It was like watching an apocalyptic preacher declare that maybe his calculations were off by a few minutes, and that the world would end aaaaaaaaany minute now.

And his own clergy going outside to interview reality. "Hey, Earth, are you still in one piece? Hey Karl, it looks like Earth is still in one piece. Comment?"

Like most high-level operatives, he's just a mercenary. He was paid to win elections for Republicans, so that's what he did. I don't think he ever gave much thought to platforms beyond what level of support they had among various demographic groups.

Actually, you were right the first time - it's pronounced "I am a sissyfairy mincing friend of Dorothy's". It's spelled "goalie for the Habs/Avs" when you write it in English (including the slash), but it's pronounced "I am a sissyfairy mincing friend of Dorothy's" when you read it aloud.

I think we should applaud these guys. Oh sure, you might say that spending hundreds of millions of dollars to try to avoid a potential increase of a couple million dollars in taxes might be a stupid decision. But look at all the graphics artists they helped keep employed, cranking out hilarious hate mail and door hangers. Think about all the commercial directors and voiceover artists they employed.

The truth of the matter is that campaign money doesn't actually affect the way people vote. Nobody answers robocalls, we all fast-forward through campaign ads, and the snail mail never even makes it into the house. The campaigns exist solely as a way to funnel money from rich people to ad agencies.

Right, because the only reason they lost was bad campaign strategy. That must be it, because otherwise everyone LOVED their policy positions and their candidate.

kirkage: The burn notice on Karl Rove went out when Megan Kelly scorched him on live TV the night of the election over Ohio.

I'm guessing the higher ups send word down and gave the go ahead once Ohio turned Blue.

No way. There was no way they approved the "These guys used to be right over here. I don't know why they moved them", or "When we did the rehearsal, we lost the sound riiiight here".

Megyn went rogue. Luckily, it was more like "stay on target", and not like Sarah Palin. She was pissed about being treated like an intern. I don't blame her a bit.

Comment?"

Megyn Kelly biatchslapped him again yesterday, too. It's been rather hilarious.

Linkage?

This keeps up and my hate fark fantasy might just turn into something a little less demeaning :p

When your own coworkers and colleagues turn on you like that, it's an obvious sign that you are an absolutely unpleasant person to be around.

She's just lucky it hasn't happened before this. Seriously, with all the blond newsbimbos at FOX News, it's obvious Murdoch, Ailes and all the rest of the C-level guys think of their on-air talent as just so many mouths with tits and ass attached.

Reinhold Reince Priebus is the Chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Reinhold? The mere fact that he didn't make his life goal to become a judge shows how much of a deuche he is.

An old friend of mine had a theory trying to explain why this was. He had this idea that it was based on children's cartoons. During the 80s (and before that) cartoons were about good vs evil. They were about good guys teaming up to fight bad guys, and sometimes good guys and bad guys teaming up to fight even badder guys. Then, in the 90s, all that changed. Cartoons were no longer about good vs evil, they were about competition. It didn't matter if you were good or bad, it only mattered if you won. Cartoons like pokemon and yugioh.

I don't know how much of that is true, but it's been the only explanation I've ever heard for it.

Mercutio74: Philip Francis Queeg: The eagerness with which the people who have worked with him have turned on him does seem to indicate that Rove is exactly as much of an asshole as we've always suspected.

I've seen it before. If you're making people money, you can be the biggest douche in the world and folks still love you. However, when you no longer produce, you're replaced very quickly. There is something to be said for being likeable.

I may be mistaken, but I think it was Bill Maher's show that I heard someone say "Obama has had to be twice as good as president," -- much like Jackie Robinson had to be twice the baseball player to really tear down the color wall. And Michael Steele was on the panel.

I SOOO wanted someone to ask Michael Steele if he had to be "twice as good" when he was the RNC chairman.

It's entirely possible they threw the country just to win Wisconsin. In a few years, that will be ~10 electoral votes that will be solid Republican, because the Democratic Party's base here will be annihilated by then.
