Look, can't we just agree that Obama is the epitome of anti-american and should be drawn and quartered in the public square so that people like him better understand their place?

Faddy: and how they got access to his email account.

I have it on good authority that the four most-used passwords are: love, sex, secret, and god.

I'm sure the FBI tried those and gained access.

Maybe if you could actually make a question out of it.

"why members of Congress with oversight over intelligence and homeland security weren't briefed on the discoveries."

I'm sure we could have trusted the likes of Michele Bachmann to handle this issue discreetly, sensitively and in a rational, non-partisan manner.

The other other woman was getting threatening emails from the other woman, so she went to the FBI. The other woman was also emailing Petraeus.

Civilian employee of defense contractor reported threatening emails from Broadwell. Investigating Broadwell's email brought to light the affair w/Petraeus and the intelligence community has rules.

And apparently Cantor knew some of this before the election.

Amen.

Hmm that seems kind of legit. Although the FBI thinking someone hijacked the head of the CIA's email account to have an affair with a crazy lady who is also his biographer needs a shave from Occum's Razor.

I'm pretty sure that when Obama was planning the Bengazi attacks last year that he'd need a patsy. So he hired these two sluts and set herp derp suuulurp.

Because the 2012 electorate REALLY cared about Benghazi and foreign affairs. Forget the economy as the issue! Benghazi proves Obama=Carter so Romney=Reagan!!! Benghazi! Benghazi! Keep farking that chicken!!!

Faddy: Occum's Razor.

I just crossed my legs.

OT: People need to stop treating this like a cover up. Petraeus resigned because the head of an organization has to set examples. The CIA can't have officers carrying on affairs because it opens the door to blackmail. Open and shut case, he had to go.

Also, I can't believe how desperately the Republicans keep spinning this Benghazi derp. It's almost as bad as Democrats spinning the drone strikes and anti-terror raids as some sort of significant foreign policy accomplishment.

It just doesn't add up," King, R-New York, said on CNN. "You have this type of investigation. The FBI investigating e-mails, the e-mails leading to the CIA director, and taking four months to find out that the CIA director was involved. I have real questions about this. I think a timeline has to be looked at and analyzed to see what happened."

Oh, now a Republican wants to talk about timelines? Little late, buddy.

The resignation also comes days before Petraeus was slated to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee about the September 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Stop trying to make Benghazi happen. It's not gonna happen.

Someone else already called it, but this will mutate into, "Obama manipulated events to win the election." They'll compare it to Reagan's alleged secret negotiations with Iran to keep the hostages until after he won.

The difference, of course is that Darrell Issa will be spending millions of dollars and years of time "investigating" it and trying to turn it into an impeachment. He did lose some steam in this election but still won handily.

he also voted for Net Neutrality, so he needs to DIAF.

I was at brunch this morning when I heard from the table behind me, "Obama hired some Syrians to kidnap the ambassador so Obama could swoop in and save the day and look good before the election, but those two Marines happened to be there and they didn't count on them fighting so hard, so the kidnappers had to kill the ambassador. It will be interesting to see the President brought up on war crimes."

I actually did the full turn in my chair and gave them the WTF look because... WTF?!!???

They can't use one angle, so they immediately latch onto another angle, and when that falls through they'll go for another angle.

For fark's sake, people, stop it. We know you're insane.

The complaint was about emails from Broadwell's GMail account. Broadwell's GMail account had emails from Petraeus's personal GMail account.

(Not mention that if Petraeus accessed his email from a government computer the password over HTTPS/SSL would have been intercepted by the man in the middle.)

Four Americans die at a consulate in an unstable country, almost every member of the group that perpetrated the attack is caught: OUTRAGE! CONSPIRACY! WHAAARRGARBL!

~3000 Americans die in attacks in America's largest city and America's capital city, the President invades an unrelated country and allows the group to get *stronger* while he works out his daddy issues: CRITICIZING THE PRESIDENT IN WARTIME IS TREASON!

On Saturday, questions arose about why congressional leaders were not informed of the investigation immediately.

...followed by a string of bipartisan derps and moans.

One question: Is there a Constitutional obligation to inform any person or party at some point in time that was not informed at the necessary point in time? If so, carry on with your outrage...

if not, STFU and GBTW

The idea that Petraeus resigning from the CIA somehow relieves him of a duty to answer a subpoena is merely proof that the conservative mindset is completely off the rails.

DiFi just said Petraeus can testify. For all we know, she expects his testimony to back the administration up, and the republicans are trying to PREVENT him from testifying, because it will weaken their conspiracy theory.

Given Cantor's involvement in this...hmmmm...tinfoil.

King is just concern trolling here and pretending that the CIA were gonna use Patreus' firing as some "get out of a supoena free" card.

Feinstein is miffed that the congressional oversight wasn't given a heads up earlier.

Given that it involved acts of sexual congress that were egregious oversights on Patreus' part I think she may well have a point.

Cantor and other teahadists will, no doubt, stoop to any level to try to make some kind of impeachment charge stick to Obama this term, facts be damned, that's rather an unfortunate given at this point but it won't be Benghazi.

I can't remember where I saw it, but in some day-after-election piece I saw a quote from a distraught Republican woman who said something like "I'm so disappointed that the American people re-elected a man responsible for the murder of four Americans in Libya."

For real.

I don't know about the CIA, but every military computer has a "you consent to monitoring" disclaimer on it when you log in. Even the unclassified networks. So if he ever checked his gmail on his office computer, that would be it.

I suppose if you were to scale down to our level it will be known as not having to show up in court because of the other hand defense.
