Oh, you mean two-time Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg, subby? That guy?

2012-11-09 09:38:56 AM
Wake me when they make a proper Transformers movie, without humans.

2012-11-09 09:42:52 AM
I don't hate Marky-Mark.
I do hate Shia LeBeouf.
I don't hate the Transformers.
I do hate Michael Bay.

I don't know what to think about this...

2012-11-09 09:42:58 AM
I'll take Wahlberg over The Beef any day.

Say hello to your mother for me.

2012-11-09 09:43:23 AM
Sorry subby, but Mark Wahlberg is an exponentially better actor than LeBoof.

2012-11-09 09:43:24 AM
But he sang Stan Bush's "The Touch" in Boogie Nights...

2012-11-09 09:44:07 AM
I'm completely OK with this.

2012-11-09 09:45:46 AM
I don't see what the problem here is, Mark Wahlberg is a star. A star, a star, a big bright shining star.

2012-11-09 09:46:33 AM
I have only seen part of a bad of Marky Mark movie - The Happening. His acting was so bad it was tough to watch and I never finished it. Plus you, know plot.

But what I have seen, I have enjoyed:

Boogie Nights
The Fighter
The Italian Job
The Departed
The Other Guys
Shooter
Four Brothers

So he can't be too bad in Transformers, a franchise known for scene chewing lead actors.

2012-11-09 09:51:45 AM
Can we please stop calling him "Mark Wahlberg"??? He is, and will always be, "Marky-Mark" (with or without the Funky Bunch).

2012-11-09 09:57:33 AM
RUN SUBBY, RUUUUUUUUUUN!

What happened to the rumor of a Transformers movie with Jason Statham?

That could have been pretty cool...

I know people here love to hate on the Transformers movies, but I think the third one was the best of the three (even if it was a little long).

You can't expect these movies to be anything than they already are, but I feel like there's room for optimism on the next one.

2012-11-09 10:27:42 AM
No. Not at all. Nope. Tell me when they finally decide to make a Voltron movie.

2012-11-09 10:30:44 AM
Why does Subby strike me as a whin,y basement dwelling nerd?

All I have to say is... It had Leonard Nimoy in it and he quoted a Star Trek line... Good enough for me!

FTFY

We should totally judge everyone based on how they behaved in their late teens. I'm sure you were a perfectly wonderful person and never did anything bad, with or without drugs, at that age, right?

Only saw the first one and parts of the second movie, did like the part where Petercullenbot roared out "GIVE ME YOUR FACE!"

Once a criminal, always a criminal, eh?

Note that I am in no way condoning Marky Mark's actions. I am however, disappointed that so many people just love to judge others based on how they behaved decades ago, while completely ignoring everything they may had done in the interim. Hell, I was arrested for shoplifting when I was 17 (ordered to attend a 'scared straight' program, no fines, no jail/juvie time). I've never stolen anything since then, and I'm 38 now...am I still a thief because of what I did 21 years ago?

Really? I thought the third was by far the worst of the three. With the exception of the scenes with John Turturro and Alan Tudyk, I was pretty much bored for most of the movie...and I'm definitely a fan of action films, so this isn't some holier-than-thou poo-pooing of the summer action blockbuster genre. Admittedly, I dislike Shia LaBeouf, and I think Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looks like a blow-up doll, so that may have had some impact on my feelings about the film. Still, I'm of the mind that the Transformers movies have gotten worse each time out.

I can never help but think of Lebouf as the wacky kid in Even Stevens.

As for another Transformers, ya, no more humans please.

I just thought the story-line of the third one was actually decent. The moon landing aspect of it was a good touch, and even the dude who sided with the Decepticons because that's where they money/power will be.....I dunno, just seemed like an overall better story than the first two.

None of them had great acting by any means, and a lot of wasted time on useless scenes, but I can't hold that against them when they're clearly meant for kids. To each their own though....

This attitude always boggles my mind. It's like a law for unimaginative people. "No entertainment property can ever transcend it's roots."

Good thing Nolan didn't have this attitude with Batman.

The theme of Transformers is, "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." If you can't start from there and make a great movie, you weren't even trying.

Rumour has it that there will be a huge fight scene between Megatron and Mark's giant fake penis from Boogie Nights

2012-11-09 12:11:58 PM
I will only watch this if he is cast as a scientist charged with figuring out stuff about the transformers.

So is wahlberg going to be witiwicky, or a whole new character?

Can they get a love interest for him that transforms into an actress?

My reaction was 'why the hell would Mark Wahlberg do a Transformers movie?' He's apparently into collecting big paychecks now rather than doing good movies.

The fact that subby referred to him as "Marky Mark" means that subby is probably a 45+ year old heavyset woman

Michael Caine did "Jaws: Revenge"
Al Pacino did "Jack & Jill" AND "Gigli"
Ben Kingsly did "The Love Guru"
Tommy Lee Jones did "Man of the House"
John Malkovich did "Jonah Hex"

I think your argument is invalid

Indeed. That definitely belongs on the List of Mark Wahlberg Movies That Do Not Suck®.

You owe me a keyboard... and a soda.

Aside from not really having any interest in the movie (though putting in Mark Walberg may change that), I can honestly say I will not miss Lebouf. It worked for the first film, since he was supposed to be a whiny teenager, but after that it's just more of the same (still haven't seen all of the second movie and not a second of the third one).

Batman is a little different than Transformers. You're going to have a hard time making an adult-themed movie about fighting robots. And, more importantly, you're going to have a hard time making it nearly as successful as the ones that we already have.

The main character in these movies is one that requires full CGI. Name another movie that has that, but is on the level of Nolan's Batman?
