Agreed, but if the modmins don't wake up soon, this is gonna be a TFer-only NASCAR race/bondage discussion thread (NTTAWWT).

Anytime between 2:45 ET and 3:25 ET (the 2 PM ET coverage start races tend to have green flags drop at around the 2:45 PM ET mark).

They had to appease the fWc bunch, they're not only bigger, but I understand they have other ways to get greenlights earlier

And I swear one of them hates NASCAR, and tries to delay NASCAR green-lights.

Green flag is 3:20 PM ET or so, so figure checkered flag at around 7 PM ET or so, depending on how badly the France family wants the 48 to win.

Don't suppose you have some means to wake up a mod enough to green this thread?

Jimmy wont win today. It would be bad for ratings for next week.

I expect a top 10 for the 48, with a bad pit stop near the end, but not a win.

On a non-race subject, WTF is it doing being 68 F in Michigan in *November*???

Okay, it's getting serious. Forget the idol, which has forsaken us. I say we all use our collective power to root for Keselowski and Bowyer the next two races.

My roommate has his kids on the weekends, and his ex doesn't like me so I occupy "elsewhere" on the weekends.

Elsewhere is usually a friend of mines "party/crash" pad. Last night *her* boyfriend went megadouche and started throwing furniture and wrecking the place because she had to work late and he wanted to go party.

He ended up OD'ing and in the hospital. I left when the throwing shiat started, because I don't need to be around that shiat anymore, and I didn't wanna deal with cops when the eventual meltdown happened.

Turns out I still have good instincts.

But, as it midnight by the time I was out of there, I just ended up in the local walmart parking lot. It was ok, I still had my ren faire stuff in the car, so I just wrapped up in my cloak and camped in my RX8.

/End story.

Greetings, all.

Some interesting reading before the race starts:

FTA:
Pemberton said a primary objective with the new car is to increase stability in traffic and reduce the advantage that a lead car has over a trailing car. Many drivers have complained passing is difficult because of the turbulence created when following behind another car, and NASCAR has tried many ways to reduce the importance of aerodynamics.

At least NASCAR is aware of the problem. The rest of the article is somewhat mixed on if they're actually willing to do what is needed to fix that problem.

And all of the changes that were made to come up with the 2012 car were in an effort to get rid of pack racing and freight-train drafting, which really only affected the races at Daytona and Talledega (and Texas, to a degree).

Yeah. Looks like the focus this time is on fixing the 1.5 milers, which is absolutely where it should be, if we're stuck with em for now.

The thing is, I get the feeling that NASCAR is mostly angling for an "at least they tried," consolation from the fans. They talk about reducing horsepower, but don't commit to it. They talked about reducing downforce, but added it all back and are now going in the opposite direction.

I'm hopeful for next season to have better side by side racing, but I'm not confident in NASCAR's ability to break its own groupthink which lands us in our current spot every few years.

Still, at least they're aware of what fans are saying, which is more than I'd have credited 'em with, and a lot better than the current "fark what the fans want" attitude over in Indycar. Heh.
