Dafatone: Like that (illegal) commercial that had a subliminal "RATS" thrown onto the screen for a blink after "Democrats"? That's pretty sad.

Haven't seen that one. Can you link me to it?

aselene: bugontherug: Dafatone: Jim_Callahan: antidisestablishmentarianism: When someone uses Democrat when they should be using Democratic, you can dismiss anything else they have to say.

Why? It's a bit silly grammatically, but the part of speech on Democratic isn't quite right for a title either, more a remnant of the party being called Democratic Republican back in the 1800s. It's also rather absurdly general, as both parties are democratic (and republican, for that matter, were you to use the adjective use of that word instead of the noun).

Not that "the Grand Old Party" is any less silly, but at least it's an actual name instead of a generic adjective regarding the system of government for the entire first world.

No idea why. None at all. But the rule applies. Any time someone says "Democrat Party" they're raging right-wing assholes. Again. No clue why. You're right, it shouldn't mean anything. But it always does.

Not kidding you.

The reason is because when they call it the "Democrat Party" they can emphasize the "rat." To imply that Democrats are rats.

Yes, I AM serious.

As in DemocRat Party?

Exactly.

Another fun point, though I was too lazy to verify rumor has it that a bunch of Florida Ballots were printed on paper too big for the scantron machines. So the ballots are being copied, BY HAND, onto scantron-friendly ballots to be re-scanned.

Aside from showing once again that Florida is too incompetent to handle its own elections, this is just begging for screams of vote tampering.

randomjsa: Ah yes, the left celebrates the destruction of another minority, but remember kids... It's the right who are the racists.

If the right weren't racist they would have a lot more people of color in their tent.

/See also: If they were less sexist they would have more women.

They would also find less crazy people of color to run for them than convicted war criminal Allan West.

When you looked at the crowds at Romney events with the sea of predominantly white faces and then at the Obama events in which the crowds more closely resembled what America actually looks like in 2012 how you could not see that the GOP have a very real problem in terms of appealing to anyone but the old, the white and the fundified?

Fact of the matter is that all the derp that the right have spun since Obama's election in 2008 about "White liberal guilt" being a factor in his winning has been pure deflection. The reality is that there is a very real sense among some people in the mostly white GOP that the privilege that being white in American society once bestowed on an individual was going the way of the dodo in the wake of changing demographics and attitudes.

This is, I think, a large part of what has made them go so remarkably bat-shiat the last few years.

O'Reilly bemoaning the death of white privilege in the wake of the 2012 election results the other night on FOX told this tale again.

But you go on with your "Who's the real racists here?" derp in spite of all the facts.

Your inability to process reality is occasionally amusing.

/Yes, I'm very easily amused.

I attribute it to vocal laziness I suppose, though I must admit I have been a bit curious as of late as to why one political party named itself to promote democracy, whereas the other named itself to promote a republic (correct?). Just seems a bit odd to me. Thank you for the history lesson, but I want to point out that by using this incredibly slight terminology faux pas to pigeon hole me into a group of the "others" to make it easier for you to deride me is intellectually lazy. If you wish to heap scorn on someone (whether it was directed at me personally or just a generalization) you should probably find something with a bit more meat to it, especially when your derision is based on a supposition of their political views (in which case, you're way off base with me. Again, if it was directed at me personally, kind of hard for me to tell.)

Download from the Republican hive-mind. Makes sense, they opened with O'Reilly's racist rant on election night, now they're walking it back by accusing the opposition of being the REAL racists. Then they'll get back to pretending racism doesn't exist.

From Another Article: Though above the threshold for a full recount, St. Lucie County agreed late Saturday to recount early votes on Sunday. Barring a sizeable shift, the complete but unofficial numbers showed Murphy with 50.4 percent of the vote and held a 2,442-vote lead in the District 18 race. Still, West's campaign said they would press forward.

I don't see a problem with having a recount. He may not be entitled to an automatic recount under the law, but if his campaign wants to pay for one, I don't see the problem. There have obviously been a number of issues in Florida voting this election, and its important to be sure. The odd thing is that contentions seem to have to to based on today's unofficial tally even when more overseas/expat ballots are coming in. It would make more sense for any challenges to have be based on a deadline total, and then be recounted before certification. There is still a lame duck session to do--and plenty of time for the votes to be certified. Its worth it to make sure there are as few reasons as possible for Rep. West's campaign to claim unfair treatment.

And if I were you I'd be more concerned about the grammar lesson. It's one of those dog whistle things that only pisses off liberals, and other people can't understand why it's insulting, fine. But to anyone educated enough to understand the grammar of proper names, you look... uneducated... when you use it.

My faith does not allow me to indulge in violence, but I have some Baptist relatives that could make short work of Victoria Jackson.

So Allen West is against government until he needs it? Color me shocked.

Whiskey Pete: I am totally stealing "BLARGH FART BLORK" and claiming it is my own.

Too late it's already the name of my Sugarcube's cover/tribute band.

/Okay maybe it's not but it should be.

Somacandra: From Another Article: Though above the threshold for a full recount, St.

Okay, so now I have a guess where you teach, Somacandra. Or should I say Mr. Billiken?

Britney Spear's Speculum: heap: this is like one of those old 'Highlights' magazine kids puzzles, except you must circle the blatant falsehoods instead of circling the things a puppy would like.

What is it about Palm Beach County that makes people so stupid and irrational?
