The One True TheDavid: if you must view questionable images on your electronic device, promptly delete them after use

Um, if you have to go re-download the same videos every time you want to fap to them, you're only increasing your chances of getting caught (also increasing amount of time you have to wait until fapping!) So, storing them encrypted somewhere is probably your best bet.

puppetmaster745: He knew he was going to be arrested and he probably figured they'd get a good fingerprint from the memory card. He was in a corner.

After a bunch of people handled it? Unlikely. He's just a dumb-ass that deserves to get caught, but with any intelligence might have gotten out of some of the charges. Dude is extra creepy with child porn and the LEO equipment. He is very likely a serial rapist or was in the process of becoming one.

it's actually the opposite. don't listen to him. but how should i know! i don't arrest people the second they hop on a torrent

What he should have done was create a decrypted main volume filled with all kinds of records of charitable activities, like volunteer time, donations, to do lists filled with all of the greatest sorts of good works. Religious pamphlets, etc.

The other stuff could then be on a hidden, encrypted volume.

It's been out of his posession for over a month. Anyone could have tampered with it. No, I don't think anyone did, but he's an idiot because any lawyer worth his fur could make that sd card go away, prints or not.

sandi_fish: They can inventory by saying - 1 memory card $20.00, they were only looking at the contents to be curious.

True, but at that point it's their card to do with as they wish.

FTA: "On Wednesday, Sheriff's Office detectives met with Fogarty, according to the arrest report. He allegedly admitted, after being read his rights, that he owned the card and received the child porn images by email, but did not delete them. He was arrested."

Reason #5823 why you never talk to the police. If he had said nothing, it's doubtful that they could have proven the card was his.

I found a flash drive with crappy poetry, the start of a novel, and pics and vids of animals mating. I kept it. Uh, that last one's still legal, right?

Agreed, and I personally am damn glad he was stupid enough to get caught.

Last I heard, 4chan's still legal.

Huck And Molly Ziegler: You'd think someone in possession of an object that could get him in serious legal trouble would have the cautious sense enough to keep it locked within the four walls of his domicile.

Of course, given the nature of this illegal object, it was only a matter of time before he was caught anyway.

Or just say "i want a lawyer" rather than "you got me"

Don't get it...

sethen320: Onkel Buck: Krieghund: I'm not crying for the dude that got caught, but WTH was the towing company doing looking at a SD card he left in his car?

I found a flash drive in the parking lot of my college. I opened it up on my computer to see if it had any evidence on it of who it belonged to. Turned out it belonged to an African foreign exchange student, there was a paper he had written saved on it and lots and lots of interacial porn

You do realize that putting flash drives found on the ground in your pc is awesome way to open yourself up to all kinds of security issues, right?

Yes and thats why I used my work computer, I was hoping that was implied. Our IT guy was the sterotypical smug gamey smelling fat basement dweller, so if it farked anything up I would fabricate a story about how Im bad with computers and went to some weird news compilation site and it started acting weird after that, His ego would be stroked because I "had to ask for help" and he would fix it and wouldnt cost me a thing.

/Always use some sort of protection no matter the activity

omnimancer28: SurfaceTension: Happy Hours: Seems like a pretty good scam owning a storage yard. About 20 years ago my car was towed because it was illegally parked. So were about 100 other cars. After a lot of walking and only a few hours in "storage" I paid about $70 to get my car out of the lot. I never bothered to pay the parking ticket which was only a fraction of the cost to get it out of the impound lot. Fark that.

Not saying that anyone should ever do this, but while in the impound lot, the cars are under the custody of the towing company, right? If someone was to come along and, say, spray a bunch of the cars with paint balls, then wouldn't the towing company/storage yard be responsible for fixing or repainting all the cars? I mean, not that those places deserve it or anything. They're just performing a public service without any malicious intent at all, right? Right?

No. Every single one of these places has a clause in the agreement to take your car out of impound that basically says "we are not responsible for any damages to your car while it was on this lot". If you want your car back, you sign. If not, they charge you a hundred bucks a day while you complain that it is unfair.

Begoggle: TV's Vinnie: Why don't these morons understand that being caught in possession like this can literally ruin their life in a heartbeat. Hide that sh*t unless you want to go to jail and then end up sleeping under a highway overpass for the rest of your lifeDon't be a pedophile, you stupid dumbfarks!!

FTFY

Just was still too tired out from enjoying the election to type down everything or the post could have looked like "don't be a butthole. yeah I like Heineken ain;t nothing like a good Heineken I guess. This... and how is it the chain of custody isn't completely farked when some schlep tow truck driver gets his grubby paws on a thumb drive?

Years ago there was some CompUSA repair geek on one of the geek forums bragging about how he goes through people's drives looking for illegal stuff and would call the cops if he planted found child porn.

Seems like even a half-assed lawyer could get this tossed easily or do the courts also become pitchforky villagers like the general public does in pedophile cases?

But hey, if it weren't for such stupid perverts what else could Farkers talk about?

How to make stupid criminals perverts smarter?

You probably don't know that I'd like to see the deasth penalty imposed for any felony rating over 5 years in prison and/or involving sexual or bodily harm to a prebuscent child. So I'm all for making stupid criminals & perverts DEAD.

JackieRabbit: : What's even more moronic is that numb-nutz admitted the card was his....

puppetmaster745: He knew he was going to be arrested and he probably figured they'd get a good fingerprint from the memory card. He was in a corner.

With the tow yard employees putting their fingers all over it his prints could have been rubbed off. But rather than talk about it at all he should have said "I want a lawyer" and then shut up entirely.

Maybe we should test IQs at puberty, with the very low-scorers being sterilized. And the stupid and violent or perverted ones castrated, and the recalcitrant taken out and shot.

If we have to suffer their presence, people this stupid should not be allowed to commit any kind of major crime. There ought to be standards, like with electricians and plumbers.

Smart perverts don't get caught with kiddy porn. That's why we only hear about the stupid ones. So you're both right: people should not look at such things at all, but the ones who get caught like this guy are too stupid to live.
