did the brakes sound like a baby screaming to anyone else?

I think that was people blowing whistles as the rider approached a drop or curve to warn people.

/or scare away evil demons that will take his soul when he dies shortly

2012-11-12 10:11:29 AM
pfffft,..... i could do that on my Schwinn with the banana seat and the ape hangers. riding a wheelie.

2012-11-12 10:14:58 AM
I would've liked it better without the fish-eye lens.

2012-11-12 10:21:17 AM
It looks like this run was planned out very well. If you pay attention, you can see color coded speed markers through the whole course. It looks like babyblue, yellow and red were the codes for fast, caution, dead slow. You can see not only flags along the way, but the bumper pads on poles, and I even noticed some wall markers.

Yeah this was a really tough, dangerous course, but it was also not just a random dude making a speed run.

2012-11-12 10:27:16 AM
These videos are cool and all, but I can't stand watching helmet cams that are adjusted down a bit... I keep wanting to "look up" but the video won't let me do that, dammit.

OKm that was cool, but WTF was with the guys in the Zebra suits? That was just creepy strange.
