(ESPN)   There are lots of things to dislike about John Calipari, but the nearly $1 million check he's presenting Friday for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts is not one of them. Duke sucks   (espn.go.com) divider line 56

He does shiat like this all of the time. He raised like a million for Haiti, and a good bit of money for tornado relief. Call him what you want when it comes to basketball, but outside, he's never shown himself to be nothing but a good person.

Are you saying Calipari introduced Marcus Camby to two sports agents and worked out the deals between the 3, or that he took Derrick Rose's SAT for him? Or both? Is he that powerful?

i'm not saying that. i'm saying that you have to make sure to cross-reference against ncaa rulings before pointing to scoreboards involving calipari. just an extra layer of diligence.

Oh, right, that's why the Hoosiers got that big trophy at the end of the season...oh, wait, my bad, dawg, your team got lucky on its home court and failed to back it up when it counted. Don't worry, though. You can always tell yourself after the Hoosiers prove themselves to be a giant fraud this season that they're still rebuilding.

I went to High School with Marcus Camby. He failed off the team his freshman and sophomore years, his junior year (my senior year) he didn't even bother to go out for the team as he couldn't maintain a C average. Fast forward 2 or 3 years and it was a huge surprise to learn that he was at UMASS.

His wiki says he transferred but it didn't always say that. It used to not list his time in West Hartford where he had grade issues etc. So he transfers to the inner city school, gets to play and next thing is at UMASS.

Calapari being involved only makes it a little more suspicious. Marcus was a nice kid tho so more power to him. He was SOFT in HS tho. NEVER wanted to play inside even though he was like a foot taller and way more gifted compared to everyone else. He was a frustrating kid to watch in HS. He could have easily dominated and threw it down ever trip up the floor but he just never did. I think that makes it all the more surprising he made it to the NBA.

They got lucky beating 3 top 5 teams in one season? You really want to go down that road? Lots of good teams enter the tournament. Yours won the necessary 6 games in a row. They deserve accolades. But your coach is still a scum playing in an arena named after a scum. And only a scum would pretend that a team that did that and comes back the next season at #1 is either a "fraud" or "still rebuilding."

Playing the games on a neutral court makes the most sense. People take that rivalry very seriously. A neutral setting gets you a fair game every year, with equal access for both fan bases. They've played tons of games on a neutral site in the past. I don't blame UK for wanting to go that route, and I don't blame IU for trying to b*tch out by setting terms. They've been getting housed for the last 20 years.

UK wanted to play 2 neutral games at Lucas Oil, and pretended that was some kind of gift to us, when in reality Calipari wanted to put 15000 blue shirts into our house 2x over a year for recruiting purposes. That's hardly a fair ask. IU then wrote a letter agreeing to the 2x in Lucas Oil, with a 3rd game in Kentucky and the fourth back at IU and Calipari said no because he only wanted a 2 year extension - basically 2 years in Indiana to set a recruiting tone in our state. I wouldn't call IU's refusal to piecemeal a contract 2 years at a time b*tching out in the slightest.

That would be why I said need and not want. UK isn't going to be nearly as good this year but if you look at the 2013 class (three of the top five before Wiggins reclassified) it's not like he is getting turned down

Shabazz was his first real loss at UK and it looks like that might turn out to be a good thing. If he gets Wiggins next year also you can just ship the the trophy to the Craft Center.

\Just make sure not to send it via Emery

There's really no question though that he'd want to set up operations in a neighbor state with good players. Regardless of who the coaches are or what our biases are, we lost a great game to look forward to each year. And since this is college, it really should be at home where students can reasonably see the game. I'm saddened by it.
