I gotta give that dude props for his Steve Perry impression.

To be fair, he sounds better than Steve Perry when he sings like Steve Perry.

South Detroit is actually Windsor Ontario.

Does he do Perry faithfully, as in sweet and simple, or any way you want it? After all these years, I thought only the young could keep me feeling that way ;)

I loved all these bands when I was 20.
Who would want to see them now?
Just DL the music.

He sounds like steve perry after steve perry was washed up.
He sounds nothing like 1977 steve perry.

Exactly. All anyone needs to do is listen to some of the early stuff to know. His voice soared and then kept on going. This guy is a caricature of when Perry was losing his voice. Not a big surprise looking at how hard those guys toured. I can remember seeing a tape years ago narrated by the NFL films guy (Saban?) following some of the tours. Earlier on I believe vocals were his only except for some help from Rollie occasionally.

Say what you want about Loverboy, but I always thought that Mike Reno had an incredible voice. Steve Perry too, obviously.

most of the old bands i've seen in recent years have been very good, and i'm glad i've seen them
just a couple months ago i saw crosby stills & nash...i'd won front row tix and took my dad as a belated birthday gift since he had never gotten to see them. they were AMAZING, except nash's voice is pretty much non-existent now

I would go see Pat Benatar, just to hear her hubby Neil Giraldo play guitar. That Journey pic cracked me up. Looks like something a bar band would do. I guess it beats a brick wall.

there was a "brick wall and other cliches" website about band photos...don't know if it still exists...but my friends had a band called hip-hop anonymous, and i came upon their photo on that site...one of the guys had the big arkansas democrat-gazette newspaper comic strip golf umbrella opened up and i believe they were also in front of a brick wall

ha, here it is...i googled "brick wall band photos", this site was the first one listed, and theirs was the 2nd photo!

why did it mess up the link the first time? there should not have been a space between the "9" and the "0" at the end

I could spend hours on that site. Buddy of mine just joined a blues/rock power trio kind of thing...they posed in front of a brick wall. *facepalm*

I saw Motley Crue a couple times as an adult, and was just disappointed. Vince Neil doesn't keep himself in good enough shape to perform well.

On the other hand, I've seen Iron Maiden a few times since reuniting with Bruce Dickenson, and those were awesome shows. Ditto Van Halen; Dave sounded good, Eddie played better than he has in years, and Wolfgang, while not having the rock chops of Michael Anthony, is a better musician.

I haven't been in a band since before the days of digital cameras. Thank God somebody pitched the old box of photos.

I saw her in Hawaii in the early '80s, on the night before her wedding to her guitarist, Neil Giraldo. That entire show, it seemed that everyone in the band was trying to outdo everyone else. They were seriously in the groove. The only show I've ever seen that could compare was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at the same venue.

I saw Journey (same place; Neil Blaisdell Center) at the last date of their Around the World Tour, and they were just burnt out. Not a good show at all. Them boys was smellin' the barn, and just wanted to go home.

I don't even like Journey- however, even I know that Arnel Pineda sounds just like Steve Perry, so really it's just the same voice from a different face. If you like Journey, I'm sure you like Arnel. If you don't, well, you don't.

I was there 79-82 Yeah, Blaisdell was awesome. Windjammer Booze-cruises were fun too. I was lucky, because I got to fly to all the islands on a daily basis. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to go back.
