medical devices tax

We'll just mark it up an extra 2.3%, dumbass.

FSAs are popular with parents of special-needs children because the money can be used on tuition for private schools that accommodate the disabled.

So fund special-needs care in public schools.

More children in apartment complexes

This is a problem?

More pregnant prison guards

WTF? Also, this is a case that was settled.

a new Justice Department regulation that requires shops and restaurants to admit miniature horses

Frankly, that's adorable.

Easier miniature golf games... Another non-problem solved.

And another non-problem brought to our attention by those patriots at American Spectator.

Yet Rush tells us that Obama is Santa. So Obama has declared war on himself, or Obama is conducting a coup on Christmas X-mas?

Either way, this pis sums it all up nicely:

You need to go back to school to learn Republican math. If you hadn't noticed, Romney was using it all throughout the campaign.

Lets say you sell a device for $100, and it costs you $80. You're making a $20 profit. If they add a 10% tax on the item, it's $10/item additional that you need to pay, which is equivalent to 50% of your profit.

Over-sampled Stethoscopes

2012-11-09 11:12:58 AM
Full Lis (with context, since they're otherwise uninterpretable)t:

-More expensive cars (Higher MPG requirements)
-Fewer stethoscopes (2.3% Medical device tax)
-Less access to special needs education ($2500 on HSAs are too low for them to be used for Special Ed tuition)
-So long, free checking accounts (Limits on Debit card transaction fees will result in limits on free checking accounts)
-More children in apartment complexes (Sued 21+ apartment complex for discrimination)
-More pregnant prison guards (Pregnant women were forced to do desk work until a DOJ lawsuit changed the practice)
-More horses at restaurants (Miniature horses included as service animals)
-Easier miniature golf games (Accommodate disabled by limiting steepness of course obstacles)
-Drier urinals (Administration recommendation for higher plumbing efficiency standards)
-No more Roll Your Own tobacco (Rolled tobacco taxed the same as cigarettes)

Best part, they are recommendations and unenforced.

I'd also like to point out that my checking account is free, debit transactions are free, I actually get refunded for ATM fees, and my bank exists.

*shakes fist* Obama!

So long, free checking accounts

I just opened a free checking account 2 weeks ago. One that pays interest, even. Dodd-Frank had already been effect for over 2 years.

But the tax doesn't come out of the $100. The price goes up to $110.

The same published guidelines that added horses and mini golf regulations added regulations to shooting ranges to allow for appropriate turning space for people in wheelchairs. Why aren't these farknuts outraged about that?

Aside from the third item (which I have no certainly is remotely accurate) none of these potentialities bother me in the slightest.

thurstonxhowell: I just opened a free checking account 2 weeks ago. One that pays interest, even. Dodd-Frank had already been effect for over 2 years.

What they're actually whining about are accounts that are free for people with enough money to avoid the steep penalties associated with them. I had a free checking account for years before I switched to a CU but if you didn't keep a minimum balance you paid $7 a month. There were also steep penalties for overdrawn accounts (which could be reduced by $5 if you allowed them to instead either use your credit card account or savings account for absorbing overdraws) and a number of other things. Basically, I got a free checking account because people with less money than me got socked with ugly fees on their "free" checking accounts. That's mostly what went away.

As usual, right-wingers are only telling half the story because apparently you have to be a pathological liar anymore to be a conservative in this country.

I suspect that the HSA limit is legit, but I don't know how many families use it for tuition.

Regardless, it's a solvable problem. If only there were some way where we as a society could fund special education...

Can somebody please explain how a 2.3% tax on the sale of every medical device would be equivalent to a 15% tax on profits? I'm assuming he's referring to Gross Profits on an income statement?
