Wellon Dowd: 2. Movie about fraternities: Animal House | PCU (I hesitate to include these two together simply because the criminally overhyped John Belushi shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as comic genius Jeremy Piven.)

I should have stopped reading there.

4. John Wayne movie: The Searchers | Big Jake (Don't get me wrong: The Searchers is a great movie. But it doesn't have quite the depth that the critics and fans claim. Both of these films are about the search for a kidnapped family member but Big Jake has two things missing from The Searchers: love and genuine humor.)

Big Jake also has a delightful casual racism. His Native American friend is killed in the big shoot-out and nobody mentions it as they walk away smiling.

Apathy isn't racism no matter how much it hurts you that a white person isn't empathetic to the suffering of a brown person.

/haven't seen Big Jake.
//The Searchers is great.

Bongo Blue: The worse is Stalag-17. You can't help but compare it to Hogan's Heroes. Yech!

I never compare the two, as usual TV took a riveting film about a subject and turned into a complete pile of shiat, I used to wonder why hogans heroes was so popular and then I realized it was because my uncle had shown me stalag 17 years ago before I had seen hogans heroes in reruns.

38. Sci-Fi Sequel: Star Wars: Episode IV (The original Star Wars) | X2: X-Men United

[i.imgur.com image 580x350]

Not sure it's overrated but definitely overexposed.

I can agree with that but that's not really my problem with the article's assertion. Star Wars isn't a sequel, X2 isn't sci-fi. Like almost everything on this list he's comparing apples to oranges.

/ that's aside from the fact that X2 is mediocre at best and is in no way underrated

X2 is way more sci-fi than Star Wars. At least the X-factor gene has a pseudoscientific explanation, as opposed to the straight mysticism of The Force.

I don't watch a whole bunch of movies but I have seen a close majority on that list and holy cow I disagreed with the author on every single one of the itemw when I have seen both movies on the list. .

The All-Powerful Atheismo: Porous Horace: [unfilmde.files.wordpress.com image 480x335]

"Overrated, eh? Let me tell you what I think of your pathetic little blog." *starts swearing in German*

Finally watched that movie for the first time. It wasn't nearly as good as Fitzcarraldo.

Great! I have yet to see Fitzcarraldo. I like the Herzog/Kinski combo.

41. Movie about amoral businessmen: Wall Street | Boiler Room

No, I'm sorry. The answer was Swimming with Sharks.

If it hadn't lost credibility half a dozen times before this entry (Caddyshack isn't still funny? X2? Seriously, dude?) this would be the one that breaks it. It's just so... obvious.

Why did fark send me to some whackjob christian website?

Especially one with no taste in movies.

Josie And The Pussycats failed because it made fun of most of America. It's a brilliant satire with tons of eye candy. The whole intro with DuJour proves Seth Greens comedy chops and the movie only gets funnier as it goes.

And, well, shiat, who am I kidding: Rachel Leigh Cook, Rosario Dawson and Tara Reid in her prime? Instant classic!

minoridiot: FTFA:

Jeremy Piven is not even remotely entertaining.

That's when I knew the writer of the article was full (and I mean FULL) of shiat.

37. Movie about politics: All the President's Men| Election

This guy is high. "Election" is cute, but "All the President's Men" is amazing.

inner ted: Okoboji: Gunny Highway: This is the most overrated AND underrated "Kung Fu Real Life Cartoon Redemption Coming Of Age Gangster Love Movie"

[www.8daysageek.com image 321x480]

It is that bad/good

The choreographed Axe Gang scenes made me laugh hysterically.

Reading just a few of those, the writer really doesn't have a clue what they're talking about.

one of the coolest scenes i've seen - action movie or otherwise

Stephen Chow seems to have a knack for choreographing over the top martial arts scenes. He realizes most of the stuff he's doing is silly and instead of trying to pass it off as not silly he revels in it. It's one of the reasons I think Shaolin Soccer is a better experience than Kung Fu Hustle because he seemed to try to take himself a little more seriously halfway through.

That and the dance number is awesome.

John Wayne was a shiatty actor and a draft dodger. He should have his own "overrated" category on this list.

/lets out a bit of line

KatjaMouse:

Also, I have to agree that Strictly Ballroom is criminally underrated. Just an over the top stylized underdog movie applied to the cut throat world of ballroom dance and doesn't take itself nearly as seriously as you think that description would.

I agree with you here. I loved Strictly Ballroom. I disagree with TFA that Priscilla is overrated. It is still one of the most enjoyable movies ever.

wiwille: Animal House is overrated. Granted I first saw it a few months ago and didn't laugh once. It may have been hilarious at the time, but it didn't age well.

Run Lola Run is underrated?

You mean to say that you've laughed at all the jokes ripped straight from Animal House for years but were puzzled when you saw where they all came from?

KatjaMouse: 33. Musical: A Chorus Line | Moulin Rouge

Ok, stop right there. I like Moulin Rouge in bits and pieces. However, simply calling it a flawed movie would be an understatement.

I'm with you. A) Moulin Rouge won an Oscar for best picture so how can it be under rated and B) How the FARK did Moulin Rouge win an Oscar for best picture?

I'll also agree with the rest of your posts in this thread

/Fark Moulin Rouge I hated that movie

No, that's not what I meant to say at all.
