Yes, moron. Let's see what happened the first time Obama got elected, shall we?

It appears that the DJIA is approximately 50-60% higher than when Obama took office, even after the nasty dip below 7,000 in March 2009. And you're worried about an insignificant drop of 1-2%?

Please keep pulling charts out of your ass, though.  I like pointing out stupidity.

Maybe, considering the GOP is holding the economy hostage by petulantly refusing to compromise. Either way, only a brain dead moran looks at a span of a couple days, or even just a couple of months, to draw conclusions about the overall state of the economy or even just the equities market in general. I remember seeing threads on freerepublic in 2009 when the markets were first coming back and seeing TONS of people saying they were pulling everything out when the DOW got to 10000 because then the rug was going to be pulled out from under everyone... I hope they did. And I hope you base your investments on your political beliefs too. That is what idiots do.

I'd cry too if I knew I just won the POTUS election while at the same time I knew I just won the POTUS election.

As Brian Williams pointed out, the security measures taken to protect the POTUS these days are beyond belief. If I were a father of two and a husband (not to mention the race, religion, political questions), I would be terrified of going out to meet the public knowing crazy guys and hirelings were among the crowd.

Look how much older he looks after 4 years. Obama walks around with the football 24 hours a day. I'd howl like a maniacally sad baby with a full diaper and a rash that needs a quart of Butt Paste.

I expect congress will fight against progress every step of the way, but now that Obama no longer needs to worry about re-election; he may be able to maneuver in some changes that are a long term investment in the welfare of ordinary people rather than defense contractors and other corporations.

It won't be easy. He'll have to lead Americans away from being war moderates, that is people who've never met a war they didn't like only a Commander in Chief they didn't care for, to the sometimes much more complicated and difficult work of building peace. He may want to start by soliciting advise from soldiers and former soldiers who have embraced peace. Various charities that serve the international community and faith and secular groups that traditionally reject war might also be decent sources of ideas.

Federal spending will have to be systematically shifted away from the Lockheed Martins and toward education and research. And research dollars will have to be shifted from weapons development to development of alternative energy sources, medical research, and other causes that improve the welfare of the American people while reducing our impetus to go to war.

Many monopolies and oligarchies will have to be subdivided. Regulations will have to implemented or re-implemented on Wall Street and the banking industry. The tax code must be altered to favor companies that keep jobs in America versus shipping jobs to another nation. Our import regulations must be tightened so that imported products must meet the same or higher standards as American produced products so that we no longer have American candy companies relocating to Mexico because candy from Mexico can be manufactured in equipment that is disallowed in America. And so that a consumer can find apple juice produced with American apples, grown in orchards with our relatively strict regulations on pesticide use, rather than juice composed of Chinese apples; without having to travel to three or more stores to track down the American produced juice.

Some of these changes won't necessarily be so great for Wall Street. I imagine there will be a lot of whining and gnashing of teeth, but these changes will be good for you, me,our families, and, someday, our children's families.

My intuition is that the downturn is less about Obama being re-elected (anyone with half a brain can see how he's been good for the economy the last few years), and more about the fact that there's no election going on anymore, and the next major political thing on people's radar is sequestration, and sequestration would be an absolute death knell to our economy at this point.
