mikaloyd: LawrencePerson: "Cutler finished 7-of-14 for 40 yards and two interceptions with a QB rating of 16.7"

that sounds bad on paper

Having a QB rating lower than your Jake score should count for something.

The Bears will be fine. It's not like they played like this against the Jags.

Although, if Cutler is out for any extended period of time, that could make the next few weeks really suck.

Texans, Ravens, Patriots and Broncos win.

Falcons and Bears lose, while the 49ers tie.

Ladies and gentlemen, your NFC domination at work.

While the Packers wisely take the week off. All of this favors GB.

Was at the game....

I really can't fault any of the Bears players for the drops, despite how important some of those catches were. When they talk about it raining at the game - there were portions of the game where it was more 'misting', creating slick surfaces. Between snaps the official would protect the ball with a towel.

As a Bears fan, if there is any loss I could excuse, it would be this one.

/Fark Dobbins, that hit wasn't 'at his chest'
//The TD pass by the Texans was dropped - we all saw it on the replay monitor
///Tim Jennings should've had a Pick 6, he was never touched by a defender after his interception
////Was still a fun game despite the loss, low score, and weather

QBR last night: Campbell 71.4, Jay Cutler 17.1. So why is Chicago talk radio blowing up on Jason Campbell? Jason Campbell did not lose that game last night, Jay Cutler did.

AAAAAAAAAH I HATE THIS ARGUMENT. The only parts of this argument that are valid are cross-conference comparisons of the Texans beating the Bears and the Giants sucking against Cincinnati. The fact that the Ravens blew out AFC also-rans, while the Falcons lost to NFC also-rans does not mean the AFC is better than the NFC. It's the same reason Alabama losing to A&M doesn't mean the SEC isn't good.
People stupidly equate "Best grouping of teams" with "Grouping that contains the single best team" with "Grouping that contains the team with the best record".

That wasn't my argument. I'm stating that all the best teams in the AFC won while all the best teams in the NFC did not. The Super Bowl is not decided by a weighted average of AFC talent vs NFC talent

/yes, this argument also sucks.

I forget if I even picked teh Thursday game.....so I won't count it. Or i guess i could go back and look but tht would take time.

@NE -13 Buffalo 53
NE outright. Rough Buff I was trying to believe in all season, but they're just bad.

0-1, Buff lost by only 4.

NYG -3.5 At CIN 49
I'm gonna pick CIN, for no reason. Well mainly I guess because NYG is overrated. That said, CIN is on a dreadful 1-4 slide.....I'll say cover somehow.

1-1. CIN crushed NYG, 18 points.

@TB -3 San Dog 47.5
I'll say TB outright. TB is "only" 4-4 but they are 3-2 in their last five and appear to be getting things right. But, that doesn't mean dick with ATL at 8-0. But TB wins outright today.

2-1, TB by 10

DEN -4 At CARO 47
Denver outright. I think maybe 5.5 or 6 would have gotten more action.

3-1. Donks by 22.

@ MIA -6 TENN 45
MIA outright. They are just 2-1 at home, but TENN 1-3 OTR. MIA is about 19th in scoring offense but TENN the NFL-worst in points surrendered, averaging 34.2 per.

3-2. Holy crap. MIA only scored 3., and TENN dropped 37 on that ass.

@ BALT -7.5 OAK 46.5
gonna pick OAK to cover. Balt is 12th in scoring (OAK 21st) and OAK gives up a ton of points but I think 7.5 -- while a solid line -- is a lot of points. Balt wins but not by this many. So say hi.

3-3
. Ravens scored 55?

@ ATL -2.5 At NO 53.5
Take the over, for one, and I say ATL in a substantial win, on the order of 35-23.

3-4. Saints with what I read was a last second win. Didn't see it but I guess it came down tot he wire. The over was obvious but I thought ATL in a demonstrable win.

DET -2.5 At MINN 46
I invoke the Tao of Denny Green on Minnesota: "they are who we thought they were". I never believed in them and there's no reason to start now. Single digits, but a DET win. 24-17.

