It's a Red State, so they will be PISSED if any Federal dollars are wasted on helping any Kentuckians recover from the earthquake.

Nonononono. First the governor will do a sloppy job of handling the fall out, blame the federal government for not responding to requests for aid that were never made, then go back to saying how evil the federal government is once the checks cleared.

Damn, I just realized the governor of the state of Kentucky is a Democrat. So switch that from the governor complaining about the federal government to municipal governments complaining about the state government.

Could not have been that still if it shook the Earth.

Major differences in geology. East of the Rockies is pretty solid bedrock, transmits earthquake motion very well. West coast geology is very fractured.

I grew up in northeastern Kentucky ... This shiat is all over my Facebook feed right now. You'd have thought 8 million people were killed.

Calm the fark down, everybody at home. You'll live.

2012-11-10 01:22:38 PM
I live about 30 miles from the epicenter. I've been in a few small earthquakes before but never anything like that. I didn't know what was happening at first, thought the washing machine was out of balance or something then it felt like a truck hit the house and a few seconds later everything started shaking hard. It lasted at least half a minute.

2012-11-10 01:23:28 PM
Nary a peep outta these guys

It should get honorable mention, at least. That's more shakin' than they've experienced in quite a while

There were two explosions near Montreal this week so I actually believed the first part of the headline. Then when I tried to picture what it would take to make a 4.3 earthquake I was a bit skeptical...

I'm well aware of that. But the farking floor shook from a 4.3 more than a 100 miles away.

There is a 230,000 bbl/day refinery in the area, so not totally out of the question.
