2014 single player, 2015 persistent world. more money = more stuff, faster

on top of the crowdfunding he has ventrure capital. more crowdfunding unlocks more VC for him because it shows more interest in the game.

No MMO?. No thanks.

BIG Wing Commander/Roberts fan.

Playing The Infinite Black (open Beta) on my Droid at the moment. If TIB and this were to merge would get a boner.

it IS a persistent world, if that's what you're aiming for.

per·sis·tent (pr-sstnt, -zs-)
adj.
1. Refusing to give up or let go; persevering obstinately.
2. Insistently repetitive or continuous: a persistent ringing of the telephone.
3. Existing or remaining in the same state for an indefinitely long time; enduring: persistent rumors; a persistent infection.
4. Botany Lasting past maturity without falling off, as the calyx on an eggplant or the scales of a pine cone.
5. Zoology Retained permanently, rather than disappearing in an early stage of development: the persistent gills of fishes.

Not sure what you mean. When I read the FAQ, it said that it is NOT an MMO.

Everything is not broken into "MMO" and "single player". The game will be fully online with an optional single player portion. Roberts has already said that it's impossible to make it like WoW because of the high-end physics involved.

Read this.

A big part of what he's getting at is the way that the servers will handle the galaxy. There's one server that houses all the player data (cargo, alliances, net worth, gear, etc) and the smaller servers will house the physics, the combat, and the individual sectors.

Much like EVE online, but when the combat and singleplayer portions are being played, they're instanced, like in a raid.

It's not an MMO, but it kind of is since everyone plays on the same server (hence it being a PERSISTENT world [your definition #3]. But there's no monthly fee.

Sargun's link there should explain much better. It clears up a lot of confusion.

35$ is the lowest pledge that gives you the full game. Much cheaper than any recent big games, you just have to wait 2 years =D.
Well worth it, this could be the biggest thing for space sims in the last decade.