3-5. Vikes by 10. dammit. Vikings think I am who they thought I was.

@SEA -6 NYJ 38.5
You rarely see O/U int he 30s. SEA is third-best in points surrendered, and NYJ's offense is 25th in scored. Not shaping up well for the Jets, so I'll say SEA in a 23-13 type game. Under just makes sense
.

4-5. Right on the under (35, at 28-7)

DAL -2 @PHI 44.5
"Embattled coach with 3-5 record and shaky QB situation leads team against....uh.....embattled coach with 3-5 record and shaky QB situation." I'll say Philly but only due to Vick getting pulled and former UofA standout Nick Foles coming in and thrwoing 3 TD passes.

4-6. Foles indeed came in and had a pretty quick TD pass (and became the first UofA QB to complete a pass since 1974) but DAL with a decisive 15 point beatdown.

@SFO -12.5 STL 38.5
SFO doesn't exactly light the scoreboard up either. So, take the under, but.....Against my own judgment I'll say a cover. Low scoring game, 17-9, 20-10 but a cover. (already regret saying this).

5-6. First tie since what, 2008? and way wrong about the o/u (48).

@CHI -1.5 HOUS 39.5
I'll say under, with a Houston win (field position, the Cutler INT factor) on the order of 17-13. Low single digits.

6-6.

MNF
@PITT -12.5 KC 42
Pitt outright. what a dog of a game.

the houston texans remind me of the atlanta falcons of 2010

a safe conservative team that wins games in the most boring fashion possible

with the similar connection being that they tend to get exposed by Rodgers

I sound fat: QBR last night: Campbell 71.4, Jay Cutler 17.1. So why is Chicago talk radio blowing up on Jason Campbell? Jason Campbell did not lose that game last night, Jay Cutler did.

They are? Sure Campbell didn't throw any picks, but he nearly gave up a pick-6 that Daniel Manning mis-timed, and Jason made some decisions that even a concussed Jay would scratch his head at. Also, his wind up and release is a throwing motion that almost makes me yearn for the fluid crisp arm of a Tim Tebow or Bryon Leftwich.

Also, this Bear weather thing has got to go. Bears weather is COLD and that's it. Rain (Super Bowl '06 season) or Snow (Pats game 2 years ago) is generally a disaster for the Bears D, and I'm surprised the D only gave up 13 last night.

It's always worth it to see Da Bears in person, but you have to understand that there will ALWAYS be that ONE FAN within five rows of you who is loud, obnoxious, and refuses to be supportive of the team.

The media and the internet warriors aren't accounting for the weather, and the stats don't tell the full story. It was an excellent defensive game, and I don't think anyone who was out in the weather expected any explosive offensive plays. Both teams had a number of drops, I believe Kellen Davis had an especially difficult time because he was also placing his hands on more wet things (ground/jersey, etc). Fine sheen mist made everything slick, they were attempting to wipe off the ball with a towel between downs, but as soon as you place that crap on the field - it's soaked again.

People look to knock Cutler way too much, but without the influence of commentators who are paid to fill dead air, and an understanding of the environment, that game really was excusable.

We needed to chunk yardage, and he was throwing 1-3 yard check downs. Also, on the final drive, he missed a read to an open TE that would've resulted in a first down.

Personally, I'm not faulting anyone. It was a good defensive battle, and the offenses were relatively stymied due to weather conditions. The Texans have an excellent defense, as do we.

There were a number of questionable calls by the refs, including a Pick 6 that was ruled down by contact even though the offensive player never touched him, and the refs missing what everyone could plainly see as the ball making contact with the ground during the TD catch by the Texans.

DeathByGeekSquad: ball making contact with the ground during the TD catch by the Texans.

Yeah, the NFL allows players to trap the ball against the ground these days, which is stupid in concept, but when applied to that play it's a TD catch.

If that TE was Davis, it would not have resulted in a first down.

Kyle Adams - the one whose gloves weren't slick from blocking all game.
