How am I supposed to start a new Angry Birds game when they keep adding levels to the old games?

2012-11-09 08:35:47 AM
My kids will be all over this.

It's only two "levels" so far (Tattoine and the Death Star) but so far, it's actually pretty fun. I love the Chewbacca bird. Oh, and the R2

Always wanted to own the sitdown version of this game. Chuck E. Cheese - back then it was Showbiz - had it when I was a kid. While all the others were playing ski-ball and thrashing around in the germ infested ball pit, I was on a mission to destroy the Death Star.

To be fair, they didn't think of it either. They just ripped off a popular free Flash game and added in some birds.

I downloaded it yesterday and was pretty meh about it until I played the Han Solo bird. With his "Yee hoo!" and shooting his blaster at stormtrooper pigs, it was pretty awesome. And the Millennium Falcon ability was pretty bad ass.

I would be willing to fork over the cash on an extreme gaming rig and neglect my family for a month if they were to remake it using today's technology (assuming that they didn't ruin it in the process).

Tie Fighter
X-Wing
Dark Forces and Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight

4 games I would give my left testicle to see a remake of. fark the Jedi Knight games after the original! They were good, but the first 2 are masterpieces in my eyes.

I'll still never forget how Dark Forces blew me away from the get go, such an incredible game at the time.

You have to finish Tatooine to unlock the Death Star, and they also have the "Path of the Jedi" in the first
release. Hoth looks to be coming in the next expansion.

Rovio has the wonderfully annoying habit of making movie tie in games that are insanely better than they
should be (ANGRY BIRDS RIO, and now this).

Just how the HELL do you get the Golden Egg in Death Star level 2-18?????!

I don't know man. Now that Lucasfilm is owned by Disney, I get the sense that making licensed Star Wars games is about to get a whole lot harder.

Maybe now that LucasArts is in-house we'll get lucky and see a second renaissance of Disney-property games like The Lion King and Aladdin.

I've tried. I've tried using DOSbox most recently (I think...) and something else previously. I still have my old CDs laying about somewhere. Maybe someday (soon) I'll try again.

yeah, I've always found DOSbox, for me personally, quite useless. My personal thing is I still like playing Redneck Rampage, which is a build engine game.

they guy who developed the build engine made a patch for the engine to run under XP in win95 compatibility mode. then the folks made SB16 patches for XP. and a then a VGA patch, after getting it all together, the game runs fine, and a base line, off the shelf budget PC will run the build engine games, full screen with no lag whatsoever now. Between research and instillation, I got the game running in a couple of hours.
DOSbox, AFAIK, emulates a dos environment, that sucks up resources in and of itself, and then you are running the DOS based game in a DOS emulator..

2012-11-09 06:50:58 PM
Regarding a re-make of Tie Fighter, the original developer, Totally Games, has been wanting to be involved in a remake for a few years now. I think there's been some pushes for it on the Lucas Arts forum as well. I guess now we have to harass Disney?

I have to say the makers of this game outdid themselves and made a very entertaining game.

if you count "space" as being a shake out for the code? Absolutely! i havent gotten to far in it yet. I got a gen 1 moto droid and I have to put the phone into airplane mode to run the game as best as possible, but I've run through about 5 screens so far, with perfect score. I am enjoying it.

as for the haters saying the franchise is just riding on the coatails of crush the castle, that game is dead, and was dead long before AB came on the scene, and once apun a time they made have had a IP case against them. but not anymore, and over all? all the games are just refinments on the old "physics ball" program. AB wond, CtC lost, al there is to it.

The amount of resources DOSbox uses on a modern computer is completely negligible.

all my computers are pretty damn modern and DOSBox still makes most programs that run in the environment not worth the effort. please tell me what I'm doing wrong

You're in luck. It's not a simple patch fix, it takes some effort, and you need the Tie Fighter (or x-wing) 95 CD to get it to work. But when it does.... sweet jesus what a classic. Also, you don't need an xbox controller. Any old usb joystick will work
