FTA: But when the punch comes from ignored reality, you're not just the sucker. You're the one who suckered yourself.

I liked the article because it highlighted the false assumptions on both sides, as well as the false claims made during the campaigns. Excellent sentence to close the article, IMHO.

Romney didn't lose because he lied through his teeth every single day of his campaign, he lost because he started to believe his own lies.

"There's nothing worse than when you think you're going to win, and you don't," a Romney adviser tells Crawford. "It was like a sucker punch." But when the punch comes from ignored reality, you're not just the sucker. You're the one who suckered yourself.

The other reality only exists in the right-wing media and in the heads of their customers.

The bubble hasn't popped. It's more like a rapidly deflating balloon, flying A all over the place, losing air and relevance.

based on the rhetoric it seems like they are blaming the liebral-leftist-lamestream-driveby-media-conspiracy, the hurricane, and chris christie for walking near Obama. Have not seen any introspection yet.

They are angrier at 'liberal' sources that told the truth instead of their own sources that essentially lied to them everyday.

From what I've seen on my facebook feed, they aren't stopping at doubling down. They've pretty much jumped all the way to plaid

To them, it didn't lie. The liberals simply made it look that way. So, in essence, liberals used hypnotism.

They're relying on fox to explain why everyone on fox has been wrong for months on end. So far they've come up with "because the blacks", which will always do in a pinch for these people.

So the Obama camp was working in the real world with real data while the Romney camp was enjoying the smell of their own farts? Sounds about right

2012-11-09 02:29:00 PM
This is why I left the republican party in 2003, the wilful ignorance at the core of the party and LACK of cognitive dissonance despite all the grounds for it. Romney just personified all the negative qualities the Republicans exemplify and espouse. His blistering storm of lies will go down in history just as Bush's Rovian manipulation of the national and global community will...

Actually, the "truth" is that we're still this politically right-leaning nation and society, and Obama is the sanest alternative we have now to move us forward.

But I can't handle The Truth!

fta Obama's campaign, according to Michael Scherer of Time, was running 66,000 electoral simulations every night on a massive database of polls and voter contact information. That's how the campaign knew its precise standing in each swing state and allocated resources so that it swept all but North Carolina. Romney, on the other hand, was "shellshocked" by the returns,

You know what, Republicans? You have some good ideas. Your party can serve a cause larger than yourselves. But it's time for you to join us in the reality-based community. Believe it or not, you're still welcomed here.

2012-11-09 02:41:09 PM
I'm frankly amazed that the Romney campaign apparently didn't recognize their long odds going into the election. I understand average Romney supporters and even ground-level campaign workers being fleeced by their own unrealistic perspectives. But I truly thought that his top-level people would have recognized what was going on and prepared themselves and their candidate for the possibility of losing.

The truth? A winner in this election? So that means after running one of the most dishonest and dishonorable campaigns in history the Obama administration is going to straight right up and start telling the truth? That's what the headline means... right?

Because if you're suggesting that "the truth" is what won this election then check yourself in to a mental institution post haste before you hurt somebody or yourself.

Quoted for... TRUTH. Seriously, Mitt was balls-out lying and contradicting himself for months on end and until election night, everybody thought he had a chance to win.

Duuuude... C'mon, man. We've all had fun being a partisan hack now and then, but the election is over and it time to assess and conclude and make fact-based plans to move forward.

Any GOP candidate would have got near that many votes, they are more anti-Obama then they are pro-Romney.

Your Zionist Leader: No, they're saying that the more honest candidate won. I think it's actually math that won

Math was the only real truth that I saw and in the interest of "fairness" a lot of bad math was included that should have been just ignored completely. All the "fact-checking" articles I read were extremely careful to make sure they could find some sort of half-truth or exaggeration from Obama's camp to balance every outright lie from Team Romney. Even the debate coverage from the "liberal" media gave Romney points for "performance" and attitude while pointedly avoiding mentioning his complete reversal on basically every stance he had previously taken.

Truth was not a winner in this election. It was a bystander.

I hope Rapeblicans continue to think they won the independents and a bunch of their reliable party members just didn't vote. Instead of the truth that a huge amount of former Rapeblicans now call themselves independents.
