Memo to Republicans and Fark Independents™:

Nonsense like smitty's headline is precisely the kind of thing that caused your side to lose the election: you've wrap yourselves up into a comfortable fantasy world instead of facing facts. I would've thought Tuesday's results would have broken you out of your bubble...but, a lot of you seem to want to double down on the derp.

Don't listen to the posters above me, submitter. They are clearly part of the liberal conspiracy against Allen West. All of his supporters need to double and triple down on this as hard as they can so the rats won't steal another victory from a true patriot. You should be as loud about this as often as you can, and accept no other outcome aside from Allen West being elected.

Godspeed.

Just how bad do you have to suck to lose an election as a Republican in Florida? His district is GOP +4. Every method possible was used to restrict voting of Democratic groups. And yet there was somehow a Democratic surge of control in this district only that allowed 140% of the electorate to turn out? It's like saying that Republicans took over a precinct in Massachusetts and stole an election.

i love it when conservatives intentionally misuse the noun democrat as an adjective. it's so... derpy. and it makes my schadenfreude in their total and abject failure that much more sweet.

Yeah, Townhall also thought Romney would win.
I'd LOVE to take the time and congratulate all the losers in the Townhall.com threads who said things like:

Dear LORD,

Please bar satan from our voting places and allow free people to decide our fate. Forgive us LORD for our transgressions (abortion and gay marriage) and allow your people to stand up against tyranny and unrighteous behavior. Allow your people the opportunity for a new beginning by voting your morals, ethics, and values.

We have had enough of bad government. Give Romney the winds to fill his sails to victory for the good of the country.

In Jesus' name..Amen

He (probably through his surrogates) will scream racism and claim that he lost because he's black. I'll also bet he sues to have the election overturned and he being declared the winner, citing that you can not deny a man a job based on race. The left doesn't lose gracefully.

Now that there is a recount being conducted, West has the option to contest the election if fraud or misconduct may have changed the result, whether or not the recount changes the outcome of the election.

However.... "TURNOUT PERCENTAGES WILL SHOW OVER 100% DUE TO A TWO PAGE BALLOT. NOT ALL VOTERS VOTED THE SECOND CARD CONTAINING THE AMENDMENTS."

Conservative blogs are also reporting a 108% turnout in Wood County in Ohio. I suspect the claim to be similarly reliable when compared with actual reality.

I'm going to regret asking this:

Is anyone here: anyone at all, the least bit concerned that there were more total votes than the total number of registered voters?

Or do you doubt the veracity of this detail of the story? Townhall is probably about as reliable of a source as The Register, but it does list several verifiable facts and figures, such as the location (St. Lucie county), the registered voting population (175,554) and the number of ballots cast (247,713). This isn't hard, all we have to do to confirm or deny is contact the state's supervisor of election (Gertrude Walker), or her office. We can't do that monday because, well, federal holiday, but Tuesday we could make such contact...

I don't give a shiat about Al West or whoever is running in a given district. Not my state, so it has no effect on me. I'm much, much more worried about the state of our electoral system... either the ballot boxes were ludicrously stuffed, or else someone farked up the count and double-counted close to half the ballots.

If the latter, then yeah, they need to be fired (but probably won't be since... government job), if the former... how could we prevent such fraud from occurring again?

Anyone out there have a third explanation?

Tea Party strategy firmed up months before the election.

Part of the strategy is to have talking points, radio and tv ads, letters to the editor all in the can well before the election.

The negative attack campaign style continues with no end in sight. Welcome to the Tea Party Post-Election Insurgency Binge.

I examined the report itself. The 140.92% total is of "cards cast", not of votes cast which, as is explained at the site, is a result of a two-page ballot.

In fact, if you go down further in the report, it actually lists 'registered voters' and 'votes counted' and it's all perfectly normal.

A more reliable source of information than Townhall would result if you started reading my morning turds like tea leaves.

Until it shows up from a source that doesn't spend the majority of its time lying, I don't give a flying fark. All the Conservative Little sites like Townhall can go fark themselves because if a site like Townhall told me the sky was still blue today, I'd go outside and check just to be sure.

Funny how when a website spends all its time lying people stop worrying about anything it says after awhile, huh?

In St Lucie is it not Votes Cast vs Voters it is Cards Cast. In that district the Ballot measures were on a second card. If everyone had voted for everything they could it would have been 200% in this particular election.

As previously stated http://www.slcelections.com/ has a note about this and the language on the reports confirms this

If you look at the votes vs registered/eligible for each section (Presidential/Senate etc) they are always under.

Can you at least agree that "information" from Townhall should, at the very minimum, be exhaustively verified before accepting it? I mean, this bit of derp is horrifically stupid. I mean, you realize why people just simply dismiss Townhall out of hand, right?
