randomjsa: That's what has been funny about the snickering and snorting from the liberals.

I remember how they acted in 2004 after Bush won. They were a hundred times more "butthurt" by it and acted that way.

As I said, they acted like inane children in 2004 and they're acting the same way now in spite of a result that goes in their favor.

yea, CONservatives have always been so mature in these matters. Rush Loudmouth and Beckerhead are prime examples.

There's no point in making up silly names about right wing extremists. Their evils stand on their own two feet.

No, those feet are firmly planted in their own throats.

That's a hell of a pep talk.

I think it is an amplification of lunacy from both sides during each time, the problem for the right is that delusion in the GoP's middle name and they are at their worst when reality knocks a hole in the wall. Once they figure out how this is some plot they are blameless victims of this will all calm down. Sorta.

Meanwhile, the Republican guy I know who stole his ex-boyfriend's absentee ballot to cast a second vote for George W. Bush in 2000 is on facebook whining about how the Democrats only won because of voter fraud. Yes, the guy who committed voter fraud, in Florida, in the closest election in history, is accusing the Democrats of voter fraud without the slightest hint of irony.

YoungSwedishBlonde: Oh god, Tuesday sucked, but remember 8 years ago? You know, when the Democrats were even more pissed off because we started a war based on lies that got a bunch of people killed for no reason? So HA! Take that Democrats!

FARKING THIS.

Also: he of the anti-war left, African parentage, utterly socially liberal and with the middle name Hussein

Well no shiat, Sherlock. Here in America, we try not to judge people based on their race, or on a middle name popular multiple decades ago. Don't know what it's like out in Best Korea, though.

Honestly though, does anyone remember how pretty much all criticism of the previous administration was dismissed as "Bush Derangement Syndrome?"

Did any of those issues turn out to be exaggerated?

I've been watching C-SPAN this morning listening to right-wingers explain the election.

Turns out Romney wasn't conservative enough and Obama refused to compromise on abortion or something whine whine derp wharrrgle

Democrats failed to roll back the large Republican majority in the House and added only two seats to their Senate majority.

The Democrats gained seats in both houses, and they should have lost seats in both. In fact there was no reason for you not to take the Senate back with moderate Republicans, you slobbering mental patient.

"In 2004, Democrats lost not only in a bid to unseat an incumbent president much hated by the party's liberal base

Sorry, but I think you meant "much hated by the entire world."

lj1330: Libs were worse? Again with the false equivalencies! Does any libs remember trying to secede? How about changing the districts? How about trying to change the voter registration to make it harder for dems to vote? How about threatening to have a "revolution"? Good times, indeed

Sort of, but only as a joke.

Mostly I remember liberal reaction to 2004 being one of grim resignation. We expect to lose and don't cry when it happens.

Ambivalence: Yes because if there's anything that makes republicans happy, it's infuriating liberals and making them miserable.

That's like 80% of what they stand for: Pissing off liberals.

I remember when George Will (who doesn't like football because he truly believes that huddles are where players vote on how to proceed, or what he calls "play by committee") basically said this year "I don't know much about football, I just root for the team whose victory will make liberals the most upset."

And your recollection is correct. The 2012 Super Bowl was between New York and New England.
