Why is that man-child broadcasting from his mother's basement using my high school AV club?

2012-11-10 07:12:02 PM
Heartbroken Republicans would do well to consider how much worse it was for Democrats eight years ago.

THAT'S your selling point?

2012-11-10 07:24:56 PM
Yes because if there's anything that makes republicans happy, it's infuriating liberals and making them miserable.

That's like 80% of what they stand for: Pissing off liberals.

2012-11-10 07:57:07 PM
Oh yeah, I guess I remember that. Don't forget that Reagan won 49 states. That really pissed them off. And who the hell thought running McGovern was a good idea? But the kicker is that Democrats were so pissed Lincoln won, they seceded from the union.

80%? You're being generous. Especially seeing how giddy they were getting through Monday.

Seems like they've forgotten that everybody knew that Kerry was probably going to lose. Unlike the reality distortion field that the GOP existed in where they were legitimately shocked.

I found the internet poll thingy on the side really annoying and distracting. It confirmed my long held suspicions that American media controls the national dialogue by shaping the parameters of the debate in shockingly limited terms. In this case "Entitlement cuts *and* a tax raise?" versus "Just entitlement cuts?", which are apparently a given.

Granted it *is* RCP, just saying, it's annoying.

On topic? Democrats felt worse 8 years ago? Well, no shiat,

America rewarded the guy who sat on his hands prior to 9/11 who then lied a country to war with a second term. I'm still pissed at that level of fail and I'm not even American. You know, pissed over actual reality based reasons as opposed to the vast assemblage of manufactured faux-rages ginned up daily by the entrenched RW media and cited by butt-hurt Repugs everywhere.

Republicans don't need to search their souls here they just need to pull their collective head out of their collective ass.

The answer offered by party mandarins and the establishment press was that the time had come for Democrats to return to the moderation and centrism of the Clinton era

ORLY? So the Democrats adapted by going back towards the center despite what the extremists of their supporters wanted, but the answer for Republican's getting their butts kicked is to pander even more to their side's extremists?

Hmm, OK... Go for it idiots.

They should have mentioned Obama's ethnicity a few more times in that article. A couple of sentences left it out altogether.

I have no sympathy for the Republican Party when all nine of the nominees in their Primary really weren't qualified to be President. The smart Republicans (Jeb Bush, Chris Christie) just sat this one out.

Kind of funny. The Republicans did everything to make sure John Kerry didn't win the 2004 Election just to wind up with Obama four years later, who I think the Republicans hate much more than they ever did Kerry.

Sadly far too many GOP supporters. It's the tried and true mantra of the right, just keep yelling louder until the other side gets tired and goes away.

Oh god, Tuesday sucked, but remember 8 years ago? You know, when the Democrats were even more pissed off because we started a war based on lies that got a bunch of people killed for no reason? So HA! Take that Democrats!

I was a republican not anymore but still I was during the Kerry election cycle and here is my take. I actually like Romney less than Kerry and I never really had any strong negative feelings toward Kerry. He was just kind of boring. Of the 3 (and only given those choices) I like Obama the best. Which I'll be honest isn't really all that much.

/Also how does well they felt worse 8 years ago help the giant butthurt screams from the past few days?

That's what has been funny about the snickering and snorting from the liberals.

I remember how they acted in 2004 after Bush won. They were a hundred times more "butthurt" by it and acted that way.

As I said, they acted like inane children in 2004 and they're acting the same way now in spite of a result that goes in their favor.

2012-11-11 02:15:10 AM
I felt pretty bad in 2004 because the President was reelected after it became abundantly clear that his administration had mislead the country into a pointless war on false pretenses. A war that was leading to countless and pointless civilian and military casualties.

That had all been established, but the population felt like ignoring it and let that bastard stay in office for another 4 years.

So yeah, I was reasonably miffed. I wasn't upset that Kerry lost. I was upset that no one seemed to give a shiat about pointless war and death being embraced as nationalism.

So no, hopefully the right doesn't feel as bad as all that. Because if they do they are histrionic whiners and they need a good slap. If you want to cry about Obama winning, someone should give you something to really cry about.

The Far right conservatives weren't voting for Romney, they were simply voting against Obama I seriously doubt any type of outreach made by president Obama will be well received. The far right won't give a shiat if Obama offers Romney a place on his cabinet. What they cared about is Obama getting a second term, they are so insane with hatred they would rather work towards destroying the country to self prophetize the 1000 years of darkness of the Obama re-election. instead of trying to work with liberals to improve the country.

Didn't help in 2004 that, after a very long day as an election official, with the outside doors nearly always open, and cold rain outside, that I had a sore throat for the next week or so afterwards.

Also, I was signing petitions to impeach Bush nearly a year before then.

The fact that the Dems didn't take the house house shows America wants more gridlock. the senate is a wash with the filibuster and the House is firmly in the (R) category. It's a push.

From Charles Krauthammer, in TFA: "I think one thing he might do if it's not Simpson-Bowles would be to offer the Treasury to Romney. I'm sure he would probably turn it down but it would be the ultimate gesture. I don't think it will happen. I agree John Kerry will probably end up at secretary of State. But I must say that my sources in the Obama White House have been rather quiet since January 2009."

Heh. Hahaha. HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA. Aside from Simpson-Bowles, the whole thing was such a farking hilarious self-parody, I just couldn't have done better myself.

No, no. Liberals were upset for no reason whatsoever. W's legacy proves the Neocons were right. In spite of the liberal's childish lamentations, the Republicans are proud of Bush and Cheney's accomplishments. That's why Bush and Cheney were featured so heavily in the McCain and Romney campaigns. All those speeches, rallies, tv commercials... man, it was non stop! The Republicans wanted to be certain everybody thought of Bush and Cheney whenever they saw McCain and Romney.

That's one thing I overlooked in all of the celebrating: part of the reason the Republicans want to bash down Obama is to save Dubya's record. If Obama is just as bad as Dubya, that means that (according to whatever Republicans think logic is) that Dubya isn't the nation's worst president. Of course, they tried to do this by linking various Obama problems with Dubya catastrophes ("This is Obama's Katrina," etc.) so they could start their little shiatty revisionist history nonsense.

Now look at it: Obama is doing a great job considering the obstructionism of the Republicans in Congress. He got some form of healthcare reform passed. He managed to catch the man Dubya never could, and excelled in the face of adversity. The main complaint about Obama is that he wants to bring the country that Dubya separated back together. The worst complaints about Dubya stem from two big holes in Manhattan, quadrupled gas prices, New Orleans being in horrible disrepair, and...well, we would need a list, wouldn't we?

The part that pisses off the Republicans the most is that it tosses their beliefs about race out the window. Dubya grew up with privilege, had everything going in his favor....and is possibly the stupidest person alive. Obama grew up and worked for everything he had, and today is possibly one of the best presidents that this nation has ever seen. Obama is the living embodiment of the ideal that Republicans claim to be for but never support. Obama is the one rebuilding the nation to its glory. You see a Republican mentioning that? They're too busy trying to find more word games to cover for their bigotry. And they still pretend that Dubya--the pinnacle of what their sheltered and twisted worldview--doesn't exist.
