Hebalo: Lego_Addict: Hebalo: Lego_Addict: It's a bond movie, why are you complaining about non-existent infra-red goggles? You must have been really mad at Moonraker.

Hey, thanks for reposting his spoiler, without the 'whiteout'. WTF!!!

It says *SPOLIER ALERT*. Do you windows narrator on?

It's still a dick move.

Enough to be a Bond villain?

..ok, so I apologize!

Plus, they used Joe Don Baker again in a different role. You can't use an actor twice in a series for different parts; that shiat's just wrong.

Ah, didn't know that. Still doesn't make it right.

Wellon Dowd

Baker should be in NOTHING.

Ah, there's like 60 actors who have played two or more different roles in Bond movies. I'd say it's a well ingrained into the franchise.

Saw it a week ago, now that I've had time to digest, here are some of my non-spoilery thoughts:

1. Beautifully filmed - cinematography is gorgeous. Zero shakey-cam, thank FSM.

2. Lots of shoutouts to classic Bond themes, including the age old notion that women can't drive or fend for themselves. Some of them also sport freakishly long painted nails.

3. Plot is fine, but I miss the super-über villains. Needs something more, like sharks with fricking lasers.

Saw this and Lincoln in some sneak peek deal earlier this week. Skyfall was an excellent movie and will be well received by bond fans and casual moviegoers alike.

Lincoln was cool if you enjoy history and dialogue. The ow my balls crowd will fall asleep within the first ten minutes (lots of yuenglings walked out of the movie and never came back).

You got lucky. I had a crew of preteens who didn't understand Looper so just decided to talk to each other through the whole movie.

I_C_Weener: grinding_journalist: Well, Moore was the best Bond, so I'm willing to hear him out.

/also going tonight

Don't even joke about that.  Connery was the best Bond.  Craig is the best Jasoun Bourne (extra u's to make him British).  Then Remington Steele.  Then the Saint.  No, there were no other actors in the Bond series.

I'm only half joking, as two of my favorite Bond movies are Octopussy and Moonraker- but it's the very loud discussion that my friends and I were planning on having in line tonight, and respond with contempt to anyone who says "You're crazy, it's Connery"

Orgasmatron138: Dogfacedgod: Craig>Connery>Moore>Brosnan>Dalton>Lazenby

FACT

Connery was good and it's more 1a 1b in terms of ranking between him and craig, but DC seems like he can beat the ever living shiat out of SC and have his Bond girl hold his jacket while doing it.

I tend towards:

Connery>Craig>Dalton>Lazenby>Brosnan>Moore

Brosnan might be higher, but the movies he was in SUCKED. His character was too cutesy and self-aware of all the Bond cliches while the movie went ahead and did all the Bond cliches. Walter Gotell played the lead instructor on SPECTRE Island in From Russia With Love. He then played KGB General Gogol in the Roger Moore series of movies

I love Bond threads on Fark, and I guess I'll put my Best Bond list out there:

Connery (cause he MADE Bond)
Craig (quickly gaining speed to jump SC)
Dalton (bad scripts, but played the book character great)
Brosnan (same as above, and I probably give Dalton more credit cause his scripts seemed worse)
Lazenby
Austin Powes.....

....Moore

/flame on!

You also didn't know Maud Adams was in The Man With the Golden Gun and Octopussy?

Tsai Chin was in You Only Live Twice and Casino Royale (2006)?

23 movies in the producers know actors they like and will invite them back if they think the role is suited for them.

I've always liked Moore but I grew up after the Connery movies.
Seems like a dumb thing to argue about.
The old and new bond movies are great. That short period with Brosnan was awful.

I put Lazenby second because he had the hardest job of them all: following the actor who defined the genre. And it was a decent movie... with Diana Rigg in her prime... (btw, what a missed opportunity not to have the REAL James Bond (Sean im-not so-ho) hook up with Emma Peel on screen...)

Dalton and Brosnan... meh, still better than Moore.

Daniel Craig... all I remember of the first one was him running... a lot. The second one... less running. Oh, and him never changing his expression. Ever.

I'll see the new one though 'cause there's always the gadgets and the Bond babes...

Connery >>>>>>>>>Craig>>>>Moore>Dalton>Lazenby>>>>>>>>Brosnan

Craig, Moore, and Dalton all have their strengths and weaknesses. Craig has the badass part down pat but is a bit too serious, at least in that abomination that is Quantum of Solace. Can't really blame him for that movie, though. Connery couldn't have saved it. It sounds like Skyfall's more like the earlier movies, so Craig may move up a bit after it.

Moore was a fop, but he was a likeable fop. He made some stinkers, but even the bad ones were kind of fun.

I used to like Dalton's portrayal more, but looking at it now I can't ignore that he has absolutely no charisma. I don't care if he's "more like the guy in the books". You can play Bond as a badass, or a cartoon character, whatever. I can accept different interpretations. But make him charismatic. Make him someone that guys want to be. Dalton wasn't that, though his two movies are still near the top for me.

Lazenby... when I first saw OHMSS I thought he was a joke. I rewatched it a few weeks ago, and maybe it was because I was sick at the time but he didn't really seem too bad this time around. I think he could have grown into the role. The movie's one of the best, if not the best.

Brosnan. I cannot determine if everyone else has terrible taste or I just have an irrational dislike of him, but I farking HATE him as Bond. Not funny, not badass, not someone I want to be. I just want to see him get his ass kicked.

Orgasmatron138: I_C_Weener: Mugato: Craig's Bond is just a murderous bastard without any of the fun.

It looks to me that they put some fun back into him.  If so, he could be the best Bond ever.

I thought there was fun and wit in Casino Royale.

I love the scene where Craig and Green are sizing each other up on the train. After she thoroughly dissects him, She asks "How's your lamb?"

His response: "Skewered. One sympathizes."

I love that kind of stuff. More subtle than Moore's endless mugging and smirking.

Oh, and also "Now the whole world's going to know you died scratching my balls." is one of the greatest lines ever.

Easily EASILY 2 of the best one-liners ever uttered by Bond.

Craig has a couple good ones in this one, too.

God, this movie has been out in Russia for 3 weeks now, but I've been holding out for the non-dubbed version to hit the original language theaters. I understand enough Russian that I could watch it, but I'm going to watch some farking James Bond in English.

Saw Skyfall this afternoon. It's almost as good as Goldeneye, which IMO is the best Bond film of them all. There's lots of chases, lots of explosions, lots of dead people, and yes, Craig's Bond is more than just a robotic killing machine.

Wyalt Derp: * SPOILER ALERT *

Massive Bond fail throughout the film. Initially fails to get the bad guy, leading to dead agents, gets the bad guy in the end but fails to protect M. As a bonus the film features Hollywood hacking and the non-existence of infra-red goggles. Moneypenny and Q of course have to be young and sexy, because that's totally realistic. Throw in as many retro nods as possible for fan wankery.

Now get off my lawn.

Yes, up until now the series has been completely realistic, with no gadgets that don't exist in the real world, but since Moneypenny and Q are young and sexy (and the 12-pound dude with glasses is sexy in what universe, exactly?), it's total BS.

That slayed me. As a gay dude, I groaned when evil villain Bardem started getting all gay and gropey on our hero. That's a trope from 80's movies. Let's all be grossed out by the gay villain! But then Craig's one line made it all better.
