"I don't think it's about the Republican Party needing to become more moderate; I really believe it's the Republican Party becoming more modern," she said. "And whether it's Hispanics, whether it's women, whether it's young people, the Republican Party has to make it a priority to take our values, to take our vision to every corner of this country."

I met Congresswoman McMorris-Rodgers about a month ago, spent about 90 minutes with her.

After that time I could not even stand to have my picture taken with her.

For me she epitomized the GOP groupthink; we have our agenda, we have our money flowing, you are with us or against us.

I pledged every day to the United States of America, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Take your faux bible, your faux rage, your faux values, and shove them squarely up your ass. America has outgrown you.

I don't see how an slut-shaming app that translates into Spanish is going to win you any votes, but full speed ahead Republicans!

I agree. It needs to become a minor "third" party and let someone more responsible and sane be the opposition party.

2012-11-11 04:00:34 PM
I absolutely agree. The Republican party should continue to move toward the right as far as they can. Let's see how that works out for them. Clearly it did them no favors in the Presidential election.

2012-11-11 04:11:34 PM
They don't need to do anything they don't want. They might not be a nationally relevant movement in ten years, but is that something they need?

Too late for a decent deep dicking to help. Alas.

Highest ranked woman House Republican.
Although I'd be fine of the GOP decide to replace Boehner as speaker. That sort of human sacrifice is traditional for this level of screwup.

2012-11-11 05:44:56 PM
You're right. Boehner should refuse to allow any bills to come to a vote until Obama signs the Obamacare repeal and insist on making all of the Bush tax cuts permanent. That's definitely the formula for success.

Yep, not enough Hispanics knew that the Republicans wanted them all deported and not enough women knew that they wanted to mandate sticking probes up their private parts and force them to have rape babies and not enough young people knew that Republicans are primarily the party of rich old white men that consider them all leeches that only voted for Obama because he gives them free stuff.

She is absolutely right. They really need to do a better job at getting this information out to these people.

So don't change your openly misogynistic, bigoted divisive ways just somehow convince the people you are actively working to disenfranchise to think like you?

That's your cunning plan?

is there a name for the condition where a political party ceases to try shaping itself around its components, and instead demands its components adhere to the party?

other than 'batshiat crazy', that is. i'm sure the russians have a word for t his.

They are just going to keep hedging their bets, that either there will be an Evangelical Spring where they f*ck like jackrabbits to make new Christian soldier voters in the near future to outdo the shifting demographics, or that a moderate who can EFFECTIVELY bullish*t the evangelicals comes along in the GOP.

My friends tell me that Christie is that guy. No nonsense. Won't pander to evangelicals or special interests (which is kinda antithetical to what I just wrote, but they dig the cut of his enormous jib).

"You realize that is a recipe for defeat?" I say.

"Yes, but we'd vote for him!"

You can't put in Friar Tuck when the damn bloodlust of the base is for f*cking Darth Sidious.

I had to Yoink this from an earlier thread.

'So, basically, the entire Republican Party is the guy who thinks the stripper really likes him'.

She's right... They don't need to become more moderate. They can stay exactly as farked up as they are right now and I won't mind a bit.

2014 is coming... and if you don't change your ways, Republicans, you're going to lose what little power you have left. All of it.

2012-11-11 09:02:49 PM
Yep, they are planning to double down on the derp.

I just feel it in my bones.

I don't know, reality no longer matters. Hatred for the black man and his supposed socialistic upheaval as divined by Fox News is all that the simple red state dweller cares for or understands. And anyone who has D next to their name is the devil by association.

It all comes down to educational trending data - if our children is not learning (Bush), they be praying, and that can only help the GOP.

You mean like the last four years, which resulted in a few seats (but not enough) picked up in both houses? They just need to hire better spin doctors at Fox.

I don't think there's enough red staters to win national elections, and the most populous red states are trending bluer.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the Republican party. Anyone with a brain can see that they took a drubbing with women, minorities and young people.

I just can't see how it will be possible for Republicans to court these voters without significantly changes to their policy positions.

2012-11-11 09:09:52 PM
Keep on electing those Tea Party patriots and they will be sure to appeal to more of the country. Great plan.

2016 is gonna be a very bad one for them if they don't shape up. Presidential election, so high voter turnout that will boost local and state races coupled with 23 GOP Senators and only 10 Dem Senators up for election. And a bunch of those GOP Senators are the first-term teabaggers.

2012-11-11 09:12:24 PM
"And whether it's Hispanics, whether it's women, whether it's young people, the Republican Party has to make it a priority to take our values, to take our vision to every corner of this country."

So they are going to Hispanics hate Hispanics, women hate women, and young people want to screw over all young people? Good luck with that.

Not just dumb people. Overpaid dumb people. There's a big difference.

2012-11-11 09:13:00 PM
So they're not going to change anything at all, and keep running against a president who doesn't have to deal with re-election while heading into an election cycle that favors the incumbent's party.

Go right ahead. The next two years will be collecting more Republican bigotry for the 2014 races. And that will be incredibly useful in 2016 as well.

Highest ranking House Republican woman. Subby forgot a vital word which is threatening to mire this thread in "WTF" posts for pages yet to come.
